Dead Flag Blues

The sun has fallen down
And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles

It went like this

The buildings tumbled in on themselves
Mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble and pulled out their hair

The skyline was beautiful on fire
All twisted metal stretching upwards
Everything washed in a thin orange haze

I said, "Kiss me, you're beautiful..
These are truly the last days"

You grabbed my hand and we fell into it
Like a daydream or a fever

Meanwhile in France

Canuckistan Fleet Admiral Grundy Balzac was having a latte at a Parisian coffee house with friend and aide Seaman Sidney Hornblower.

"My God, listen to this Grundy," said Hornblower reading a copy of yesterday's Le Monde, "the government of Canuckistan collapsed again!"

"Really? Right when I'm on vacation!", said Balzac throwing up his hands in exaggerated disbelief.

"Should we get back there?"

"Hell no! We're going to the Moulin Rouge today."

"Yeah, but isn't this serious?"

"You promised we would be going to the Moulin Rouge today," said Balzac indignantly, "I put up with that boring museum yesterday. Now it's your turn to do me a favour."

"That was the friggin' Louvre, Grundy! Probably the most famous.."

"Don't make me pull rank Sidney!"

"What?"

"You heard me, Seaman Hornblower!"

"OK fine... geez, we'll go to the Moulin Rouge.. and not rush to help our fallen government...," Hornblower rolled his eyes.

Admiral Balzac took a sip of his latte, "I hate how these things get so cold so fast."

OOC: I'm rerolling. What happens to my land? Well I'll tell you since you asked so nicely.

The people in Alberta and Saskatchewan are controlled by HHAYD. When I annexed it a while back, I've maintained with HHAYD that I was only occupying it and only IC considered that land as part of Canuckistan. He has on a few occasions RP'd the people there. In my opinion, with my nation no longer in my control, the land is in anarchy but HHAYD still controls the people and can reclaim it as national territory.

Southern BC falls under JED's Kennedy doctrine and Northern BC is white space.

OOC: So, Canuckistan simply collapsed? Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'll modify the post.

IC:

The apparent collapse of Canuckistan was probable, or at least that's what the J Andrean government saw it. The abrupt end of communications coming from and to Canuckistan, and without a public announcement of any kind, suggested that the Canuckistani government may have collapsed. Why it happened, the J Andreans did not know.

But that is not what they were concerned about. It was the necessity of restoring law and order, one of their trademarks. As southern British Columbia was covered under the Kennedy Doctrine, Canuckistan's collapse automatically activated the Doctrine. As such, the Foreign Ministry announced to the world that southern British Columbia was once again a J Andrean protectorate. However, using the now-former Canuckistan's rhetoric of British Columbia unification, the J Andrean government announced that northern British Columbia would be placed under protection and covered by the Kennedy Doctrine.

After that announcement was made, tens of thousands of J Andrean troops stationed in Oregon boarded C-130 aircrafts and were airlifted into southern British Columbia, taking care not to intrude upon any foreign airspaces along the way. Hours later, the J Andrean troops were airlifted into major cities such as Vancouver, Victoria, Nadrink, Kelowna, and Kamloops, along with others; they were also moved into northern BC, taking over control of the major city of Prince George. Soon, J Andrean troops were manning the borders with the Alaska panhandle, the former Blue Heaven, and Alberta. British Columbia as a whole were garrisoned by J Andrean troops.

OOC2: You did say that northern BC is white space...which doesnt prevent me from claiming it as a protectorate. :P

"The Federation is sad and disappointed to see the Canuck Government once again fall into chaos. We commend our J Andrean friends for rushing in to ensure that the former Canucks will not succumb to the effects of anarchy. On a related note, we would like to warn the rogue Great Lakes Provinces that any attempts to reclaim Alberta and Saskatchewan will be met by force."
