1. I like this idea. Actually I thought several of the ideas here were pretty good.
2. Aether Empire - Zarfef The Terrible
3. Given their aid to the Aether Empire during the War of Tanzania, we are deeply saddened to hear that Sudan has fallen into anarchy. However, as this is a former territory of the Nation of Nod, a state that our records suggest may have even persisted after the formation of Legion, we caution the Empire of the Twelve gods that invading this territory may constitute an invasion of another nation's sovereign territory. I am sure that such a belligerent action is not your aim and in the event that the Nation of Nod re-asserts it's claim, that you will kindly remove your forces from the region to avoid undesirable acts of instability. Private... On that note, the Aether Empire moves it's defense to DEFCON 3, given what it perceives as an escalation of regional insecurity.
4. Does this mean I will get to unleash my blade on a Sith!? Declaring on your own AA was forbidden in the NSO, but I always wondered how such a battle would... taste. Surely it would be among the finest clash of swords in the universe! Oh ho ho, I can barely contain my HaPiNeSS @_@! Well, if this turns out to fall in Schatt's court, I will finally get to try that out without causing an inter-alliance global conflict and all that stuff. I don't truly desire war for the sake of my ally, but if that is how fate casts the di, I should at least relish in the joy for myself! Mwah ha ha, let us see what becomes of this! With hugs, lead underwear and rainbows -Zarfef of the Aether Empire P.S. Nothing personal, it's just that if we were to fight, I would simply be enjoying the battle, not enjoying destroying you or anything.
5. The Young Anarchists Club in the Aether Empire would like to know why everyone is so belligerently opposed to leaving Tanzania in it's current state of lacking a government. "If the people wanted one, they would make one." is their official declaration in fact. Why not leave the state to enjoy a nice fertile period of anarchy and intervene if evidence of terrible violations of human rights actually occur, which (they will strongly note) there has been no evidence to support this as of yet. This is a fact supported by the Aether Empire itself, which has noted a lack of border activity and decreased the threat level of Tanzania because of its lack of an organized military. "Tanzania is a model demonstration of a region-wide, working, anarchistic system. While Tanzania may grow to produce a threat by some whack-job in the future, we imagine that this will only precipitate in the event that a government does form and not during a period where government and hence a military are lacking all together." The Aether Empire also notes that it continues to trade with any working companies or individuals within Tanzania. Tanzanian notes, while un-backed by any nation itself, are still openly accepted and traded with the AE as long the government observes that the notes continue to hold value. There is even talk within the Aether Empire of forming a kind of "Unified African Currency" which would allow regions like this to easily function economically, even if they lack a functioning government. Such notes require development time however, to minimize the risk of a counterfeit currency explosion and an ensuing massive collapse of value in the notes themselves. OOC: Guys, as much as I am most likely biased towards Zephyr in a major way, I must state that this wouldn't be seen in the best interests of the Aether Empire IC. Further more, doubly held or organization held protectorates are a pain for new players as they have to wait for multiple positive validations, with various people promising lands to others. Lavo's valiant step of leaving his protectorates as essentially white space for new players is one of the most positive moves I've seen in CNRP towards friendliness to new players - and I'm very happy about that. I exist because of that. Furthermore, the region is strategically worthless to fight over. If this were the Congo (vast mountains, rivers, jungle and the potential for a dam so powerful that they would have to export the power to Europe or risk blowing out the grid for the continent) then. Yes. It has a tone of strategic and tactical value. But Tanzania? Unless you're exporting gazelles or finding a way to make the land incredibly fertile, it's just not worth fighting over. Great place to form a nation, not worth killing each other over.
6. OOC: Edit. Delete. But if roll-play is not fun and shenanigans what is it? Also, I take no responsibility for "ruining" your thread, you obviously overestimate my abilities on that one. If anyone disliked my post, they'd of just skipped it and post their own. I'm not so omnipotent, that I can bend the will of other RPers at my whim.

8.
This sound like little more than a nation desperate to reclaim lost reputation, your assumptions led to accusations without any proof at all.
