  1. You forget the rest of the paradox. ;)

The compliment is still there. :P

I do not believe the Order, or its leadership, now or in the past, to be infallible. Mistakes have been made on occasion. But I do believe in the virtues of Pacifica and believe that errors can be overcome and that in the end the Order will always, as a whole, do what is right and just.

Now, I am logging out. Goodnight.

  2. You are incorrect about when I joined. I have been here for some time now. I seen it stated by members of the Order that the emperor is the embodiment of the orders and that when he speaks it is law. So either he and the NPO was right or they were wrong about you being a traitor which is it. If they were wrong then the NPO was wrong. If they were right then you are a traitor still and they were wrong when he changed positions on that matter. Also when Moo orchestrated his coup and threw you from power even further showed this.

Also can you please link where the NPO officially stated that they had changed positions on you being a traitor because I was unable to find that in the archives?

A few minutes ago you basically stated to be Pacifican was to always be right. So there is something wrong with your statements.

    No.

I have sufficiently explained this here and elsewhere, too bad I could not attribute your ignorance to youth.

OOC: I have asked that you stay on topic here twice now. Consider this an "official" request.

  3. I understand what you're trying to say, but stating you've never violated a treaty isn't the same as never actually doing so. It's not a matter of pointing to specific instances, we can leave that to the druids, but rather that your philosophy is such that it is impossible for you to do so in your mind. Obviously it would be difficult for people to take your word as you wouldn't even know if you had. It's the old paradox that if god thinks he's perfect he's not.

    Thanks for the compliment.

  4. Good to see you back in the mix Ivan.

While you're here, I have a a question about this "always right" business. What ensures your allies that you will uphold your end of your contracts? I know there's the "the Order always keeps its word" mantra, but that doesn't say anything. First off it could be (read: is) a lie, but if you always see yourselves as right no matter what, a lie is then the truth. Also, you would need not even worry about your word with that philosophy as even if you blatantly disregarded a contract you would still see yourselves as correct. In essence the contracts would only be for them and not you since you see yourselves as having no boundaries.

These are just a couple of the things that pop into my head as questions those who are allies with you may wish to ask, but aren't sure if they should.

Since the NPO has never violated a treaty and is the oldest alliance in the game that can make such a claim

(and it be true) then I can see no reason for any of our allies to have such baseless paranoia.

(Excuse the brevity of my responses, I am doing this from my phone.)

  5. Stravis, from what Ican tell you joined well after it occurred so I will attribute your ignorance to youth. The Emperor, who embodies the spirit and direction of the NPO and the former Emperor, who likewise did so and is still considered to do so by a great many had a disagreement that should have remained private. Unfortunately both sides made errors but in the end the Order prevailed and there was reconciliation without a loss of honor from either side.

The Order remained in the right throughout.

    Now back on topic.

  6. IIRC Emperor Revenge declared you traitor - who speaks for Pacifica if not the Emperor?

    From the NPO wiki:

Emperor Revenge is the embodiment of the NPO, its head of state and sovereign. Emperor Revenge has complete control of all internal and external functions of the NPO, all NPO members have allegiance to the Emperor and he governs with the will and support of the membership.

    From Emperor Revenge's statement, Aug 14 2007, 09:36 PM

Ivan Moldavi betrayed the Order upon his return, using others in threatening Emperor Moo into relinquishing power to him against his will. His actions upon his return were questionable at best and treasonous at worst, poisoning our allies against us, pushing the Order to the brink of war with those whom we have sworn friendship, and engaging in acts of mutiny against the Emperor, threatening to destroy the Order internally himself if he could not command it once more. In the interests of preserving the Order, Ivan Moldavi is hereby expelled from the Order and rule is returned to Emperor Revenge.

Indeed. He retracted that position, as I said above. Is the war effort going so poorly that you need to comment (erroneously) on six month old issues in order to distract the Cyberverse?

  7. Well, there we have it straight from the kings lips. Whatever the NPO says is the truth. All other alliances thoughts, descisions ect mean nothing to the NPO.

The diplomats can discuss what my words may or may not imply, I do not speak for the NPO. When I choose to speak it is for Pacifica and I speak of blood and iron, honor and integrity, truth and justice. I don't care for the niceties of diplomacy.

  9. So I guess when NPO declared you a traitor that was correct no matter how much you yelled about it being wrong? Interesting.

Interesting indeed considering that the Order as a whole never made such a declaration and the individuals that did so were corrected. Please at least have a working knowledge of events before commenting.

  10. FAN is in the right simply by virtue of having taken a position. When that position is expressed, it is inherently the right and correct one. If you are in opposition to that position then you are in the wrong. There is no need to discuss it, that is simply the way it is.

If you said it with conviction it might mean something, if you claim to be in the right and it be true because it came from your mouth then you would be Pacifican.

Since neither of those apply I fail to see your point.

  12. Well, NAAC definitely had the organization and talented leadership, however FAN and \m/ had the activity, so I would consider all 3 of those relatively similar in terms of strongest military.

Also, opponent-wise Legion (from GW4) and NpO (from GW2-4) did the most damage to my nation if that says anything.

    Wait.

You consider NAAC, which was crushed to the point of accepting a handpicked Viceroy first, and then crushed to the point of being replaced by my created alliance in Blue, and then crushed in several subsequent wars after dealing only minimal direct impact on the Orders during GPW to have been the best military?

    Odd.

  13. The NPO, and the NpO which spawned from it militarily and culturally, has consistently had the best military structure and implementation in the Cyberverse.

From the very first wars in which we fought alliances twice our size to crushing defeats to standing alone against the entire organized world to leading large alliance coalitions to grander and grander victories the Order has stood as an example of excellence.

  14. Didn't GATO disband for a couple of days back when the forum was couped? That along with the complete corruption of their culture, integrity and soul in GPW and the following wars would imply that the GATO founded in early January is not the same as the GATO that exists today, thereby making the NPO the oldest alliance in the Cyberverse.

Of course, we all knew the Order was the best alliance in the Cyberverse long before it was the venerable ages old structure it is now. Even when the Cyberverse was full of alliances older and "stronger" than the NPO we were better, so I am uncertain that an age comparison really matters.

  15. I guess getting nominated as a retiree shows my age. :P

    Best Alliance: Guess.

Best Player: Doppelganger (if you don't know who he is then he is beating you)

Worst Player: Is this a technical question? If so I vote for me because I know zero about the technical aspects of the game.

Best Retired Player: I guess I will nominate myself since my ego won't let me consider others as better than me "overall" (while I know of a great many that are better than me at specific characteristics I feel confident that I have a firm grasp - or at least had in my time - of all aspects of gameplay here) and I have somehow been regulated to the retired section of the nominations.

  16. OOC: It's the standard example of doxa used in most philosophy textbooks I have seen (and some political science textbooks even). But please, provide me with an example of how YOU ALONE can prove the earth orbits the sun? You can't, unless you are an advanced astronomer with access to the right equipment, informed of the current theories, and able to do the correct calculations. Feel free to continue this debate through PM.

    OOC:

Can't you do something with a pendulum? I seem to remember reading something about that a couple of decades ago. :P

    I will look it up.

  17. Or you *could* go about your business, make your nation a success, work hard to make whatever alliance you join similarly successful, and engage in less pointless envy and ranting in these forums.

Tonight's CN factoid: GPA passed NPO in total NS a couple months back without firing at shot at them.

    Something to think about, maybe?

No, not really. Having even 10000 nations that have not been battle tested are no match for even a handful of Pacificans.
