It is with regret that, a little over 72 hours ago, we have notified Old Guard that we were activating Article 5 of the MDoAP that tied our two alliances together. The terrible disease known as apathy has apparently engulfed them for too long; we barely had a word in over two years and when time came to fight side by side once more, their banners stayed in their halls, collecting dust.

As a relic of a forgotten era, our treaty stipulated that, if cancelled, a Non-Aggression Pact would take its place.

As we were Old Guard's last partners, we have decided to extend our protection over them for a period of sixty days. We hope that this time will give their last active members time to figure out what they want to do with their alliance: find a new home or take up the challenge of reviving it.

    To old friends,

We have just completed our latest cycle of elections and change prevailed as the Voodoo Nova-Bob Ilyani junta was brought down and we have entered a new era of Peace, Strenght and Prosperity. Participation was good and there was little to no voter fraud.

Here is the brand new government of Paradoxia:

    Grandmaster: Yevgeni Luchenkov

    Grand Hospitaller: Salajol

    Grand Chancellor: Centurius

    Our Heptagon goes as follow:

    -Ardus

    -Bodvar Jarl

    -Deus  (just elected)

    -Lum

    -Megamind

    -SiCkO   (just elected)

    -WalkerNinja

Lastly, the previous government - with agreement from just about everybody - has awarded Lum L. Lumwood with the Platypus Ordinary, our Order's highest medal.

Lum is not a well known face across the cyberverse: he has never occupied FA positions, never held a major office or been in many alliances.

However, ever since he joined Paradoxia in 2007, Lum has been a fiercely loyal and active member, working tirelessly for several departments, habitually from the shadows. He's helped the Hospitallery, the Military Command, the Chancellery. He's fought valiantly, in the glorious name of Johan, in every war we've been engaged in. More importantly, he's kept hundreds of nations from disappearing from the face of Digiterra. Without him and his ever watchful eye, our Halls wouldn't be half as populous as they are right now.

    Here's to you,

  3. I think it was clear that EQ was winning this war, even if it was only through attrition. However for them to achieve total victory would have required them to sacrifice so much that many of them found this arrangement more palpatable. The amount of resources, nations and everything else they would have had to give up to destroy competence would have broken many of their own alliances, and left many others extremely depleted.

Competence clearly knew this, and it appears the higher ups used it on the negotiation table.

I'd like to make clear I'm not implying that EQ didn't have "the stomach" to finish this war, only that it was not in many of their own interests to go for a total victory especially as some of the agreements between the EQ side appear slightly shakey (atleast as an outside observer)

On the otherside, this rhetoric about Competence getting it's asskicked is just in poor taste. Competence didn't get it's ass kicked any more than EQ "Chickened out of achieving total victory."  What happened was that both sides saw the writing on the wall, the high costs of a continued war and realised that no matter there opinions toward each other it was not in their own self-interests to continue.

    Most excellent post.

  4. Umbrella and Argent just drifted apart, I for one (having been in Argent for a considerable length of time) have no ill will towards Umbrella whatsoever.

TOP? TOP can go frak themselves for all I care.  We were close allies for a long time, yes. But for TOP members who certainly should know better to walk around here acting like we suddenly just left you in the dust through no fault of your own is disingenuous even by the incredibly loose standards of the OWF.

    Feeling like a victim much?

I know most people have a difficulty admitting they have chosen a path without first blaming others but you did choose a path. We simply pointed out to your other most gracious friend Omniscient that it was rather disingenuous, as you say, to claim he chose his "longest allies" when he ditched both Umbrella and TOP to favor IRON and AI.

We didn't complain about it but some of you in Argent seem to have this conception that we were monsters to you and you were "forced away from us". We're not the ones who drastically decided to change their government line-up and outlook on politics by doing a 180 and lining with the moralists. You did.

Now, I don't expect much from you in specific, Trimm. Your hatred of Paradoxia has been pretty steady for the past few years.