Why sir I do believe you're correct! You get a cookie. Well, accept for the desperate or reclaim part. We don't have a good reputation as it is, and we're not looking to get one anytime soon. In fact, it would somehow be bad if we managed to gain a "good" reputation from all this - that just doesn't lend itself to world domination too well. But what does it matter if we have no proof, that has never stopped other nations from making accusations.
9.
Enjoy your toy, but it will not bring you the security you think it will.
"Speak for yourself. Your toy might not bring you a sense of security, but mine sure does!" - Zarfef
10.
Qatar-Bahrain questions the statement by the Aether Empire. First how weak was the security on a government website that a new group that was not a month old was able to hack and alter the website? Second, if the security was weak enough for Yaza-Hajin to hack how were your analysts able to trace it back to them in such a short period of time? Third, if the security was that weak why was Yaza-Hajin the first to do it? Fourth, for what reason would Yaza-Hajin have for meaningless vandalism of a website and conveniently become a 'terror organization' shortly after they denied having done any such action?
Well they said "By the time you know who we are, you will never forget us...". Who could ever forget what they did to our web page! There is nothing else memorable that occurred shortly after the video was released, so we assumed that this must be the case. That and we have to have someone to blame for this, it sounds that much cooler if our web page was attacked by global terrorists.
11. Private Morning calm left an ephemeral feeling over the waters of Lake Victoria, within the Aether Empire. It was an eerie kind of feeling, those moments before the ocean was scorched forever by those flames that cannot be erased from the memory of history. It was as though history itself was begging mankind to turn from this fateful decision; to embrace the path of serenity. But slowly and surely, the ghostly chirps from the detonation chamber hastened in their tempo. A ten mile circle of water was cleared of all vessels in the prelude of this critical moment - for only the chosen were worthy. Aircraft circled the locus as vultures. For vultures can smell the scent of death, and he was here in carnal being. Death was a metal casing, a cold casket for a body of uranium which awaited it's chosen moment. It's pulse beat with each chirp, ever faster until the sound flat-lined and the world screamed in a sound that could instantly blind the ears and muted vision to an eternal sea of flame. Scientists, clad in black goggles stood in silent reverence, their form like the ancients who were ever mystified at the suns rise each new day. The Vons? They too were there, waiting for the game of war to change forever more. Sensors bobbed up and down along the playful waves. Zarfef then stepped on deck, his lab coat flapping in the wind, he steadied himself along the rail and awaited the fated moment. The skies culled forth fire as reds and golds weaved paths through the clouds and banished the purples into the darkness, dawn had arrived. Alone, Zarfef watched the seconds vanish as the will of the Empire awaited the split of the heavens. "And so Oppenheimer observed the bomb, and he knew the horror he had awakened. So it fell on him with a great and horrible sorrow and he embraced the maya that washed away the world, quoting the Bhagavad Gita. Kalo Asmi Loka-ksaya-krit Pravardho, Lokan Samartum iha Pravattah. Now I have become Death, the destroyer of worlds." Reaching his hand out to the horizon, Zarfef observed a bright flash cover the horizon in an ethereal glow. He watched. he watched with baleful calm as he cradled the flowering nuclear flame within his hand. So fragile an image hath never wrought such wicked destruction. The water was banished in an instant to clouds, and a hideous wind reaped the world of it's unsuspecting life below. The fires of hell churned and reached ever higher until the brilliant globe of fire met the ceiling of the world and condensed into a mushroom cloud. The world was awoken by an ear-shattering scream across the empire, the birth cry of Death. And then, as the creature loomed over those blight waters and left it's observers in trance, it rained. Black rain silently fell upon the boats and a massive wave broke along the shores the lake wide. ...We knew. The world would never be the same again... Public The screen flickered to life to reveal a familiar face to the world - Zarfef had returned. "Hello again. I'm back and I've brought fun for all!" Zarfef smiled, it was as though he was possessed by an unspeakable mania and this visibly showed on his face. "Some time ago, the world thought it would be fun to rain nuclear bombs down from the sky over our little peace of happiness. Odd thing there isn't it? You think the world is nice and peaceful and then someone burns it all up. Needless to say, we felt bad, they wouldn't let us play too. " Zarfef began to laugh, the mania... maybe he should have taken his meds after all. "But as I'm sure you're leaders will soon reveal. We've been invited into the club too now! But I thought