  1. To say that the suspension of democratic institutions and the overthrow of Euskadi’s elected government have caused consternation in Conti would be an understatement. The news prompted the Great Council to convene an emergency session to debate the latest developments in the country. The matter of is importance as it concerns a key trading partner and a staunch ally of Conti, whose unwavering support during this summer’s stand-off with the Chimairan Republic has not been forgotten. Yet this raises major questions about the future of the Iberian Pact. We are not convinced that the legally binding aspects of the pact can still apply to fundamentally anti-democratic parties. This will have to be debated at the highest level between members of the Pact.
  2. Conti's Councillor of State for Commerce enquires if this radical shift in policy entails the freezing of foreign assets. This would be a highly disturbing and regrettable action and the Bailiwick would be entitled to seek full compensention for all losses incurred.
  3. The Bailiwick of Conti supports Scotland's decision to reintegrate Galicia and Extremadura into it's dominion. We believe that a fair and sound administration can only benefit the population of the two provinces and bring about stability in the peninsula.
  4. The Bailiwick of Conti will be represented at the summit by the Councillor of State for Commerce who has been given plenipotentiary powers to negotiate an agreement.

  7. Archives Ident. 2009/009M The Great Council in session assembled. Conti, the 08th October 2009 The Paymaster General and acting Bailiff of Conti was the first to speak on behalf of the Council of Ten after the passing of the Admiralty Act: “[…] this key piece of legislation paves the way for the creation of a navy entrusted with the responsibility to uphold our democratic values, safeguard our independence and fulfil our treaty obligations. We have learned a valuable lesson from last summer’s combined threats of the Krieg Empire in the Iberian Peninsula and of the Chimairan Republic at the very doorstep of our dominion: the vital importance of possessing a blue-water navy whose capability to project power goes beyond the simple policing of our home waters […].” The present act establishes the Admiralty of Conti and the office of Lord High Admiral. The Lord High Admiral, appointed for a two-and-half-year term by the Great Council, is responsible for overseeing the administration of the navy in conjunction with the Councillor of State for War. The Admiralty, in conjunction with the Controller-General of Finances and the Paymaster General will oversee the construction of a Shipyard, Drydock, Naval Academy and a Naval Contruction Yard. A budget of €800,000 has been earmarked for the completion of these four projects. The Naval Infantry Regiment will be transferred under the authority of the newly-created Admiralty of Conti forming the nucleus of our future blue-water navy. The flag of the Admiralty will serve as the Naval Jack of Conti.

  13. Well since the map is going to be updated shortly, just posting a reminder: Please make a few changes to the map of Conti: Colour should be yellow. "Bailiwick of Conti" should be above the northern shore of Brittany and on the left of the Channel Islands (both possessions of Conti) I slightly modified the border with France. There is a tiny bit on the current map that does not belong to Conti but to France. Done, thanks. It should look like this: Thanks for this.
  14. Congratulations to Spain for becoming the latest member of the Iberian Pact. We now share the largest free trade area of the continent.
  15. And so the island of Great Britain is once again unified under the banner of Scotland. A most pleasing development. The Bailiwick of Conti has already made its opinion clear about the collapse of Krieg, a regime it has always refused to recognise. [...] Scotland's contribution to the demise of this dangerous rogue state has been decisive and greatly appreciated in Conti. We can only join Euzkadi in wishing inhabitants of the Iberian peninsula a peaceful and prosperous future now that this threat has been permanently removed.
  16. Guildhall of Conti, 02nd August 2009 Official Gazette of Conti New Council Hall unveiled. The original Council Hall situated on the second floor of the Guildhall proving too small and inadequate to house the 100 members of the Great Council, the decision to extend and redecorate the room was finally adopted last March and after an intensive five months-long renovation, the Noble Institution will soon resume legislative work in a vastly enhanced setting. Although it will formally be inaugurated for the opening session of the Great Council in October, the new Council Hall has been unveiled today and presented to Councillors. Architect Mr Yann Godard’s neo-gothic design was praised on the occasion as “truly worthy of the greatness of our institutions” by the Bailiff.

Declaration published in Conti’s official gazette, the Journal of Records, on the 18th August 2009. “Recents events in Europe have convinced the Bailiwick that neutrality is no longer a viable option to secure its borders and protect its sovereignty.
