Thus, the GDR is sending 100,000 men with light tank-support into the nation to keep the anarchists under control. For the time being, Switzerland is a GDR protectorate. Whether or not an independent government will form remains to be seen."

Indeed, 100,000 men were moving into the former Bund.

However, there was something else, too. A dozen helicopters were flying towards Bern. Half of them showed the emblem of the Amber Guard.

The other half belonged to the Artemis Corporation, which had its headquarters in the GDR.

A certain man was in Bern, and he needed to be rescued.

"Locate and extract Robin." The orders echoed in all of the P-HUDs of the Artemis shock troops. The orders were repeated, in German, to the Amber Guard. Lt. Surge, nicknamed after the Pokemon character, tapped the P-HUD and waved two fingers down to the pilot of the heli. The lead heli started to lower and the rest of the Artemis helis followed suit. The compound was relatively fortified, but it was pitch dark that night and the only warning the guards around the compound would have was the pitch of the helicopters.

"Flash!" Several missiles streamed out of one of the helicopters, and the P-HUDs instantly darkened as a brilliant flash blinded the guards below. There was little sound to the missiles, and as the Artemis shock troops jumped down from the helicopters the Amber Guard supplied silenced sniper fire at the immobilized guards. Quickly, the Artemis shock troops kicked down the weak door to the compound and stormed through the entrance hall, shooting anybody who refused to get on their knees. Anybody who had a weapon was shot without hesitation by a multitude of guns.

"Clean."

Three floors had been simultaneously cleaned (or cleared), but the real problem was getting to the rooms below. Lt. Surge quickly placed breach charges on a fortified door slick with the blood of three dead guards. He stepped to the side and held his breath as the charge erupted, blowing the door off. Lt. Surge rushed into the room, tackling one guard and using him as a shield while his comrades supplied fire into the room. The surprised guards had no chance. "Locate Robin!" The shock troops nodded and tapped their P-HUDs, which switched to infra-red vision. Many of the rooms here were found empty with a quick glance. Fewer and fewer guards appeared as they went deeper underground. Finally, they found a heavily fortified room - and it was hot. Two shock troops fell in a barrage of bullets before they were dragged out by Lt. Surge. Lt. Surge wiped a single finger down his P-HUD, which gave the order for the GRAPE system to come through.

GRAPE was short for 'grenade rape'. A large shock trooper placed the GRAPE system, with a reinforced shield in front, in the breached doorway. As the bullets started to cease, the shield flew up and close to two dozen grenades flew across the room, bouncing everywhere before the shield went back on. The soldiers braced themselves as the screams of the guards were quickly overwhelmed by the large explosion the grenades made. After a few moments to collect themselves from the concussive blast, the GRAPE system retreated and the rest of the shock troops entered the room. There were no identifiable human remains.

They breached the next reinforced door and found no troops of any king. It was a long, rather pedestrian hallway, but definitely soundproof. They kicked down doors but found nothing until the fourth door - a man held a pistol over Albert Tanzband, who was slumped with blood pouring from an upper chest wound. Lt. Surge quickly pulled out his knife and stabbed the man in the kidney, then placed a syringe in the man's tense neck and injected a strong sedative. The small knife wound in the kidney would be treated by the Amber Guard so that he could be tried in a court instead of killed in action.

"Robin located. Extracting. Your turn, Amber Guard, get us out of here."

"Robin located. Extracting. Your turn, Amber Guard, get us out of here."

"Roger, roger."

The StaSi Atlas choppers - the Guard was, officially, subordinate to the StaSi, after all - landed, eight men coming from the bowels of each. Where the Artemis operatives had stormed the compound so quickly that few, if any were able to resist, the Amber Guard - some, at least - moved into the opposite direction, securing the single way to the building so that none could get in or out, other than by air.

Air which was controlled by the Atlas helos as well as two Tiger attack helicopters which had just arrived.

Two of the troop transports were being prepared to get civilians and other people out, one other for the transport of Robin.

The men of the Guard who weren't busy preparing the vehicles or protecting the entrance moved into the building, amongst them four certified medics/doctors who had the equipment to do quite elaborate field surgery, if necessary. They moved the same way as the Artemis operatives, though trusting that the mercenaries had done their job well.

Within record time, they met with their friends, the medics basically taking over from there to keep both Tanzband and Mosley stable and alive.

Less than two minutes later, the helicopter which had been turned into a flying hospital took off with the two men, two Amber Guard soldiers and four medics who were working quickly but efficiently to stop the bleeding and treat the wound of the former Prussian leader.

"Thank you, Ambi." Ambi was shorthand for Amber Guard. "We're heading to Vienna. Artemis HQ has a clinic built in that can hold the two. We have a visitor for Mr. Tanzband who wishes to see him in the HQ. A hospital is too public. Can you give us a week with both men before we turn them over?"

"Thank you, Ambi." Ambi was shorthand for Amber Guard. "We're heading to Vienna. Artemis HQ has a clinic built in that can hold the two. We have a visitor for Mr. Tanzband who wishes to see him in the HQ. A hospital is too public. Can you give us a week with both men before we turn them over?"

"Acknowledged. A week should be no problem."

With this, the helicopter changed its course to Vienna, towards the Artemis HQ.

"We do hope that all Hanseatic citizens still in Valkurheim will not be displaced. There is also a detachment of Fifty Lillian Guards there to protect them. If need be, Australia can enter negotiations so that Valkurheim does keep some of its autonomy."