you'd be happy to hear it from me first. I hope you didn't miss me too much. Well, I'll have to make it up to you in the future. I look forward to our future discussions. Farewell..." ______________________________ The Aether Empire had indeed detonated it's first nuclear device and it was one of many being brought to bare in a short period of time. A total of ten were planned for the initial batch. The warheads however, were of particularly interesting nature. There were no plans for any "strategic weapons" or delivery systems. Despite Zarfef's seeming madness, he had actually learned a great deal from the end of the Great War of Arabia and had specifically requested that the Empire focus it's arsenal on tactical weapons. The final plan called for a total 7 banshee II deliverable warheads, at 25kTons a piece and 3 artillery shells with a total of 15 kTons a piece. OOC: With all this silliness about waiting for my MP, I finally figured... why not! Let's just enjoy it! After all, buying a little earlier will grant me a steady safe nuclear arsenal anyways that I need for my nations defense. And so all members of the Red Sands became nuclear powers.
12. Press Release The Aether Empire today wishes to announce to the world that they believe they have been the target of the infamous Yaza-Hajin. The organization hacked our sophisticated government web-page and replaced it with misleading information. Our programmers are working tirelessly to restore the webpage, but given the lack of internet infrastructure in our nation or the interest in the government overall, we do not believe it will be a problem. Even still, this shows the sophistication and dastardly abilities of this terrorist group! We think they should put aside their religious ideology and practice more zanny world domination. The website itself is too terrible to show on international TV and we urge people to avoid it for the time being.

14. Spy roll request for the hacking of a webpage: RP LINK: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=94159&view=findpost&p=2501033
15. IC: The Aether Empire in their investigation of this group discovers the webpage (using web-bots and intelligence officers... and Google) and launches it's own covert cyber attack. They attempt to hack the webpage in order to post a replacement and they also planned on changing the administrator passwords. The new webpage plays a hyperactive version of the Hamster Dance in the background while the background images are set to repeating animated gifs of the chemical missile strikes as they flew into Mecca during the Great War of Arabia. The page had the following text written in bright neon pink in all caps, centered
"U Mad? This webpage is brought to you by the following world leader:"
This was followed by a centered animated gif of Zarfef shaking his booty at the camera while slapping it... nothing else could be seen (anything that would give away the identity was missing) just a slow shaking back end of Zarfef's trousers with an occasional slap teasing the terrorists for all time in comic shenanigans. The actual posting of this information however, wasn't even done in the Aether Empire and was instead performed through a mesh of other personal computers which were already accessible via back door trojans, which caved in to allow them "root access". They would take over one computer and have that computer take over another in a complex mesh around the globe to help hide their identity, and after they were finished they would leave, deleting any evidence of their actions on the computer with a self deleting executable when the deed was complete. ... Well, at least that's what they wanted to do. Unfortunately, they got turned around somewhere and ended up hacking the Aether Empire's webpage instead. As a consequence, Zarfef woke up to check his web mail and discovered that much to his surprise, he was staring at a picture of himself... mocking himself. That had rather unexpected consequences, he mused as his face puckered as though he'd bitten a sour lemon. To make things worse, while he should have spent more time trying to work on the recent tensions with his neighbors to the north, he instead was spending time working on the line with tech support halfway around the world trying to correct the problem, only to be told repeatedly that if he didn't know the password, they couldn't believe he wasn't an impostor. This however, was just after they asked him his name and then proceeded to verify it by telling him his date of birth and social security number. Of course, to make sure that no one could ever change the page, the Aether Empire had worked especially hard to make a difficult password. Then, to insure no one discovered it, the lead programmer ate the password. Yes, as in he literally swallowed the paper. The nation now awaited the paper to "finish it's course" in the hopes of recovering whatever code might remain in the... remains. In the meantime, they released a press release. OOC: I always felt we needed more crazy people running around the globe. This might just be an interesting group added to the CN universe. That stated, it needed more LOLZ . Spy Roll Link And! It fails . Wow, that was fun to write.
