[left]Exercise African Vision has completed the last of Aeon deployments to AUP designated 'simulated combat' zones. The pan-African wargames and live fire drills would be conducted by the forces of the Nascent Military Command (NMC - Terrestrial Forces), Militant Naval Command (MNC - Naval and Amphibious Forces), Air Militant Command (AMC - Airforce) and Strategic Command Agency (SCA - Strategic and Theatre Offense and Defense Forces), along with allied powers from across the continent. Taking place across vast expanses of African territory and waters on all parts of the continent, exercises would include amphibious assaults backed by naval and airforce fire support, anti-ship assault drills off the coast of Somalia, anti-ship ballistic missile interception in the Atlantic Ocean as well as conventional ballistic missile interception in Sudan.

Live fire air interdiction and SEAD attacks would commence in Tanzania using former Imperium and Nodic reserve equipment. Anti-submarine operations, including the deployment of an active anti-submarine curtain would be practiced off the coast of Ascension Island. The blockade and subsequent storming of foreign expeditionary force bases via close proximity to the African coastline would be simulated by using Sao Tome and Principe - Principe would act as a foreign aggressor base staging an enemy Expeditionary Force consisting of aircraft, ballistic and anti-ship missiles, surface to air batteries and operational naval vessels. Sao Tome would act as African territory held in close proximity to the target, where the eventual storming of Principe would emerge from.

The acting Liaison Minister Corrine Teguse would emphasize the peaceful, defense oriented nature of the Exercise, stressing that it was not directed towards anyone in particular. In a brief statement released by Avatar-of-War Marxon, "The OPFOR, also referred to as Red Team would simulate a self-important and ultimately arrogant Global power with a penchant for relying on numbers and fabricated casus bellis in order to cling desperately to the ambiguous legal and moral high ground. OPFOR will be using state of the art air, naval, tank and missile systems, with a number of said systems being provided for live fire by the Principality's newly acquired hypersonic target drone forces. We will primarily be focusing on simulating the African response to a highly co-ordinated, and normally overwhelming attack on African soil and interests."

The Tanzania Federation Armed Forces although engaged on an internal conflict would be committed to Exercise African Vision. All ground and air units stationed in Tanzania would effectively be either take part in or support the exercise. The Tanzania Peoples Navy would commit half of its surface vessels and a quarter of its submarines to the exercise along with one of its Aircraft Carriers. Conventional Cruise Missiles and Ballistic Missiles of the Tanzania Federation Missile Forces would also be used.

Atlantis would also take part in the exercise. Atlantis will be using Divisions 3 and 4, Neptune hypersonic missiles, and the northern fleet of the Atlantis Navy. These battle groups are getting ready for combat. It is now time to show the world the prowess of the Armed Forces of Atlantis.

The KwaZulu Defence Ministry has been ordered to observe the exercises while it still labors to completely form the KwaZulu Defence Force into a coherent formation. The Foreign auxiliaries retained through Port of Sudan, aka Legion Limited, have been ordered to report their current strengths and to prepare to fully integrate into the African Union Military Command.

OPFOR OPENING MOVES

Operation You're the One I Want

A simulated attack on hardened Sudanese positions, OPFOR designated ICBM silos and bombers located in a designated staging zone, Ethiopia would launch many volleys over a protracted period of time. The rockets fired by the OPFOR would fly to a designated altitude before releasing DU-2 and DUE-2 drone craft, leaving them to their own power. Similarly, the bombers would release expendable launch units of their own, which would deploy DU-43 and DUE-43 drones.

The drones themselves would be the target for the AUP blue force strategic and theatre air defense forces. To blue force radars and Airborne Early Warning Control and Response (AEWCR) aircraft, this deluge would appear as a mix of highly unco-operative targets flying anywhere from mach 2 to mach 8 at nearly all altitudes, as well as several objects approaching at linear or parabolic trajectories at high speeds in excess of mach 11. It would be an extended campaign of high performance terror sorties, a hypersonic bomber attack launching high hypersonic missiles at AUP land targets. To further compound the power of the attacks, a number of DUE-43 'bombers' would play as OPFOR electronic warfare, or 'jammer' aircraft. A small number of overflights in Sudan would be DUE-2 jammer drones, simulating a brute force, low probability of intercept jamming strike by hypersonic targets.

