1. When the scientists and personnel were interrogated, they would all say the same thing: An experiment had gone wrong, and the highly enriched uranium caused the situation to go further out of control than was ever expected. All the reports that were sent to Australia, which were brought with the refugees, showed not a single fuel rod was missing, with all the unused ones in the procession of Korea and Zargathia and used rods buried in concrete next to the plant. Everything would show that these people were innocent and responsible in taking the risk of bringing the rods over the borders, to prevent the uranium from falling into the hands of possible terrorists or revolutionaries. Meanwhile, investigations in Ulan Bator and the exploded plant revealed much information on the nature of the experimental plant. Blueprints at the energy ministry showed that there were hardly any safety features in the plant, allegedly to speed up construction. The plans sent to Australia had all the safety features in it, so it seemed that either the Mongolians were reckless, or things had been planned from the start. Not only that, but there was a large empty space in the upper level of the reactor, right above where the fuel rods were installed. Interviews of a construction worker who had worked at the plant would reveal that a large truck filled with explosives visited the reactor soon after the construction was finished, and let empty. It was guessed that the empty space was filled with the explosives, meaning in case of a meltdown the reactor would explode with such force that it would cause a full scale nuclear explosion, which was what happened. Not only this, but the nature of the waste fill near the plant was revealed. The alternative purpose was that in case of an explosion, they would play the role of spreading fallout beyond the normal range and level of radiation. It was similar to the salted weapon design, where external matter was used to spread even more radiation for killing. As the used fuel rods were very radioactive, in fact too radioactive to be moved, this meant that mass evacuation was needed. However, the agents searched, no one would be able to find a trace of the Genghis Khan nuclear program. All related facilities and equipment had been destroyed with the establishment of Mongolia, and the sole hardcopy records were in the leader residence, completely destroyed. Thus, there would be no tracking the bombs in UFE’s possessions to Mongolia. No material or structural evidence would be found, with only the uranium possibly pointing to Mongolia or Zargathia. However, with the fuel rods accounted for, only Zargathia seemed to be the source. The UFE forensic investigators found a major discovery in the ruins of the leader’s house: the corpse of Kyoji Tomonaga. The lower half of the body was burned, with the upper half intact, with the exception of a sharp piece of metal through the chest. It seemed the explosion had killed the Minister instantly. In one of his pockets the investigators found a neatly folded silky paper with the words “Pledges to sacrifice for Queen Amyante, with all my heart and soul” written in blood. The puzzled investigators continued to search, and they would be confronted with a very strange case. OOC: I shall continue with evidence related to Kyoji Tomonaga, and the current situation of the fallout. Please do not respond too much to the paper as of now.
2. Any forces would find that the explosion in the Supreme Leader's residence destroyed all the nuclear related archives from the old Genghis Khan project. Since all of the main ministers were dead, there was no one with any knowledge as to why the airplane had attempted to crash into Korea. What the authorities will find is that the nuclear explosion was caused by a simple mistake in doing an experiment, just like what happened in Ukraine a long time ago. Neo Tokyo was dead with this, as the explosion had killed off all of its leaders. No connection would be found.
3. The fuel had already been of over 90% enriched uranium when we received it. All tests, which were conducted and reported on with the Australian observers, show that the fuel rods were weapon-grade from the beginning. Since these type of HEU are not used for power generation unless they are for experiments like our exploded reactor, we had our suspicions from the beginning. We do not understand what you mean by positioning weapons near the other end of your borders. We are investigating the aircraft incident. OOC: Let me tell you something. Never use uranium from nuclear weapons as fuel, since that will be tracked no matter what you do. You used nuclear weapons coming from Manchuria, meaning they were Manchurian uranium. If there is one single uranium source from anywere within your land, they woudl match and your house of cards will fall. IC: Almost right after the response to Zargathia, there was a massive explosion at the Supreme Leader's Residence. A revolution swept most the Mongolia, and soon the entire country was in anarchy. The Australian observers and their Mongolian protectors fled east to Xinyan and Zargathia with the leftover fuel rods, so keep the truth alive. OOC: Cochin, please reestablish the protectorate. I shall continue RPing as the remainder of the government and the nuclear scientists, but my time as a nation is now over.
4. Again, we have stated that any help will be accepted. We however wish to see your nuclear facilities to satisfy our curiosities. This is a request on our part to figure out the origins of the uranium.
5. After some time was over, the timer on the onboard explosives went off. The timer was set for the minimum amount of time it would take to nuke Korea, and with the various problems the Green Flag were facing, they were not able to do anything.... The ship exploded, spreading its uranium load southeast, towards Korea. At the same time, the plane crashed into the Yongbyon reactor, compounding the spread of uranium. OOC: Let's see, I used uranium from the fuel rods that were given to me, and 3 miles southeast of Dandong is on the EEZ border between Zargathia and Korea. I don't see anything wrong with that.