16. The Aether Empire finds it a bit unnerving to have Grassy Plains so eager to hold onto the regions both north and south of our nation. If anyone should have right and ownership to this land, it would be the Aether Empire, as we were the ones who were just involved in the war that brought about that regimes end. We of course, cannot forget that this came about with much aid from the rest of Africa, but we chose to leave the peoples of this area to a future of their own choosing instead of leading an occupation of their lands, it seems a shame to do so now in the name of politics when they have done us no harm since. OOC: Its open white space, why not just leave it to new players? Oh, and I'm not inactive from the forums completely, just digging pencils into my skin as I wait painfully for a MP T_T. Just ONE more cycle .
17.
fifteen minutes later, the craft engaged humanity's first FTL drive, and sped off to Mars. After arriving,
OOC: Wouldn't it be better to say "before starting" given that using an FTL would theoretically bring you backwards in time? (e.g. the sentence would make more sense if you said, "Before they started and in Mars orbit, they gathered their bearings, and got a good deal of fanfare from the planet below on their comms, then the Swiftstar headed home... for the first time engaging humanity's first FTL drive as they were still yet to leave Earth as evident by the doppelganger in Earth's orbit looking oddly at them when they returned.") Now, if I had an IC comment, I would have the AE request that they aim a projectile using this drive directly at Earth using the FTL. They would like to observe first hand, negative imaginary energy. That stated, is this actually cannon? I mean, lasers on planes and anti-matter bombs seem easier then this. Besides which, if they set it directly at the speed of light instead of faster, they could create an infinite quantity of energy in an impactor; it would be a great universal annihilation device... Actually, never-mind, on that thought I need 10,000 tech. >: D
18. Much had come to pass within the evil Aether Empire, much more was soon to come. The Empire had been asleep for a great long time after the war with Tanzania, at least on the outside. But one could observe from simple observation that much was stirring just beneath the surface. In the "rebuilding", the Aether Empire was giving the nation a vast face-lift. Obsidian toned towers cut shadows across the streets below and computers within commonly gnawed away at various bits of data that were force fed to them via wires and cable-tubes that hung around their embryonic metallic sacs. The Scroll of the Essenes had at last been translated, and it was good indeed. Along the hidden underground highway systems, side tunnels had been developed for the processing of uranium and rows of power cables were connected to the construction of a new "secret facility". Nothing special of course, as "secret" was attached to almost any creation of the shadow government. But a new dawn was about to rise from the shadows as a second sun was anticipated in the near future. _________________________ Beneath the surface, scientists scurried to and fro around a singular overweight explosive device. They were preparing the gun-type warhead and carefully reviewing their calculations and plans for the destined day of the great kablewy. A explosive sneeze of galactic proportions! Well... planetary. Soon the Aether Empire would be going nuclear. Meanwhile, the Banshee II was now fully implemented across the empire, with 15 missiles at constant standby. Ten heavy strategic bomber squadrons had also been commissioned for use of the new Ragnarok R-3 Strategic Heavy Bomber. It was a weapon however, that was still shrouded in mystery, only observed as of yet in blueprint form. This was mostly because the Ragnarok Division of Tensor Industries was also working on a second complimentary craft, one meant for carrying out tactical strikes and for providing air-support to their bomber fleet (as the current A-37s were not fit for the task with their 3rd world weaponry). However, this second task had been months behind without the full understanding of the The Scroll of the Essenes in hand. It was hoped, with the last bits of information acquired from those embryonic computers, that this would all change. And to what end? Why to mayham, or to unity within Africa. Whichever was more interesting.
