Forming Texas' Government

Manetheren

Recommended Posts

Recently, dozens of groups have applied for the Governorship of Texas. It is the opinion of the Tahoan Government that Texas is stable enough to form its own govenment. Therefore, a plebescite will be held for the people of Texas to form a new government by voting for a party and their platform.

OOC: Anybody that wants to RP in Texas can do so provided you don't already have a country. If you do, you must re-roll if you win the vote. Basically the way this is going to work is that if you want Texas you must make a proposal for a government. For example, set up a Republican Party that wants to form a Republic of Texas. Then form various proposals about how you intend to RP (of course staying IC) including government type, foreign relations, internal affair, ect.

I'll decide the finalists and have a vote. And if you submit a lulz proposal or a communist dictatorship, no, its not going to get approved.

A tall man in a nice suit with a briefcase came forward. "I represent the United People of Texas. We lived in Texas under the Reich, and we believed that the government system just wasn't good enough for us. This is what we propose:

The government will be a democracy, with direct elections being held every year (by direct he means that there won't be any electoral college). The country will be secular, and the people will be represented by a legislature, making it a republic. There will be three branches, headed by a legislature, a president, and a court. The government will be multi-party, the legislature will be tricameral, the economic system will be a market economy, and in elections, candidates must have a supermajority (ranging from 55% to 75%, currently undecided) to win."

A Tall old man limps into the Room. He is accompanied by 5 other men, dressed in power suits, all carrying briefcases. The old man has the look of a warrior, with scars adorning his arms. His eyes burn bright blue as he scans the assembled room, looking for weakness in the assembled eyes.

He and his entourage Come to their assigned table. He leans up against the table, and in a strong powerful voice, begins to speak.

My name is Druss the 1st, and I am the King of the Drenai people. I wish to establish a Warrior society, where the primary focus is to build great soldiers, and to make our people the strongest, the fastest, and the smartest. We will be ruled by an Emperor who will rule our people with an iron fist. Who will keep our people focused on the final goal, which is death in battle for the Drenai People, and for the glorious nation of Dros Delnoch.

We may be a small nation at the moment, but we will grow, and we shall become powerful. We value our allies above all, and we will defend them, no matter the risk for our own lives. If one of our own is in danger, we will jump in front of the gun, and sacrifice our own life.

It is my belief that under Drenai rule, Texas will once more become a powerful nation, and we will prove to be a strong and loyal ally to the Mighty Tahoe.

The Nation of Dros Delnoch does not want to get involved in international politics at this time. We would rather build up our infrastructure, and make our nation a powerful force, so that when the time is right we can enter the International Scene and actually be counted as a force.

We do however wish to get into relations with our Fellow American Nations. We believe that is in our best interested, and the world's best interest, to see a closer more unified America. We wish to establish relations with our nearby neighbors, and to begin building frienships, that will guide our Foreign Policy for years to come.

As For Tahoe, We would expect to have an excellent relationship with our next door neighbors, especially since it is they, who will grant us the land on which we shall stand upon.

"The phrase 'Divide and Conquer' doesn't work out for us. We believe that life just gets harder without friends. We will need to become friends with the world, and especially with our neighbors. We will do our best to maintain great relations with Tahoe, since they are the ones who may give us this land. There is alot of tension in Europe, so as of yet we won't take sides. We'll have to wait until the situation develops. The Dragon Empire is, as we can see, peaceful, so we will try to keep friendly ties with them."

As a new country, it will be hard for us to do this, but we will be assertive. When we negotiate, we will offer and try not to ask for much in return."

A white haired man in his late ‘50s to early ‘60s approached the podium, a slight limp in his left leg the only indication of any injury or illness. As the man approached, his sports coat flapped open briefly revealing a revolver underneath before the wind changed directions, once again obscuring the weapon. The man began speaking once he reached the podium, “Ladies and Gentleman, my name is Lancaster York and I was born and raised in Texas,” he glanced around proudly, “I have no qualms publically admitting that I consider Texas to be the finest land around. You see, I’ve been involved in politics ever since taking a bullet for Texas which put me out of the service,” the man paused to tap the leg which took the bullet, “I’ve done and seen many things, but one thing has stood out for me during my military and political career and that’s this: Texas needs a mandatory military service, the defense of our homeland will be the number one priority in my administration. Second, affairs outside of North America should not concern Texas unless North America is threatened. If Europe or Asia wants to nuke themselves, then I say we let them, not our business to go poking our noses in other people’s business that doesn’t involve us and I expect Europe and Asia to take that same attitude towards Texas.” The man paused to take a breath and then continued his speech, “Under my administration, The Republic of Texas will once again be known for freedom, justice and a good hard work ethic; something that seems to be missing nowadays, especially with the youth. A few years in the armed forces of Texas will instill the work ethic that is responsible for innovation and growth. We have the foundation everyone; now let us build the frame.”

OOC: I understand should I get this I will need to re-roll :)

In a public statement Tim Hand delivered the following message, "all we ever wanted was for the Texan people to make their own way. We applaud the Tahoe Republic for allowing them to do so. To the Texan people, the CFNA will always be there to help you and trade with you."

From: Tim Hand, Acting Executive of the CFNA

To: Tahoe Republic

"We trust that you will not allow a militaristic regime to form in Texas. We've already been attacked by air, we'd hate to be attacked by land and sea aswell. We of course support you granting independence to the Texan state, but remember that we will only throw our full support behind a peaceful Texas."

We too have questions for the candidates:

1: Would you be interested in establishing ties, particulary tech-sharing and military, with the Republic of Biff?

B: Do you think the Republic of Biff's short-lived war with the CFNA was justified? Why or why not?

6: Do you think that Biff is stable enough to run the government without his PR agent?

