Electrical Power

*A dominion style hexlev system is to be set up as an inter city transportation system for both people and freight. These will in the short term link the cities on Zealand proper but in the long run connect all cities of the Citadel.

*Electricity, nuclear fission systems are to be taken offline and repaired, they will be maintained as back up systems.

*The existing space based solar array will be upgraded and repaired to provide electricity to the region.

*A de-centralized power grid is to be set up connecting all the islands presently belonging to the Citadel creating a simple fail safe in the event of either deliberate attacks on electrical infastructure, or tragic accidents.

Plans are presently being reviewed by the Office of Transportation and the Committee of Public works to partially integrate the new powergrid into the transportation system. (run it parallel). While this will add a degree of centralization to the originally planned decentralized power grid the plan also compensates for this by working in a series of backup grids in the event that the centralized grid fails.

Along side this, contracts are being negotiated with the Rebel army to for in the short term use the space elevator as a mechanism for moving supplies and repair crews into space. In the long run the long dormant launch loop set up by GA is to be reactivated and utilized as the primary launch mechanism for Citadel space needs. Once there the Solex array along with the GA array will be repaired and repositioned to supplement a large portion of the Citadel's electricity needs. Overall the two systems will have two hubs the solex array will transmit to a recantenna field on the southern island; while the GA array will transmit to a field in the northern one. Both transmission grids will converge at wellington and be transmitted across the citadel from there.

Morever technicians will begin work on the outdated nuclear fission plants beneath each major city. Each one will be taken off line one at a time, and repair before being put back online; while down power will be supplemented by the surrounding electrical systems. Once the rest of the grid is complete; and there is enough power to supplement what they provide they will be placed on standby as backup systems.

Finally each of the islands with volcanism present as well as the other geothermal hot spots within the EEZ will be tapped for their geothermal potential. This will form a large secondary system that will fill the gaps of the SPS system. In addition as most of the volcanism is located in the northern islands the geothermal systems fill the needs of the pacific isles should the mainland be cut off.

OOC: Thanks :P.

IC:

The first five of an extensive list of nuclear fission plants were taken offline today and technicians began surveying the systems; and making repairs. To their surprise their appeared to be little in disrepair other than the need for replacement fuel rods and updates for existing computer software. This same work will continue until each of the existing fission plants is brought up to the standards of the Citadel. Second; on the matter of the power grid. Work on the secondary systems has begun across the Citadel while work on the new primary grid is being held off to be installed along side the new transportation systems. Third, plans were submitted for modualized geothermal plans and locations have begun to be selected by a special sub-committee task force set up to investigate the geothermal resources of the Citadel. Finally the SPS crews reached Geostationary orbit today and began work repairing dysfunctional SPS satellite and programming ones too greatly damaged to move into graveyard orbit. The Solex Array was also ordered to begin repositioning to its permanent orbit above the southern island. It is expected to reach within a few weeks.

OOC: It would probably be first world. Its pretty much possible with today's technology it just hasn't been done (and you need more efficient systems to deploy and construct it in space).

IC:

Several more Fission systems were updated today; and several sites have been staked off for geothermal development. The construction of the backup grid is in its middle stages of completion, work on the central grid has begun in conjunction with the transportation projects.

OOC: if you're going to RP LVN's old stuff, he already had a satellite power grid system that went to all his islands, his cities were all 100% public transport, and the cities were giant monoliths of massive, concrete, mind numbingly boring, rectangle skycrapers

OOC :Lolz, thanks for the input sargun. :v: Also yes I am aware of what LVN previously had in place. I am only carrying over some of his stuff, and making alterations to others. Considering its been at least a decade in RP time most of the stuff has probably fallen into disrepair.

OOC: the public transport system was redesigned.

Aproximately 60% of fission systems have been upgraded or otherwise repaird. Several geothermal systems are presently in development, and the backup grid has been completed.
