    I have decided that my laptop simply will not cut it for gaming anymore and since I have been pulling extra shifts at work for the last couple of months I have some money floating around and I have bitten the bullet in a manner of speaking and I am building myself a desktop system again.
    Here are the parts I am planning on buying:
    CPU = Intel i5 2500 (3.3 GHz quad core)
    Motherboard = GigaByte Z68XP-UD3
    Memory= 8GB Patriot Viper-Xtreme Div.2
    HDD = Seagate SATA 3 2TB (General storage)
    SSD HDD = Patriot SATA3 PYRO 60GB (solid state drive for windows install, swap file & a few game installs)
    Video = Gigabyte GTX550Ti
    PSU = Coolermaster GX Power 750W
    Case = Coolermaster NV-692A-KWN2 Nvidia Editon Adanced II
    Optical = LG Bluray combo
    Monitor = 20' BenQ monitor
    So tell me what you think, is this a decent selection of parts for a budget gaming computer.

    Today I got a most unusual request, my mother recently got some money from my stepfather's life insurance and had $300 left over after all the necessary things were taken care of and most uncharacteristically she decided to ditch the antique IBM netvista desktop that has been in her office for the last 10 years (it still works too! I kept it well maintained on my periodic visits) in favor of a brand new machine. So I set off into town with her to see what I could manage to rustle up from the computer store.
    And I found a ex-demonstrator inspiron 15 Dell laptop that was marked down to $275 (it was the last one!), so now she has a decent machine to surf Facebook with. It is actually quite a decent machine and I have put a couple of games on it as well and they play quite well.

    You will need.
    1 x Clean tea pot (it is important that the pot is clean so that stale tannins that are in the residue inside of a dirty pot will not make your tea bitter)
    1 x Clean kettle (Ensure that there is no scaling inside the kettle if you live in an area with hard water since this will alter the taste, if you live in an area with hard water consider using spring water or distilled water for perfect tea)
    1 x stove, burner or hotplate
    1 x Thermometer
    1 x Teaspoon
    1 x Tea strainer
    1 Teaspoon of tea leaves per cup to be served
    1 Clean tea cup per serving
    White sugar to taste
    Milk to taste
    Lemon (optional, instead of milk)
    The method:
    1: Add sufficient water to fill the teapot and add the same number of cups of water as there are to be cups of tea served and heat the water to the correct temperature as shown in figure 1 over the stove.
    2: Warm the tea pot to the same temperature by filling it with water and discarding it, this will ensure the water is not cooled by the teapot and the tea will steep at the correct temperature.
    3: Add the tea to the teapot and then add the water and allow to steep of the period indicated in the chart below. Do not exceed this time since the tea will become bitter.
    4: Strain the tea into a cup and then add milk and then sugar to taste, a squeeze of lemon may be added instead of milk if you prefer.
    5: Serve immediately
    6: Additional infusions can be made from the same tea leaves to the limit indicated in the chart below. This should be done immediately since if the leaves go cold they may become bitter or contaminated.

    I broke a tooth the other day and I just got back from the dentist today after having it extracted. So I am floating on a sea of Novocaine and happy gas at the moment. But hopefully the pain will stop now and I can get back to being angry at the CN world in general before long (I hate everyone equally so it is really neutral. ).

    In order to combat speeding the transport department of Novus Niciae has implemented the following policy.
    Speed cameras have been set up along all major transport routes and all vehicles that are photographed at or below the speed limit are entered into a lottery to win cash prizes, these prizes are funded by the fines imposed upon those who are caught breaking the speed limit.
    OOC: This is based of a RL Swedish policy.

    Subject: Progress report.
    The reconstruction of my underground capital city is nearing completion and most of the vital civilian infrastructure has been brought up to 100% efficiency.
    The medical facilities are reporting a 35% increase in the birth rate and a 70% improvement in recoveries from radiation exposure.
    Food production facilities have been expanded as well with 2 new hydroponic farms being installed on level 2.
    Mining is producing usable limestone and iron deposits so the supplies of building materials and excavated areas is now adequate for our needs.
    Security reports that the gate area is still sealed and the crime rate remains remarkably low.
    The sports and recreation ministry reports of the construction of the recreation area on level 4 and 5 is complete and we can now follow all the sports we enjoyed on the surface.
    Communications reports that the data net is now able to cope with official internal transmissions only at this point although in six months we will expand it to include civilian users.
    Transportation reports all the lifts and trains are working at full capacity and a upgrade is needed in the near future.

    I got myself a new iPad because of the price drop, because of the new model coming out at the end of the month.
    It is the 32gb 3G version so I am now a lot more mobile with my web browsing.
    I am currently using it to browse this forum and play CN amongst other things and it is a real joy to use.

    On the 4th I went to see Rammstein at the Adelaide big day out.
    This undertaking required that I make an epic 26 hour road trip from Toowoomba with 4 of my friends passing through the ass end of nowhere, stopping off to see the radio telescope at parkes (the one from the movie "The Dish")
    But the concert was awesome and worth every second of the trip, it had all the songs I like with a breathtaking pyrotechnics show, and in the end Till from Rammstein rode a six foot long phallus that sprayed foam and confetti onto the crowd.
    Here are some pictures from the trip and more will come when I get back (I am currently in a hotel in chinatown and will be back on the road to return home tomorrow).

    Well we certainly have a monumental war going on here, DOWs are flying in all directions.
    And it is certain that when the dust clears and the winners have their way with the losers there will be a change in the political landscape.
    So... the big question is what do you think the CN world will be like six months from now?
    How will things change?
    Who will be top dog?
    And how will this effect everyone?

    I finally got around to buying a cheap graphics tablet today and I have been having a bit of a fiddle around with it to get used to it and I am very impressed, it makes drawing on the computer a lot more like drawing with the conventional pencil, paper and ink that I am used to. For the moment I am using photoshop CS3 since it came bundled with the tablet, but if anyone knows of a better program please leave a comment.

    I got cut off by flood waters today as I made my way home from work, lucky I managed to make it back home and my car still works and I have not sunk... The guy on the radio says this is the worst flood Toowoomba has had for the last 50 years, So I might have to move off into an evacuation center at the uni if it gets any worse here. I am going to head up there and take a sleeping bag and sleep in my office there.

    I have been looking at all the 1000+ day posts and realized that it completely slipped my mind to make an announcement about my 1000 day anniversary, and since it is a bit late now I will be building up to a mega celebration on my 1337 day anniversary.
    In this initial stage I will be trying as many of my stats to read 1337 as is practical for the big day and make a announcement on OWF.
