Agostinho Neto
Ruins after the Battle of Caporetto. The inscruption on the wall says "We must be heroes! The Piave river or death!" CAPORETTO (Slovenia) - Italy and the German Democratic Republic have finalised an agreement which will end more than 60 years of foreign rule in the small town of Caporetto. The proposal - which will hand control of the municipality to Italy - creates an "island of reconciliation". In a ceremony at the Town Hall the document was initialled by the Italian Foreign Minister, Roberto Ciano, who is also the Provisional Head of Government and his Austrian counterpart. The German government has been asked to give its approval to the treaty after few days of negotiations to purchase the land. Under the accord, the Italian authorities have agreed Caporetto (theatre of the Battle of Caporetto) will maintain a high degree of local autonomy, as guaranteed by the Italian Constitution. Minister Ciano said the joint declaration was "the practical embodiment of the imaginative concept of one people two countries". "It constitutes a blueprint for a new stage in Italy-Austria relations. Who said we are condemned to hatred, xenophobia and isolationism?" he said. Lynneth
"We are glad that this agreeement has been reached, and hereby verify the validity of the treaty. Hopefully, it's a sign of Europe getting better again, that such things can be done in a civil way."

Deutschland appreciates your sentiments, I'm sure.
Justinian the Mighty
The FGR has some nerve criticizing the GDR for what the regime of the past did.

We're Rational Communist now, not a near-totalitarian monarchy."
