Fixed it for you.  I won't go so far as to blindly accuse you of farming multis for tech with no actual evidence to the fact.  And if you had evidence, I have no doubt that you would report that to the proper authorities with a smile.

Steeldor had 60k tech levels erased, go ask him why. And that's only the part that was proven beyond any doubt, you can bet on it, considering that he didn't simply get the boot as it should have. Nothing personal against him BTW, according to the little I know about him and the extremely few interactions that date to several years ago, personally he's way more than decent and a nice person when you deal with him.

It's definitely not the DBDC only. Pacifica and their QT tech stuff perfectly align with the same organization with the same people that in another game got banned for having exchanged "tech farm" activity for Korean comics, or something like that. In mass quantity.

The game administrator has all the means to go after this stuff and deter people from doing it. I'm perfectly fine with him not doing it, in this very thread and just a couple of pages ago zog explained that it's probably a good business model, and this game is for free, I definitely don't complain with him. In fact I'm only grateful for the fun i had that many years ago by playing it.

I'm also happy that others like you seem to still be able to enjoy playing the game as it should be, good for you.

At the same time I occasionally casually enjoy pointing out how cheaters pat themselves on the back for "being the best" in the game, honestly it's funny. I have no time for the game itself because life is much better than this corrupt environment.

Finally I agree that the GPA and me specifically would have no endurance in fighting, why should we put any effort in any fight considering that people that got away with everything put themselves in an unbeatable position? We're not that dense.

Now I could recall that I charged against Matt Miller in the war that saw his fall from being number one, and he had twice my tech levels (also being way better than me at everything on this game), but most people don't know anything about that era. Or I could say that I let my nation fight in a war in which an attack from Cuba was guaranteed - in fact he blitzed a few bystanders just to knock them down the ladder and get in range, as I had the 254th nation by NS (IIRC). But in neither occasion it was a display of "courage", it's just numbers being changed in an overseas server, it would be pathetic to be attached to them and to go to any length to protect or increase them. Wouldn't it?

(Sorry for typos or bad style etc, I typed in a hurry on my phone.)

  2. I didn't closely follow these events because, really...

All I want to say is that DBDC in general and Steeldor specifically wouldn't hesitate in getting 1000+ tech levels from multies, if they felt like getting them. They don't need yet more tech either: after years over years over years of picking certain conflicts and not other ones, everyone should know that it's not like they're going to really ever use all the tech they already have. Few would have that endurance, and those few are not the DBDC.

If they're going the negotiation route for 1k tech levels, instead, you can be sure it's for the fun side of it. I'm not sure whether this makes them look good or bad, nor if the COBRA sphere would or should feel better or worse by knowing it... But it is like it is.

Hailing Junka as right on any matter is a CB.

"Hailing" isn't the verb I'd use, anyway even him can be right, at times. Broken clock, etc.

CBs are a thing of the past, don't be senile! (And this being said by me of all people...)
It's not that you can't attack anymore, just that nobody cares about your excuses - if you feel like providing any, for that matter - and most wouldn't care about the attack either. Some of them -the wisest IMHO - even if they were the target.

jerdge, I will do my best to avoid the path of brutishness however I will occasionally stray and skip down the path of trolololol ;)

Consider your seed, done you've been not to live like brutes, but to follow virtue and knowledge.

This is in Dante's Inferno, Ulysses talking to his men (translation from ancient Italian mine - nothing special BTW, just regular college stuff in this country).

It's one of the most important fragments of Italian literature of all times.

You definitely are done for knowledge. (As for trolololol, Dante's Inferno itself includes a not tiny amount of it, too, so you're in good company at least.)

When Rebel Virginia and The Big Bad both have nothing nice to say, you're doing something right.  Keep up the good work RFI.

Wait, when either of the two said to anyone anything nice? (or that might have been mistakenly taken as nice, from TBB especially)

I guess the next time you'll talk of Grub giving hugs or of GK (or Banned) going hippie...
    Stay real!