6. The plane, not lading in Dangong, headed towards Yongbyon, making sure to fly over korean territory so as not to be a target to any possible UFE forces around. The plane will crash itself into the nuclear reactor there, causing another nuclear terror. The plan was still loaded with 300 kilos of Zargathian HEU which were packed tightly to make sure they would not be lost should the plane be shot down.
7. Mongolia will be accepting any help in cleaning up this mess. However, our point still stands: Why did Zargathia have weapon-grade enriched uranium in the first place?
8. The UFE would not have known the ship was related to Neo Tokyo in the past, since all records were gone. It have been registered with Zargathia, so there was no way for the UFE to know. The ships had been following the coast of Korea as they headed south, and when the attack began, they moved towards the coast, near Nampo. It seemed the target needed to be changed. OOC: Obvious godmoding on your part, Triyun. Please refrain from the "radical Japanese terrorists" part.
9. There was a national broadcast from the Supreme Leader on the accident. "There has been a terrible accident today when an experiment using our experimental nuclear reactor went into overdrive. The highly enriched uranium underwent fission, resulting in a nuclear explosion. Many lives have been sacrificed, including the Australian observers who had helped us in the reactor. We apologizes to our neighbors, and shall allow full access to the region of the reactor, since that was our source reactor. We shall also allow access into our nuclear files. There is something I wish to add. Our uranium source was from Zargathia. Strangely enough, the uranium provided were of 90% enrished uranium, meaning it was weapon-grade. When we were reshaping the uranium for our reacotr, we noticed that it seemed the uranium had been formerly part of nuclear weapons. Zargathia has no need for weapon-grade uranium for their reactors, and we are sure that the Australians did not enrich the uranium for them. We question how Zargathia came into possession of such uranium, since chemical tests show the uranium were not of Australian origin. We demand that Zargathia, in line with our openness, fully disclose how they have such dangerous uranium, which was most likely used as part of nuclear weapons."
10. "Very well." Some time later, the nuclear reactor in Mongolia exploded. The cue had been sent. Lucky Dragon 5 was among a fleet of ships miles southeast of Dandong after retrieving the package from the Mongolian plane. The package was opened within the lead-lined interior of the ship, revealing the Zargathian HEU. They were installed on the three nuclear bombs from Project Genghis Khan. It was uncertain whether they woudl be able to achieve a nuclear explosion, but at the minimum they would be the perfect dirty bomb. The ship was full of explosives, so if one thing did not work, it woudl be the other. Even after filling the bombs there was at least 200 kilos of HEU, enough to be a danger. OOC: Your move, Pravus Ingruo
11. The truck with the unused sixth fuel rods entered the northern town. As it reached the center on its way further north, it was struck on the side by a military jeep going at a fast speed. The driver and passenger area was crunched beyond recogniztion. If this wasn't enough, the tank coimg right behind rolled over the front of the truck. Death was certain. After the Mongolian driver, scientists and Australian observers, soldiers were killed, troops from the military base quickly ran a magnet around teh fuel rods, to make sure they cannot be tracked. The fuel rods were moved to teh airport, where they were loaded onto a passenger airplane. The plane took off, heading toward Dandong. Two hours after the plane took off, the reactor exploded. The HEU had finally gotten critical, and the nuclear fission went out of control. With the power of 200 kilotons of TNT, the nuclear explosion rocked the desert, swallowing up the fuel storages, the northern town and everything in it. ********* The plane reached Dandong, but before approaching the airport there, it dropped a package, noticed by anyone, including satellites. The package was picked up by a small container ship nearby. The container ship continued moving, reaching the fleet of other ships that were moving south. OOC: Please post only immediate responses to the nuclear explosion.
12. It has taken Kyoiji Tomonaga a long time for this operation to start, such as preparing the old Neo Tokyo container ship and placing it off the coast of Zargathia. He turned on the computer, which had cost Mongolia quite a bit of money. "In the next few days, there will be a large incident in Mongolia. You will take that as the cue. About 3 miles southeast of Dandong, you will mind a small container ship by the name of Lucky Dragon 5. It contains three "little boys" of Genghis Khan. You will use the boys to attack the target. Since they have not been under good care, you would need to have someone get them in good shape. You understand what else to do, correct? The payment of $10 million will be either wired to you or given in unmarked golden bars on the ship. As a bonus, if you manage to cause enough propaganda to frame the country, another $10 million will be given."
