I don't think knowing ahead of time that the game would reset on a certain day would make things exciting. Maybe exciting for those who have had time to build their nations, but those of us who have just begun would really have nothing to look forward to. would my tech deals vanish because the giants i'm dealing with would rather save the money to enlarge their warchest as the day draws near of an eventual massive nuclear war if a winner is going to be declared either as an individual or alliance.
many newer nations will probably stick around to gain more experience but how many will leave? a known end date will perhaps stop wars between the giants as they plan how to win in the final days. they won't want to war during the preceding weeks cuz that will strike down their stats and will they have time to recover and if they do recover will their warchest be enough to win a final war which would come. Or will their be no war at all at the end? Will nations and alliances just wait and wait and wait to hopefully make to the end date to where they wait and nobody pulls the trigger?
A reset day for small nations and new players that wanted to join but found out about the reset date would need to come with some added incentive to come back or stick around til the end. For example, if you play til the end no matter the size of your nation, you could recieve a bonus in starting funds, infrastructure, and technology when the game resets like 1million, 500 infra and 50 tech. The best managers or players whatever you want to call them will know how to invest their money and will quickly rise to the top. Or give some form of credit for those who have donating to CN so that they get an incentive to return.
how exciting can it really be right now as a giant when you really have very little to build or work for? All they really do is plan for war or buy wonders cuz they got everything else. the growing aspect has been gone for quite a while. Besides going from giant to behemoth. plus any grandfathered players that may still have more than one nation...that needs to be fixed so that players only have one nation.
As far as alliances are concerned, I wasn't here when alliances were bigger or their was more so I really can't comment on that, but I will lol. Wouldn't it be better if alliances were capped? say maximum of 100 members/alliance? wouldn't that make being statistically better as an alliance more meaningful? Expanding to having 500-800-or more isn't really that impressive is it? total nation strength of the alliance would have to be worked for rather than just blasting new members to get the 250-500-800-1000 nations strength numbers that the new nation could garner in the first few days of existence. plus it would split up some of the giant alliances. yes I understand the best in current alliance would team up, but what if the best didn't because they want to be a leader or compete against some of their old friends. It can't be said for certain that a reset would just redo the same alliances. No one can really say what will happen, cuz it hasn't happened.
anyways....
