Recommended Posts

A Naval Task Force, under the command of Admiral Charles White the 3rd, is sent to the South Atlantic in accordance to the agreement recently drafted by Greece, Malta, and Northlands.

Task Force Beer Belly consists of  4 Seleong Class Destroyers, 6 Incheon Class Frigates and supply vessels with sustenance enough to keep the Task Force at sea for thirty days without replenishment. Further, a single supply ship with special modifications to replenish Gotland Class Submarines and four Gotlands are dispatched as well. The destination of the task force is the Northlandic base Tristan De Cuhna (spelling?) where they cooperate with local Northlandic authorities and assist with local security operations under Northlandic command. The Task Force will be kept on station for six months before being rotated out with fresh crews and vessels.

Tristan da Cunha was perhaps the most remote of the naval bases operated by the Northlands. Long held by the Northlands, the base had undergone several modernization projects while the island itself remained sparsely populated. The Maltese ships would be hailed and dock space would be allocated, with some also held for incoming Greek ships. The Northlands would redeploy several ships from the Atlantic Fleet to serve alongside Malta and Greece in the most southern region of the Atlantic. Additionally, a military cargo ship would make its way to the island to assist with some dredging efforts and expansion of the artificial wave barrier in the harbor to help accommodate the large influx of visitors.

Additionally, Northlands defense officials would contact their counterparts and put forth the proposal to secure South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands in addition to the Prince Edward Islands off the coast of Africa for use by the ESP. Plans for the construction of modern naval installation and defenses on both would be presented, with a breakdown of projected costs included. The Northlands would be course willing to pay its share of the necessary expenses for construction and maintenance.

A memo to the Northlands and Malta:

Greece has dispatched a destroyer group of equal size to the fleet deployed by Malta. Destroyer Group Archimedes will arrive in Tristan da Cunha and begin coordination with allied forces. Additional fleet groups are on standby for operations in securing bases of operation in the suggested regions; a contingent of the Greek military engineers is available for any location agreed upon for a Pact base.

After communication with Malta and Greece, Task Force Halcyon has been established and is composed of 1 destroyer, 2 frigates, 10 corvettes, 3 submarines, 2 supply vessels, and 3 cargo vessels. TF Halcyon has been dispatched from Tristan da Cunha to South Georgia Island to begin construction of a military installation and patrol local ocean waters.

RNV Eindhoven docked at Pier A of Naval Station, Grytviken.

The base would be constructed in Ocean Harbor by the previous whaling settlement of Grytviken. The project includes the construction of Piers A and B for the docking of military vessels from ESP nations, two runways with traffic control tower, living and storage facilities, and radar installations. Additionally, the cargo vessels would also carry anti-air missile defenses to encircle the facility.

Additionally, a convoy of supply and cargo ships would make its way to the Prince Edward Islands. One hundred royal engineers have been dispatched to these islands, complementing the two hundred overseeing and assisting in the construction of Naval Station, Grytviken. A further one hundred engineers and numerous Office for Protectorate Affairs officials have been sent to South Africa to assist in duties in the area. Two thousand marines would be sent to South Georgia and one thousand to the Prince Edward Islands.

The Spartan Marines assigned to support the Northlandic operations do not fully land. A company each are put ashore on each island to assist with heavy work and local security. They are quickly replaced by a composite company for each island consisting of logistical, medical, infantry, and intelligence soldiers. In short, the small units are the advanced eyes and ears on the Islands and are placed under the direct command of the Northlandic commanding officer.

Once the Maltese contributions have been landed, the Marines are rerouted to South Africa and sent ashore. The additional fleet units are mostly returned to Malta with a few ships to reinforce the South Atlantic Task Force and a few ships to support the South African operations.

Classified to NORTHLAND and GREECE

"The North American Trade Center has been established near Astoria, Cascadia. It is open to Greek and Northlandic shipping. We have promised to support the Cascadians in keeping the flow of trade open in the event they experience difficulties in moving commerce due to whatever reasons crop up. Should this be due to a foreign government that is hostile to our sacred and holy privilege to exchange goods with our fellow mankind, we ask our partners to support us in extending our reciprocity policy in such a manner that it assists the Cascadians.

Further, nearly all of Malta's forces have been pulled out of South Africa and replaced with locally raised levies. The Royal South African Province has been placed under the care of a locally appointed Governor, a South African Law Professor of some note, and given funds to organize a South African Bureau to conduct governmental business on behalf of the locals until a time comes they are ready for independent rule."

Naval Station, Grytviken would continue to undergo construction. Several more large cargo ships would sail for the island with the next load of construction materials and defensive ordinance. In addition to the naval and air station, the Northlands would begin the construction of several OTH radar systems on the island chain to survey the South Atlantic. These would be augmented by several mobile AESA radar stations designed to detect incoming threats and relay them to the island's defenses.

A similar process would occur in the Prince Edward Islands in the east, providing the ESP with two defensible ports and eyes in the region. While the main priority of the islands would be to ensure the safety of global trade in the area, the Northlands would deploy several coast guard cutters to assist with search and rescue operations in the South Atlantic, should they be necessary.
