There are a series of circumstance which have led us to the following offer that we are about to make. *The first is the rapidly heating climate in Africa against colonization. While we are anything but colonists and actually have very deep ethnic and cultural ties to Africa the Republic of Free Somal has succeeded in painting us as a colonial entity. *The Second is the fact that our southern neighbor the republic has declared war on the Greater Nordland Reich an ally of the Alliance, and holding such a large amount of land while our troops are committed to the Balkans is not a good option. We have not yet entered the war however we are not sure the Republic cares despite its own commitment to peace. *The Third is the fact that having this territory is essentially a drain on the alliance's economy. All the people living in it require heavy upkeep costs, and all the additional management is an unnecessary burden on the Alliance. All we really desire is a point from which to project power in the region. This is part of a much larger aim to downsize the alliance's international holdings. That being said we offer you all of our territory in Africa. In exchange we would like to take control of your northern most island the Maderia Islands. This will become a port and economic center of the Alliance. Turnover will be very easy. We will leave the whole of society intact along with the local government and simply withdraw all but the top level people to the Island. You can bring in your own people and immediately run the territory as if nothing happened. Overtime you can introduce changes of policy and so forth. We will follow suit as well for the Maderia Islands as far as the infrastructure involved. Again we appreciate the generosity and fairness shown to The University by the Alliance. iamthey Posted June 17, 2009 Author Report Share Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) OOC: Well technically the NAPO doesn't have jurisdiction in the matter as the Alliance isn't a member of it, and the land was not a protectorate of NAPO/unoccupied. Its a simple land transfer between two sovereign nations. However both the canaries and the Alliance have about the same ethnic mix as they were both subject to the same migration in the early European/Arab colonization/migrations. If not we'll enact sanctions and such. Military force can be considered, but only by the individual member nations of NAPO. Not directed by NAPO. Same diff, but diff all together. This results in an accurate representation of the composition of the entire populace of my territories, and also permits instantaneous results by issues voted on by the citizenry. *IC: At this time The University politely declines any association with NAPO.
