Surrenders

I'm bored and theres, what seems like, several feet of snow outside so ive been browsing the surrender thread for how everyone is doing...heres what i managed to come up with in, oh about 10 minutes.

Only one nation has surrendered from the following alliances: Invicta, Carthage, FEAR, NpO, GR, FEAR. and one was still flying The Other Side but they merged so i dont know

There are two surrenders who deleted all their wars and aid so im not sure where they came from. Theres also two 'runners' as we called them in Fark(Folks who surrendered only to leave anarchy and rejoin the fight) One from NpO and one from IRON[Note: Neither of these nations are flying their old AA]

IRON, Athens and NATO all had two nations surrender, Sadly Athens had the biggest nation (60k NS) of everyone thus far who surrendered

Yee pirates of FoB have had three nations walk the plank..and everybodies favorite alliance, NSO, has had the most of anyone thus far surrender...four nations

We'll see what these numbers look like this time NEXT week(its also worth noting theres been a couple alliances who have left the war)

EDIT: Sorry NATO, your third guy *just* surrendered after i finished this lol

I always thought it was interesting how few people surrender. When you think about an alliance of 200+ people, they can't all be that convinced of their alliance's plight.

Don't many alliances threaten ZI if you leave during a war or surrender? That might explain why so many choose to take some damage in their alliance rather than being targeted post-war for annihilation... I somehow doubt the NSO threatens this, since they emphasize a nation's sovereignty and free will. This might explain why they have more surrenders.

All the same, I agree that the very small number of national surrenders in every war is very interesting.

That's a bloody good point, but one of the unique things about CN is a large player base, large alliances and only about say 2% of the players actually having any influence. The rest of us choose an alliance based on RL friends / the colour scheme / becuase they asked first and just go along with what they say. Once your in and that, leaving seems pretty bad. Plus as we all know once you lost a few hundread infra losing the rest ain't so scary.

I, too, am surprised by the high levels of morale in this war; it's actually a rather big change compared to earlier wars, where at this point in time entire alliances or even, in GW2, entire sides were surrendering.

Is it just boredom, or are our alliances that much better organised that all these members actually feel pride or obligation?

As far as I know, NPO was the only alliance that threatened ZI for leaving during times of war. I believe most others simply suggest they don't let the door hit them on their way out, and lock the door after they're gone.

This is what TOOL does, although under certain circumstances (say they get beat within an inch of ZI and surrender) they may be considered for re-application. We actually had one instance of that during Karma War, and let him back in.

I forget if CCC even had a policy considering that when I was in the alliance, we never really had a problem with desertion.

In any case, ZI is a bit extreme for desertion by itself.

I think I was actually the largest nation that surrendered. I was like 80k when I left TORN. 65k today with next to no military.

Morale had nothing to do with my decision. As far as I know, TORN still has high morale. I just personally couldn't justify suiciding against people that I don't hate.