13. Mongkyo, seeing that it was only because of a lack of external communication, pulled back its troops.
14. The experiemental reactor was a success so far. This time, it was decided that a test should be done using all of the fuel rods. It was dangerous, but if done correctly, would be an effective use of the fuel rods. Early in the day, before the test, the power output of the reactor was dropped in preparation for the upcoming test. Then unexpectedly, the reactor's power output dropped way too much, almost to zero. Because of this drop, some control rods were removed to bring the power back up. The reactor's power output raised up, and all appeared to be normal. More preparation for the test began later when two pumps were switched on in the cooling system. They increased water flow out of the reactor, and thus removed heat more quickly. They also caused the water level to lower in a component of the reactor called the steam separator. Because of the low level of water in the steam separator, the operator increased the amount of feed water coming into it, in the hopes that the water level would rise. Also, more control rods were taken out of the reactor to raise internal reactor temperature and pressure, also in the hopes that it would cause the water level in the steam separator to rise. The water level in the steam separator began to rise, so the operator adjusted again the flow of feed water by lowering it. This decreased the amount of heat being removed from the reactor core. Because many control rods had been removed and the amount of heat being taken from the core by the coolant had been reduced, it began to get very hot. Also, there was relatively low pressure in the core because the amount of incoming water had been decreased. Because of the heat and the low pressure, coolant inside the core began to boil to form steam. The actual test began with the closing of the turbine feed valves. This should have caused an increase in pressure in the cooling system, which in turn would have caused a decrease in steam in the core. This should have lowered the reactivity in the core. Thus, the normal next step when closing the turbine feed valves was to retract more control rods, increasing reactivity in the core. This is what the operator did. The only problem was that there was no increase in pressure in the cooling system because of the earlier feed water reduction. This meant that there was already a normal amount of steam in the core, even with the turbine feed valves closed. Thus, by retracting more control rods to make up for a reduction in steam that didn't happen, the operator caused too much steam to be produced in the core. With the surplus of steam, the reactor's power output increased. Soon, even more steam was being produced. The operator realized there was a problem and SCRAMmed the reactor, completely disabling all fission reactions. However, it was too late. The temperature and pressure inside the reactor had already risen dramatically, and the fuel rods had begun to shatter. As the fuel rods began to shatter, alarms went off, warning of a nuclear explosion. While it is usually impossible for any PWR or LWR nuclear reactor to explode like an atomic bomb because of the low content of enriched uranium, this reactor was different. Its fuel rods contained over 90% highly enriched Zargathian uranium...... Enriched enough for a nuclear explosion. Emergency measures were started, as the workers and scientists began evacuating the facilities. The fuel rods that were not unpacked, still in their original transport vehicles, were driven away with an Australian observer aboard, and helicopters were used to take people away. Meanwhile, the unused sixth fuel rods were moved to a truck to be transported. The remaining Australian observers and soldiers helped with this, and soon the truck began moving, toward the town nearby. Time was of essence. OOC: Closed to all except Subtleknifewielder and myself until I open it.
15. In a small town 1 kilometer north, a small town with a military base and an airport was established. The airport provided flights to all around the world.
16. Mongkyo (formerly Greater Mongolia) has sent troops into Soldiania, which is in anarchy. The troops will remain there until Cochin comes to relieve the troops. OOC: Haven't seen a single post from Soldiania.
17.
Been meaning to ask this, but who controls Outer Mongolia, and what's it called? It's been without a name for a while now. Kankou's nation on the Korean peninsula has lacked a name for a while now as well btw.
I do. Don't even think of touching me, hypocrite. Keeping land that had been given to you? If only people kept their words, heh.
18. The used rods were piling up. Several disposal sites were made near the plant, with the unused sixth rods being stored separately in a warehouse monitored by cameras by the Australian technicians. It was a dangerous job, since they were dealing with weapon-grade Manchurian uranium, but the amount of energy compensated for the risks. It was decided that they should try to squeeze out more power by starting to use the sixth rods.......
19. If the UFE is against our flag, we invite it to propose a flag for us. The only requirement is that the Soyombo symbol not be used.
20. Finally! Thank you very much for adding me.
21. Greater Mongolia had been under a tribal leadership. After long discussions, a national government has been finally founded. Greater Mongolia Flag Greater Mongolia United Government Supreme Leader De Noyan shall be answering any questions countries may have.
22. Please notify Subtleknifewielder to verify this thread http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=92179&pid=2451896&st=0&#entry2451896
23. The experimental nuclearplant had worked out as it was supposed to: it was able to derive energy from used fuel rods to recycle energy. Several technical problems did occur: the Zargathian fuel rods had a very high percentage of Manchurian HEU, which was abnormal for energy production. The reaction was verging onnuclear several times, so the scientists had to disable the sixt rod before running the reactor. The second problem was the waste that was left over. The reused rods had so many different elements formed within it it was dangerous to either refine or transport. It was decided for he reused rods to be disposed off in the Gobi Desert. The reused rods were placed in a depp ditch lined with lead. The six rod was placed at the bottom, with concrete poured on top. The layers of rods and concrete formed a seal that would block all radioactivity. The Australian inspected over the entire process, and also given samples from the reused rods. The next rods were placed in the reactor, and production was restarted. The reactor was filled with more control rodsto control the dangerous weapon-class uranium. The scientists thought that the HEU was very suspicious, but ignored it. Research was their job.
24. You have forgotten Greater Mongolia. http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=90895&st=20 Please change Mongolia to its real status.
25. The delivery was done without any accidents. The experimental reactor was loaded with the old Zargathian fuel rods, and it was started. For the cases of disasters, the fuel rods were desinged to open at the bottom into a deep hole, so that nuclear reaction would be stopped. Tests on the fuel rods showed that the uranium was abnormally enriched, but this was passed off as the results of prior use.