Cobra said Kashmir is protected. Lex is the leader of Kashmir. Lex was attacked. Cobra defended Lex. It is quite simple.

The comment made to me in a public room by an adult man I am not friends with and don't know very well was gross. Whether you think it was good, bad, or indifferent is your opinion.

However, it was not why we defended Lex. We, Cobra, defended Lex because we said we would.

This has been the point the whole time, that is the story Cobra sticks to because that is who we are, we defend our friends.

As I wrote, the Lex narrative was good. Keep in mind that I'm talking from an exclusively OOC angle here (IC-ly - had I any IC interest in any IC stuff left in myself, BTW - I couldn't care less about anything and everything, all of you included. Which maybe would be my loss, I don't really know).

Veracity's words (as reported here) were inappropriate and in bad taste. "Gross"  (or "rude") is an apt word to qualify them. My point is that some of those now crying about them didn't even just blink an eye when much worse stuff happened in the past - it was done by their game friends, of course - if they weren't the offender(s), even. Unfortunately, I don't think they just grew up. Considering that verbal abuse didn't magically disappear from their habits, the most probable explanation for their sudden indignation is... of another kind.

AFAIK you're good to go, anyway, your posts here have my personal (and irrelevant ofc) stamp of approval.

And I never claimed innocence. It was awful, sure, but not nearly as awful.

What do you think would be an appropriate action for your case, then?

It doesn't matter (at this point) if what he said was "not that bad".

We felt that it was, and we acted accordingly.

If you feel otherwise, feel free to take him into your alliance and console him.

I already expressed my point of view about pixel action in these cases. It's stupid. Same would be about IC allegiance as a consequence (or consolation) for this stupidity.

Just for the curious, anyway, the GPA was carefully favourable to second occasions (for people we thought could be nice as game friends, not sure about Veracity) but now we're not active enough to take new members, for whatever reason. The alliance is closed.

Like that time I said that bad thing and my alliance was curbstomped for it?

How did you feel about it?

Me telling Canik to suck my balls after a self proclaimed Nazi reroll he was protecting baited me is the exact same thing as Veracity asking an underage player who he barely interacts with if she had been sexually harrassed that day.

I'm surprised I wasnt rolled for that :awesome:

Was your behavior really that innocent, in comparison? Just look how much context you had to frame both situations with, to feel like you had adequately supported your case, and you have the answer.

Anyway, anyone really and honestly thinking that Veracity's actions (as reported in this thread) were that bad and unheard of of an OOC attack is really new to CN. Which basically no one in the OWF is, at this point.

Not to mention that a non-insignificant minority of you righteous people supported, when not cheered to or even participated into, way worse stuff in the past. A distant past, admittedly.

(You made me feel so old that I almost groped for my non-existent wheelchair... I hate you all!)

More importantly, it has always been bad form to bring OOC issues in IC situations, and especially to justify hostile IC actions. Everyone please continue to feel free to do whatever you want here (not that you'd ask me, anyway), but I'll continue to consider utterly absurd to want to rectify or to repay any OOC bad action with pixel action. You too should feel that your actions in that sense are ridiculous and inadequate.

The story about Lex was the good one, you should have stuck to that.

On the other hand, the banter with DA was good, thanks for that.

    As an outside observer

    KxFe.gif

I love the novel(s) and the movies aren't that bad.

No, I am not part of this world.

I occasionally post on this board and I buy tech (not very efficiently) just to have an excuse to chat with people from time to time, but the real reason I didn't let my nation go inactive (again) for is as a form of courtesy to my trade partners.

Simply keeping my nation around requires extremely little effort and, more importantly, almost no time. I have no time for games in general, either on or off line, and I'd never "waste" any of it in actually playing CN (anymore). Even in case my alliance was directly attacked, the most I'd do would be to have my nation be sat by someone that was willing to use it to actually fight (I might lob some nuke while I find a sitter, but don't hold your breath).

Years ago (many of them) it might have been different. Now I am an outside observer.