1. We would, in fact, be very interested in establishing ties with the RoB. When it comes to helping neighbors, we will always be willing to put in our best effort.

B. No, sorry. It would make sense to fortify borders and lower DEFCON levels, but not to make a declaration of war.

6. Sure, why not? He'll have to find someone else to send out his messages though...

We have three questions for the prospective candidates.

1) How do you view the Netherlands at this point?

2) How do you view the Eurasian Union at this point?

3) What are your thoughts on Nordic Socialism?

1. Our view towards the Netherlands is friendly. We don't have a very complex view on it due to the fact that we are focusing on North America.

2. We view the Eurasian Union in the same way.

3.) It's not perfect, but acceptable as along as no one is gaining money or power under the expense of others.

*As I've live in texas half of my life and am currently living here now, Imma go ahead and ask some questions*

A Ranch owner has written down some questions and sent them to the proposed government figures.

What are you planning to do for Texas as a whole? What do you think needs looking at? What could be improved?

What are your policies regarding the Ranching Industry? Do you seek to Expand it, or would you be willing to fund it?

What about local governments? Do you have plans for new Mayors of the cities? What are you planning to do with the cities and some of the history in them(ex: The Alamo, other missions, Riverwalk, ect)?

Do you have any plans for the education system? What are they? How much effort(funds) are you willing to put into it?

Signed,

Lancaster chuckled a bit before answering, "Son, as long as you Europeans don't go medlin' in Texan or North American affairs, then I couldn't care less what Europe or Asia does. Netherlands? They haven't poked their nose in my affairs so that sits just fine with me. As far as I'm concerned y'all are fine. Same thing applies to the Eurasian Union, as long as they keep their hands outta my bowl of cookies then they are fine by me." Lancaster leaned forward a bit to get a better eye on the questioner, "As for Nordic Socialism, as long as the people truly want to be ruled that way, then it's none of my business to go about whoopin' and hollerin' and telling people that my government type is better than theirs."

Lancaster squinted to get a better look at the representative asking about The Republic of Biff. Shielding his eyes from the glaring Texan sun, he began to answer, "As far as I'm concerned, Texas will have ties with every North American country, whether that results in a treaty or not will be decided upon after we've gotten to know each other, and not while I'm on the campaign trail. I consider the war that your country was just in, not only idiotic, but destabilizing to the region. That being said, one foolish action doesn't mean the whole damn country is messed up, just means y'all got some room to improve. Always strive for improvement! I think behind any good government is an even better PR team. Heck, without my PR agents I wouldn't know that the fancy gray suit I've been wearing out and about was actually, what you younger generation call, "cool". That being said, could Biff be stable enough to run the government without his PR agent? I hope so, otherwise you might want to look at upping that PR guy's salary."

Edit: Just saw Zephry's question, working on that now will edit it in.

Edit 2: As promised here is the addition.

“Folks, I’ve got a set of excellent questions from a… well, I can’t really make out the person’s name, but they’re good questions that deserve an answer so I’m gonna them. Says here what am I going to do with Texas as a whole. Well, personally, I’ve got some lofty ambitions and goals for Texas including setting up new energy projects such as solar and wind power, but in order to get these goals made into reality they will have to go through the legislative process. I think military service, energy, and mass transportation are some major areas that need to be reviewed. We need to figure out what’s working, what’s not, and how are we gonna make it work if it’s not working.” Lancaster paused to take a drink of water before moving on, “Next questions involves the ranching industry, something that is near and dear to many of us here today. Most of us had great-great-grandparents who rode the dusty trail looking to earn a fortune in the cattle industry. Well, many moved away from that, but there are still a lot of folks putting in a hard days work doing the same things that our ancestors did. Way I view it is this: Good for them, they’ve found a profession that works for them. Is the government gonna throw them some money to help them out? Not unless we give money to every other business that wants some. The ranchers are the same as any other entrepreneur so I don’t see why deserve anything special thank Jim Smith the banker doesn’t get. Moving on though, we have some grand cities with a rich history to them, but the federal government’s their laws and policies will be limited to enforcing federal laws and policies. It is not for me to decided the mayors of the cities or how to preserve or expand landmarks and roadways. The beauty of Texas is that we’re democratic, so go vote for the candidate you’d like as mayor who will do what you want with your city’s landmarks. Education… something that is such a hot button issue amongst everyone, and why shouldn’t it be? Education is the key to Texas’ future. I think college should be available and affordable to everyone that has the desire to attend. I will be working closely, if elected, with the Secretary of Education to create a plan to help all Texans attend college.”

Texas is a magnificent home, and it would seem that it doesn't need improvement. However, Texas could always be a better home. We need to build up primarily on infrastructure and technology to please all the citizens of the great region.

If ranching is what someone wants to do, then let him do it. We hope to make Texas a first-world but at the same time diverse country. Therefore, we will fund Ranching to a certain extent.

We highly encourage local governments. We hope that Texas will become a federalist country. We plan to make these landmarks in these cities historic sites, as they are very valuable to our culture. As for plans for the cities, we don't have alot of plans except for expansion and improving life.

We regard education very highly and will work to improve it as much as we can. About 40% will be put into education.

EDIT: Fixed typo

"Any Texan government that seeks friendship with the Republic of Biff will be considered an enemy of the CFNA. Technically a state of war still exists between our two countries, and friendship with both states is impossible. It would be wise for any future Texan government to consider their options when choosing their circle of friends."

To: The Texan Political Parties

From: Tim Hand, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the CFNA

"We have a few issues that need to be addressed before we decide whom to support,

1) What is your opinion of the Republic of Biff, and what type of relationship will you seek with them?

2) What is your position on immigration between Texas and Mexico?

3) How close will your ties with the Tahoe Republic be?