  5. You and your allies had intentions of rolling Valhalla and later AI. This is a common fact with indisputable evidence if you're going to try to argue this after everyone has viewed the evidence. AI were our friends. So we acted accordingly. Add to that derogatory comments were made about our allies in TIO, UE, and GPF; that once our closest allies in IRON chose a side we also made our choice.

Sure Argent specifically was never under the gun, but this side of the web where our closest friends and longest allies certainly were. We chose our side. You chose yours. We beat the shit out of you. End of story.

Besides representing Argent and UMB as bffs in the run up to the war is just completely incorrect. This has a very circular feel to it now though. So unless you need something clarified, I don't feel the need to respond any longer.

Don't take it to the bank - I haven't verified it - but I'm pretty sure two of your three longest allies were TOP and Umbrella.

I'd love to see that evidence that our side was about to roll AI. I've heard a lot of "it's clear, it's indisputable". Never seen the logs.

  6. Let's examine the post in question:

I know that has been CnG/DH's stance for a long time.  Its why the last gglobal war (and the first) you ever saw them take reps in was bi polar when they were pre-empted.   There have been no reps for the last three global wars from us.

CnG/DH is the antecedent.  In grammar, the antecedent is a noun, noun phrase, or clause to which an anaphor refers in a coreference.

Them, they, and us are the anaphora.  Anaphora are a type of expression whose reference depends upon another referential element. Pronouns.

A coreference is when multiple expressions in a sentence or document refer to the same thing.

And you guys aren't even members of NEW or Grämlins.  AirMe, I'd expect even the most blind toadie to at least recognize his own language even in a political situation.

Oh, I guess ODN fought all those wars in support of reps taken because they just despise them.

English is still the third language I learned, growing up.

I thought the "us" could stand alone in that last sentence and refer solely to ODN. I do appreciate the lesson, less the tone.

My point stands, though: you can't blame ODN for reps taken by GOONS in 2011. Else, you also have to blame many of your current allies who stood by the GOONS in 2011, much like ODN did.

  7. It's the same concept.

I would identify it as worse for your artwork. I posted a victim, your posting a flag from a regime responsible of murdering millions. A flag, is a symbol of pride and honor. You using that flag and attempting to draw yourselves as that regime is just as bad as posting the original flag.

I'm happy you have no grasp whatsoever on reality.

  8. Weren't you one of the butt hurt members complaining that references to the WWII/holocaust time period greatly offends you? Now that its pro-TOP its cool though, right? :awesome:

.... Also Chax, weren't you crying about it as well?

    Never change, Never change.

    ProTip:

After the huge out-cry with a picture of a girl who was a victim of a mass murder. Competence using pictures of Jihad, Terrorism, Stalin-Themed Soviet Mass Murder, and Confederate Pro-Slavery Propaganda should cause the same emotions.

I give you a + for trying hard, and a + for organizing. However, you need to stop your propaganda referencing mass murders if it is emotionally compelling towards you. It would make you look better.

I don't think there is any equivalent between artwork depicting Umbrella as Anne Frank explicitly and us mocking the other side (who labeled us as nazis/hitler) by making sigs with a gothic imagery that looks like WW1-WW2 german propaganda.

  9. I only 'skit' around targets if GOONS considers breaking staggers on nations at my level at the time as such.

I just came out of wars recently (as is evidenced by my War screen), those guys were busted down below 1k NS and I couldn't re-attack, I found you (a member of an AA where assistance had been requested), and one whole ODN guy who had open slots. So yeah. Here we are.

You were actually pretty happy to have a competent opponent finally up until this morning, so IDK why you're whining here instead of whining at me in one of the PM's you've sent.

Either way, I'm enjoying the War, so, that's all that matters.

The Stratephor wants you to know he appreciates your fighting spirit and your insouciance when it comes to war matters. You should officially delegate, if not outright outsource, your powers to The Stratephor so you can relax and just enjoy the war, since it's all that matters.

The added benefit is that you wouldn't have to worry about who's declaring war, who's ordering this and that, etc.