Of course, such drones would be too expensive to fire upon by live weapons. All drone craft participating would tow targets for NORthern COMmand (NORCOM) Blue Forces to engage. Once 'hit' or once fuel was expended, each drone would glide back towards the staging zone of Ethiopia, emitting a friendly signature in order to be ignored by allied forces participating in the drills. Once an appropriate speed and location was reached, they would be recovered via parachute landing.

Operation Greased Lightnin'

A play on Operation You're the One I Want, Operation Greased Lightnin' would be an attack from western Ethiopia against the same heavily entrenched Blue Force NORCOM forces. NORCOM forces would be privy to a substantial UAV reconnaissance cover along this approach along with AEWCR aircraft, which would help pick up Greased Lightnin' as it occurred. Without advanced knowledge of OPFOR's inbound attack vectors, Greased Lightnin' was all about preparing AUP forces for the unexpected - even while under heavy tax from an attack already in progress.

Due to the nature of this attack, Greased Lightnin' would take place a few paces away from You're the One I Want, to avoid friendly fire from Lock-On After Launch (LOAL) weapons possibly fired against the aforementioned hypersonic drones. OPFOR pilots would be Aeon Aircraft flying at low and slower speeds than normal, in an attempt to perform sneak attacks and subsequent Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) against Blue Force SAMs activated to defend. Hit or kill transponders would be used here, no actual live fire missiles would be allowed.

OPFOR forces could consist of several squadrons of strike aircraft, which would simulate attacks on command posts and other Blue force targets. Behind them would be several A-1 Krieg Fast Close Air Support Craft (OOC: Think YF-12 Blackbird-esque aircraft that are capable of launching ground attack/anti-ship missiles). These aircraft would be armed with 'anti-radiation marker drones' which would home in on Blue Force radars, simulating Anti-radiation missiles.

The plan of attack would be text book - while Blue Force defenses were pre-occupied with Operation You're the One I Want, OPFOR strike fighters would fly in and attack. Once Blue Force NORCOM defenses activated, the A-1 Kriegs would fire anti-radiation 'missiles'.

Operation Blue Moon

Consisting of an AUP effort at [s]creating as much space debris as possible[/s] testing its mettle against enemy space assets, the Lunar Republic would provide several purposed space derelicts with which African ASAT capability would be tested. Blue Moon would consist of a concerted effort to search for, detect, track and engage enemy satellites, operating under the artificial limits that one African Space Agency was not allowed to communicate with another in order to help track and predict a potential target.

Friendly fire against foreign satellites was to be as minimal as possible. While the long standing ban on unallied satellites passing over Aeon territory was still in place, special permission would be given to Lunar forces for the derelicts. Nevertheless, should a misfortuned mistake happen with a foreign satellite and Blue Moon operations, safe guards would be present to prevent unwanted kills. Each AUP launched ASAT missile would be specially modified, and slaved to space borne Lunar infrastructure. Should the Lunar Republic detect that an ASAT weapon was misfired at any time, it would be able to immediately deactivate the offending weapon. The Republic would also be given free reign to the debris created by Blue Moon. They could harvest it at their leisure to maintain the cleanliness of space.

Operation Tears on My Pillow

In the Indian Ocean off the coast of Somalia, OPFOR ships would launch a concerted attack against AUP territories. Blue force would be tasked with simultaneously defending against an enemy naval bombardment, air strike, and amphibious assault campaign. Tears on My Pillow would arguably be the largest AUP exercise, with Blue Force ground, sea, air and missile forces participating against the massive OPFOR attack. This attack would involve all actors within the AUP, across the spans of several campaigns.

Operation Rock n' Roll Party Queen

This drill would be a sobering one indeed - an overwhelming and utterly unstoppable siege of the Aeon/Lunar Republic Ascension military complex. AUP Blue forces would be tasked with fighting a losing battle against overwhelming OPFOR attacks to claim the island. Over a long and protracted simulated battle involving missile, naval, air and submarine engagements, Blue force would drill with a steadily diminishing supply of strategic and tactical resources. It would be the hopes that African forces would fight to their simulated deaths, with a prefabricated urban complex built on the depopulated island to simulate the final close quarters combat involved with OPFOR's taking of Ascensions subterranean complexes.