19. Just a curious question... but why is there a UMS-NON protectorate if there is no more UMS?

22. Private - The Development of the Banshee II Intermediate Range Missile During the recent Aether-Tanzania war, it was the Banshee missile that proved itself the most valuable military asset to the empire. However, the war depleted the empire of it's Banshee missile stock-piles and the old weapon has become vastly dated, having limited range and slow deployment times in addition to older electronics that had to be "retrofitted" in a jerry rigged manner to produce any accurate results. It is certain that if the Aether Empire had faced a more advanced military opponent in Tanzania, the results of the missile strikes would not have been as effective. The Aether Empire however, has been preparing for the Banshee's eventual replacement for quite some time. AEARAP (Aether Empire Advanced Rocketry Aeronautics Program) has been in charge of this operation and testing began recently on the newest Banshee II Intermediate range missile (Pictured below) Fig 1: The above picture displays the Banshee II Intermediate range missile. It should be noted that the dashed lines represent the "folded-down" position for the air-fins during the primary missile launch stage. These wings are then deployed in the second stage where they are used to add maneuverability to the missile, but would hamper it's maximum speed during the initial launch stage if always deployed. The missile has two primary stages. The first stage is used to bring the rocket within range of it's target using less sophisticated guidance to get the secondary stage within the region of it's goal. The initial target of this stage is pre-planned for re-entry in a region that minimizes threats to the secondary stage. The secondary stage on the other hand is a far more advanced cruise-style warhead delivery system. This stage is far more maneuverable and provides the accuracy needed to bring the munitions to it's target. On board maneuvering is controlled by computer* and can be set to a variety of paths both pre-planned and changing according to the situation dictated by command and control. Maneuverability is less important for the Banshee II's primary stage because these missiles are to be launched from underground (using the underground infrastructure development) or (future) underwater platforms. These platforms will get the rocket to max speed rapidly, before it can be targeted by enemy anti-missile systems that can penetrate into Aether or neutral territory. The Aether Empire is expecting to phase out any new Banshee missiles that were ordered and 15 Banshee IIs have been ordered for production shortly after testing has been completed. The contract for the technology development and creation of the weapons has been given to Tensor-Industries. Primary stats for the missile are as follows. Max Range: 4,000 km (Primary) + 500 km (Secondary) Primary Stage Speed: 5 kms/sec Secondary Stage Speed: 0.5 kms/sec Munitions: EMP, Biological, Chemical, Nuclear, High Explosive, Cluster Explosives and other future warheads. Guidance: Intertial, GPS, With Terrain mapping updates via Doppler radar. *Human control is also optional, as the Aether Empire is still using an onboard camera for guidance if necessary or to locate infra-red target's provided by ground crew. EDIT: For a bigger meaner picture, see my DA Account, http://danteaffinityxd.deviantart.com/#/d304wpn
23. I would be honored to make that GBR base Subtle, in fact, I think I eventually will if you'll still accept me. This might be just a short while though, my friends could use just a bit more of Zarfef - and so I'm going to keep him up in Tanzania until it gets wiped out. That will give me time to boost up my tech and other stats anyways to make a more interesting game play when I get to that point. -Zarfef
24. The way I RP (and the way I'd like to be RP'd with) is that unless I have a pre-planned role-play going on, noone kills anyone elses characters. Even if you drop five nukes on them. That's why I kept the leaders of Tanzania alive at the end of the Tanzania-AE war, they may never be RP'd again, but I wouldn't want to destroy them. This is just good RP etiquette. Another reason to never kill other people's characters is because they may make a psychological transference of themselves onto the character. It's fairly well documented that one of the reasons that people can identify with heroes in myths is because they can visualize themselves as the hero. Likewise, when we RP with a character we like, someone we may see as "the hero", we will likely consider them to be "us". They act somewhat how we might envision a part of ourselves acting. Then any real violence towards the character translates to psychological violence to the player. It's kind of like taking a picture of them they've given you and setting it on fire after stabbing it... while in front of them.
