As the four Type-97 submarines exited the Hudson Strait and sailed into Hudson Bay, they detected their prey. A resounding shout came through the corridors of each submarine.

"All hands to battle stations, red alert!"

As the sailors aboard hurried to their positions the sonar operator aboard PRSSN Astute informed the captain about the enemy vessel that had been detected.

"Target bearing 045 at 300km, travelling at 25 knots. Estimated engagement time is three hours, forty seven minutes."

"O.K. set a course to intercept and prepare firing solutions, load tubes one to three. Don't spoil you're appetite, we're having rogues for dinner."

"Damn it!" Premier Helo Silveira roared as he slammed his fist on the table in anger. The aide, as well as everyone in the meeting room, was startled. They had never seen the Party leader look so furious.

"The nuclear attacks are out of control! If this continues at this pace, the entire world would be irradiated!"

The news of yet another nuclear attack on Hudsonia had reached the Union government, and the Premier was not too pleased to hear that.

"Both attacks occurred at extremely close proximity of the URSR! We're in danger, grave danger!" Silveira continued.

Paolo Vargas, People's Secretary for State Security spoke up: "Comrade, the CSS is doing everything it can to speed up the evacuation process. We will expand the scope of the operations from the suburbs to the cities themselves in due time."

"Due time?! When? When we become the next targets?" Silveira interjected, sneering.

Before Vargas could retort, another voice spoke up.

"What Comrade Vargas means is that the evacuation of the cities will take place immediately." Joseph Salin ratified. "On top of that, we need to expand the evacuation process to Ontario. Not only that, but we need to provide aid and supplies to nations affected by the blasts, such as Amarna and Hudsonia."

"What would be the point of that if another attack does happen in North America?" Picard Niro, deputy Premier, asked. "Wouldn't that be a waste of time, supplies, and equipment, everything that should be used to further the world revolution?"

"BUT that would further the world revolution, Comrade!" Salin insisted. "If we provide aid to these nations that need it, we improve our standing on the world community and through that, we show to the workers of the world that the URSR would be there for them."

"So, you're saying that we use our funding and aid to sway the working people in these nations to our cause? Basically provide support with some strings attached, and then try to pull on these strings to make them join the URSR?" Silveira inquired, clearly interested in such a notion.

"Correct, Comrade."

The Premier sat back and took a breath, contemplating. The room was silent for a while.

Finally, Silveira nodded. "Offer aid to Hudsonia. Check to see if Amarna had accepted our offer." He instructed the deputy People's Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Turning to Vargas, He gave instructions: "Initiate evacuation operations in Ontario. Tighten up its borders."

Vargas nodded.

[b]CLASSIFIED ACTIONS/PUBLIC VIA SATELLITES[/b]

CSS Internal Troops, which had reached the URSR's newest eastern border, received orders from the CSS Directorate (the office who headed the CSS and reported to the People's Secretariat for State Security), to close down the border and impose the Border Security Zone in place. They would duly follow orders, sealing off border crossings. The border with Hudsonia would be sealed off, and a Border Security Zone established in place, even though vehicles carrying aid and emergency supplies would be allowed through.

At the same time, the Coastal Security Zone was expanded to Ontario's southern coast (the ones bordering Lake Superior and the Georgia Bay). The coastal cities of Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie would be encompassed in the Zone, and as such the CSS would implement emergency evacuation measures immediately. A state of emergency was extended to Ontario, and the evacuation operation was expanded to the major city of Sudbury and countless other towns and villages across the vast lands of Ontario.

The URSR expresses its condolences for the nuclear attack that had impacted your nation. As such, we offer aid and supplies to your nation to help rebuild the port of Hamburg.

Chancellor Thomas was in his office, steaming from the recent nuclear attack on Hamburg. Reports continued to stream in about the death toll, people beginning to die of radiation sickness, and damage assessments. He was going through all of these reports which piled on his desk, until he found a paper that had different reading. It read:

[quote]The URSR expresses its condolences for the nuclear attack that had impacted your nation. As such, we offer aid and supplies to your nation to help rebuild the port of Hamburg.[/quote]

The URSR. The huge Socialist state that has made the leaders of Hudsonia paranoid and nervous about having them as next-door neighbors. However, Thomas realized that they could help with aid and rebuilding efforts. So, he sent a message to the leaders of the URSR:

[quote]Hudsonia accepts your offer of help. We are utterly desperate for aid from any source we can find. Due to the high radiation in the area that was formerly Hamburg, we have been considering rebuilding the city south of the current site, away from the radiation.[/quote]

Midwest Republic is willing to offer assistance in cleanup, providing humanitarian aid, and repairs to any devastated countries that request for it. We express condolences for the innocent civilians that had their lives changed forever or lost their lives from the rogues' nuclear attacks.