There are only a handful of entities who have the structure to directly challenge the status quo.

And they all say the same thing...

    20200727-200605.png

As an outside observer I have the impression that you and your friends are free an subject to no status quo.

The sclerotized structure you talk of is beyond repair, there's no return from death. But you can just ignore them, they have no power on you.

On the other hand you may be uncomfortable with that glass ceiling and with the neverending aid raining on your adversaries from above. In that case I recommend moving to another universe. Unless you want to convince people, that's always been possible and it takes ideas, not Nation Strength.

Surprisingly I'm as outraged as you that certain nations and/or alliances seem to find "people" who willingingly log in regularly year after year for the sole purpose of sending out free tech.

Carnivore will show my tech was bought and paid for from alliances across Bob. I've had to put up with the crap of dealing with hundreds of different nations as people quit, slots are poached or people simply renege on deals. That to the back drop of tech prices surging to the now standard 9/100.

Moderation obviously at one stage sought to address the issue - poorly from my perspective. The other problem was that despite glaring evidence only one side of the house was penalised. The other continues to rely on individuals who are really active in-game but have never ventured onto discord or had any activity on a forum in years if alone any

Well I'm not that much outraged, as I stopped really caring about the game more than ten years ago.

I'm still (more or less) buying tech just for the small interactions it entails, but I understand your tale of having to deal with many sellers. My point was that, worse than the poor maintenance and development, was looking the other way when cheaters seemed to be bringing money for the game developer. (The game is for free, I say "worse" as in "the game got objectively worse", I'm not complaining and mine is not a moral criticism.)

One side of the house was very mildly penalized, another one was blatantly ignored, the rest of the game - which was mostly clean - got tired of it.

More than have complaints for the mods, I am honestly amazed by these people - once the DBDC leaders, now the NPO's - which continue to illegally masturbate their pixels for no real gain  in a dead game - a game they heavily contributed to kill - and which occasionally even come out of their holes to brag about it! They genuinely think that some non-braindead one can be in awe at them, it's amazing!

Not to mention their allies (let's call them that way) which continue to provide their support, even when they perfectly know what's been going on and - some of them at least - even if they're openly unhappy about it.

It's stupidity all around, it's a wonder how bad it is and with no redeeming aspect whatsoever... It's not even a funny kind of stupidity.

If only that [cheating] would have been nipped in the bud back then we might still have a thriving community.

Damn these pesky kids driving users away from this continually developed and well maintained game!

It's so much obvious that cheating made it that much worse that, if I bothered, I'd be startled that you replied at all.

I wanted to kill Doombirds once and the world didn't support it because they were all too scared of the cost. It would have been an investment!

Now I hope Doombirds raid the world until the end of days.

At the top it's many many years that raids - or wars in general, for that matter - have no meaning anymore. Top nations are already past the end of days.

Besides that, playing against cheating wouldn't have been an investment, but a waste of time. Some interactions are still pleasant and meaningful, though, better to spend one's time into them.

  14. Thank you JA, your articles are always worth reading. Well done!

One would think that an entity with such tremendous energy would focus it's efforts on immediate threats to its own existence. Instead the squawking inhabitants of the Doomcave choose to rain down upon the smaller alliances, presumably because they are easy targets for their brazen dung flinging.

This has been their modus operandi since their creation, and TBH they are far from having been the only ones doing it.

Not the same without Cuba, Artigo and Oyababy

Immense tech levels achieved thanks to multi rings aside, and the additional tech and land consequently raided from others thanks to that, Cuba acted like an arrogant buffoon on and off the game and Oya's behaviour was just toxic and vile. According to my really non-insignificant knowledge of them they both always acted cowardly (although admittedly I am totally not an expert of the entirety of their past deeds). Their best excuse was that this game from a certain point onward - and since well before their rise - has always been plagued by such behaviours... Which isn't that great of an excuse, if you ask me.

You might have a point on Artigo, AFAIK he wasn't that bad.
