President Daniel Jackson

0000039117_20070413120418.jpg

Daniel Jackson wasn't sure what he wanted to be when he grew up. he was told, upon taking an assessment test, that he could be just about anything he wished, and this didn't help him in his decision-making process. However, the decision was made for him when he recieved notification of being drafted into the military.

After the required stint in boot camp, he chose the marines.

Due to his profession, he travelled the world, met interesting people, and despite the popular saying, most of them he didn't kill.

One big exception to this was the Island of Sahrani campaign. The Island of Sahrani had been overrun by terrorists labelling themselves as Communists, and by the time he was deployed, most of the rightful inhabitants had been evacuated for the Middle East. Nevertheless, he was witness to several acts of brutality and war crimes that were forever seared into his memory.

For his valor during this campaign, he rose to an army rank equivalent of Major, and not long after, he retired.

For several years, he remained retired, until the newly-rising political star of Benjamin R. Wallace convinced him to be his running-mate in the Presidential election. needless to say, they won, and with a landslide victory, they were both sworn into their respective offices.

Again, however, he stayed out of the limelight, until an unfortunate accident during a hostage situation in Nedland incapacitated President Wallace beyond the ability to perform his duties. Several months later, Jackson was sworn in as President.

During the period of border closure, Jackson suffered an injury from a terrorist attack that put him in a coma. His current whereabouts are unknown.

This mysterious figure has been ruling from behind the shadows since before the nation came out of isolation. Little is known about his past, but it is often speculated that he was an intelligence agent who seized power from a corrupt intelligence director. he is the ultimate power behind the government.

He is only very rarely seen in public, and every time, he wears a black bowler hat, a black cloth tied over his face, and dark sunglasses.

quarantine-sign-(big)-736305.jpg

Lord Tahsir Re has been kept under strictest Quarantine deep inside of Re House the past few months. Few Dranaggans have ever see him up close and in person, and fewer outsiders have even been invited as close as the Family house. However the entire nation knows his voice and supports their elected lord.

Being the 17th descendant of the head of the Re Family, which is as old as the Nation, Lord Tahsir spends his days keeping the political forces on national and international level in control and orderly for the various ministries to function properly. On the few occasions he has been seen in public he is reported as being "At least 6'9'' and very gaunt." Any other description is left hidden by the perpetual robe he wears that is treated heavily with antibiotics.

Currently unmarried and not seeing anyone Lord Tahsir is childless and doomed to die as the ruler of Dranagg.

The Chairman of Dragonisia, Maelstrom Vortex, has become a near legend to his own people. He was the leader of a people's rebellion among a very large faction of Indian Ocean pirates. The cause of the rebellion was poor leadership resulting on the destruction of their way-of-life which was no longer even viable.. and their exile to the antarctic ice shelves.

The first years were miserable with the Chairman and his people having to scrap for resources on the ice shelf, relying on predominantly ice mines to find fuel in Antarctica.. ice fishing for food.. and melted ice for water. The people still refer to it as "The years of frozen hell."

Through diplomatic graces the Chairman got the world's sympathy.. and in particular the sympathies of the Promised Land of Antarctica.. which graced them with the gift of Tasmania. When they arrived there, the Chairman immediately set the people to harvesting the vast mineral reserves available on the island.

As a government policy, when the mines were done they were not closed, they were instead excavated to provide the presence of bunkers and government shelters. The Chairman knew land was their major limitation and so he sought to optimize every inch.. up and down. Time progressed, the Chairman had made a few enemies in world politics by this point, his aggression and insight were recognized as major threats by some powers. A rogue state of radicals broke away from their home nation and the wackos in power launched a nuclear device at Tasmania. The surface of the island was flattened, the government had gotten the radar signatures just in time to warn people into what shelters there were, including government bunkers.

For 6 months, living on Tasmania was even more of a hell than Antartica. The people called it, "The Years of the Burning Hell." The Chairman had come to the surface with only minimal protective gear not long after the nuclear blast had abaited. He did what he could in the time he was told he might survive to drag others who might survive from wreckage.. putting his life on the line for his people. It's not mere propaganda, there are photos and videos of these events from what recording devices were left over that belong to the survivors. The chairman narrowly avoided death, was confined to a wheelchair, and told he would not have long to live. With the help of foreign doctors, he just managed to survive.

