Imperial Census Bureau Announces Completion of Empire-wide Census Hansong, Empire of Korea: Though the Empire has always maintained a census of all portions of the empire, each province was to perform it on their own and on their own time frame provided that they simply had one once each decade. Therefore, it has been some time since there has been a nearly completely accurate population count of all citizens of the Empire. However, the Imperial Census Bureau is proud to announce that it has compelted its first simultaneous empire-wide census and has come to rather accurate count of the current population of the Empire. The Imperial Census Bureau also reports the following breakdown of major ethnic groups in the Empire: 85% Korean, 14% Han Chinese, 1% Other (Japanese, Swedish being largest of these). The ICB reports the following breakdown of major religions in the Empire as well: 94% Christian (68% Protestant, 26% Roman Catholic), 4% Buddhist, 1.5% None, 0.5% Other. The census has determined that there is currently a literacy rate of 97.55% in the Empire with the younger generations (5-29) being 99.8% literate.

The Empire is still developing an anti-nuclear weapon/inter-continental ballistic missile defense program (OOC: I don't have an SDI yet ). However, a number of anti-cruise missile defensive points are set up across the nation which use a combination of guided short-range missiles and AA flak. Of course, these buildings are also designed to withstand a hit from a force as strong as a 747 jumbo jet ramming the building at significant speeds. Since the Empire is also a peaceful nation that remains nominally neutral in almost all foreign affairs, we hope that there would be little need to test our defenses or the structural integrity of our buildings against heavy explosions and otherwise.

OOC: So noted. Also, let it be noted that all of these projects (exception being the KORAIL tower) were started ~2000-~2005 at right around the same time. Besides, I do have a lot of national surplus. I haven't been doing ANYTHING development-wise or major funding wise in a while.

The Empire of Korea, having amassed a large fortune over the past few years due to widespread economic success of her industries and the noticeable lack of massive financial spending on any large scale, has decided to begin a change in course. By decree of the Empire and by generous ambitions by private companies (the largest of these being Samsung Group, LG Group, KORAIL, and H-D Group), Korea shall begin a large number of massive infrastructural projects that include a number of modern Sky Scraper buildings. To start it off, the Ministry of Transportation has announced the Korean Train eXpress (KTX) high speed bullet train system reaching from Chongjin to Hamhung to Wonsan to Pyongyang to Hansong to Daejeon to Mokpo and Busan. This high speed railway will have a maximum speed of 350 km/h and provide a much more economic and time saving alternative to the current conventional rail system and regional flights. To a new era of even faster travel across the Empire! All Aboard! (Click image for a nice video. ) In addition to supporting the Ministry of Transportation in the formation of KTX, Korea National Railroad (KORAIL) has had plans for the KORAIL Towers (final name pending) approved for building. This is the most ambitious of all of the major singular building projects in Korea and the final buildings are approved to be up to 620 meters in height. Work has begun already on the construction of the KORAIL Towers in Yongsan, Hansong. Below is an artists rendition of the design plans for the KORAIL Towers. The next largest project is backed by the massive Samsung Group and is building in the port city of Busan. The Imperial Triple Towers is in and of itself an engineering marvel despite not being the largest of the planned buildings (it is to stand at 560 meters). A trio of towers will be built sharing a common base with the towers escalating in height. Below is an artists rendition of the design plans for the Imperial Triple Towers. With yet another ambitious project, the LG Group has announced plans for the building of the Life's Good Tower in Pyongyang. Decking in at an impressive 555 meters in height, the Life's Good Tower is coming to be a beacon of light to a city that was once a very dark and lifeless place. Hyundai-Daewoo Group (H-D Group for short) has recently announced plans to modernize and finish the incomplete Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang. The building, which was slated to finish a long time ago, has since been abandoned and overrun. Below is a current picture of the Ryugyong Hotel. H-D group has stated in public that it will rename the building but has not stated what it will rename it to.

For some time, the vast majority of the residents of the Yeonbyeon Autonomous Korean Prefecture of Jilin in Yamatoan Manchuria has been extremely pro-Korean. The number of those loyal to Yamato is low. At last, these peoples--many of whom are of the Korean ethnic group--have to ability to choose their future. With the Marado Resolution signed between Yamato and Korea, the peoples of Yeonbyeon speak out! Will they follow their hearts and minds and join the Empire of Korea or shall they remain content with what they have? This plebiscite will last for twenty four hours.

The Imperial Office of Emperor Kim Kee Hyuk has present the following resolution to the government of Yamato. The Marado Resolution 1. Yamato shall acknowledge its fault publicly and also acknowledge its unwarranted hostile and imperialistic action against our nation. 2. Yamato and Korea shall hereby enter into a perpetual pact of neutrality. 3. Yamato and Korea shall begin an era of economic cooperation--specifically in regards to the Baekdu Region in Northern Korea/Southern Manchuria. 4. Yamato shall agree to permit the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture of Eastern Jilin to vote in a plebiscite in order to determine the fate of the prefecture as almost the entirety of the populace is highly Pro-Korean.

Private discussions mediated by Korea's great allies have progressed between Yamato and Korea. Details of an updated resolution have not been released however it is rumored that most of Korea's original terms were simply to put a heavy weight on the table of discussions.

The first term is the only of those terms that can be negotiated. Regardless of whether the said government officials choose seppuku or not, they will have to be removed for talks to go forth. The Empire thanks those who have voiced support.

The Five Demands: 1. All members of the high government of Yamato (including the current head and second in command) are to commit honorable suicide in following with Japanese tradition of a samurai saving honor in the face of defeat. 2. Yamato shall agree to become a special sector governed indefinitely by the nations of the Far East in order to create a more friendly society and nation. 3. Yamato shall agree to remove all "racist" policies and outlaw them for all of eternity. 4. Yamato shall agree to extradite any and all persons who have been called to stand trial for past crimes against other nations while loyal members of Yamato's predecessors. 5. Yamato shall agree to disarm completely and totally for an indefinite period of time (as in, no citizen of Yamato, private or public, is allowed to own a firearm or any other item considered to be a weapon by a panel of international judges). Marado has always been a part of the Jeju province and, as always, Jeju province has been part of Korea proper. Since the agreement with Palintine, all parts of Korea proper have been a part of the Empire. We find your excuse laughable and consider your encroachment as an act of unwarrented agression.