Under his leadership, the survivors.. mostly miners who were below ground or government/military officials or evacuated citizens to the mine.. took it upon themselves to create one of the largest underground complexes the world had ever seen. Their unique situation required them to pioneer technologies most other governments would slight as impractical, such as underground hydroponics system on a mass scale and underground biospheres. Almost 90% of the nation come to live underground. It took over half a decade for the nation to really start recovery. (ooc: The NPO Blackout period.)

The chairman's condition grew worse over time. Though he were only in his 30s, he looked in his 50s. Doctors around the world were contacted searching for a solution. Dr. Gregory Karnell developed a vision that might change the Chairman forever, and flush it of the devastating radiation. However, his visions were before his time and the country's available technology. They were based on studies of technology only found abroad.

With the help of the state department, Karnell and the Chairman secured the aid of the nation of Saboria in genetically rebuilding his body based on a new genetic structure. His blood was run through a purifier and he was given chelation therapy.. additionally some bone marrow was replaced. The result was the recovery of his body to near peak health, but at the same time a massive "disfigurement" as tissues followed the new genetic programming. Part of Karnell's intent in the design had been the introduction of regenerative DNA based on a Chamelon as well as other "practical improvements" to the human body. Some view these mutations as the gross mismanagement of God's handiwork, the other as evidence of the coming mastery of man over gene.

The wife of the Chairman, Empress Koudawaia Vortex had opted for the same treatment, but the treatment process was sabotaged by a laboratory technician fearing the creation of a new updated human race as being an abomination. Koudoawaia died due to the interference. Her body has traveled with the Chairman wherever he has moved. Her casket now lies with her photo atop it enclosed in glass at the Imperial Palace in Bengaluru, India where the Chairman is often seen sitting.. seemingly consulting with her memory.. during times of personal or national crisis. He has vowed never to remarry.

Not long after this the Chairman formed the Dragon Empire which united much of the Pacific and Asia. It was created to maintain a balance against existing superstates. During this time radical improvements were seen throughout the Empire as the combined national treasures resulted in an explosion of growth and one of the largest GDP's ever obtained. The Empire however, would not last long, as the other Empires fell apart or were destroyed as in the case of the UFE by external pressures.. the purpose of its existence waned.. its membership got their own visions for their states independent of the Imperial view. The Chairman's answer to these free thinkers.. was liberation. Each state was set free according to its historic lands and given back its sovereignty.

As the Empire fell apart, India failed to form a government. Tasmania adopted India.. and so.. inadvertently.. Asia fell into the Chairman's lap. He began to administer Asia from Tasmania, but it proved after a time far to difficult given the bulk of the population and its issues were so far away. The Chairman thus migrated the capitol to its current settlement in Bengal, India, where he currently resides. The Chairman never has taken credit for all these changes, he blames the growth on the Meritocratic state of the Dragonisian Government which has given him one of the best team of experts in the world to administer the actions of the state.

While he was in India, the Chairman was made keenly aware of the domestic population's goal to be re-united with their brethren. They were exceptionally upset at the government of Indochina to the north which had failed in protecting the region from nuclear terrorism and which was even alleged to have been co-operating with the terrorists. Not one to leave unanswered threats to the state, the action of the chairman was swift.. an invasion was planned, and the Indian subcontinent was reunited. Tibet was subsequently liberated from Dragonisia and became its own government. It stands independent to this day. The Indians see him as the great liberator. The world sees him a bit differently.

As time progressed great empires began to rise again. The Chairman saw this, and as a reaction as was his typical nature in diplomacy, he founded tight regional alliances that eventually sprung into the New Dragon Empire. He had perceived flaws in the last empire however, and to keep the states actively engaged in discourse and participating in the work of the Empire, he chose to offer to structure it as a Triumvirate with a Legislature, instead of a dictatorship. This has served to form one of the most cohesive unions to date. The Chairman continues to live in Bengaluru where he is admired by his people for all the achievements of the state.. from ice wastes to regional power.. such was the story of the Tasmanian Dragonisian People such was the story of their legendary leader.
