  1. Congratz on your Birthday. Lasting this long with the enemies you have is quite an achievement.

That said, what personal infantry weapon would you suggest I have my Army Procurement Department obtain for my soldiers?

    #1) Thank You.

#2) Sig 552, FN-FAL, M-4/M-16 are all good choices, depends how much ammo you need to carry, combat setting/distances, opponent weapons and abilities. Proper training can make most rifles "The Right One". Sidearm: Beretta M-9 9mm simply due to magazine capacity. Otherwise a .45ACP such as a 1911. Another good choice is the 5.7 with Armor Piercing rounds. Handguns are carried to fight your way back to your rifle. Unfortunately, these haven't shown up as options yet for my soldiers. :(

  2. That's good to know.

So constantly saying 'The NPO are evil backstabbers' wherever possible just to get into arguments that end up being you going round in circles forever isn't taking it too seriously? Though I haven't seen you doing such as much as some other members of your Alliance.

I have never said that. I may not approve of the way they handled things, nobody in the high ups that I know has gotten back to me, so I have reserved judgement. I have only posted a couple times stating FAN was doing it's best to comply and continue forward as a neutral/defensive alliance, rather than a "rabid dog" alliance.

I'm not told what to post, I sometimes see the forums and feel I need to reply to clarify things.

Like I said, just a hobby. Won't stick around here longer, have things to do today, going to the range is fun in the snowtime, you can tell exactly how far you missed.

  3. Actually, wait, what was CN earlier, a way of life?

Look at my post count here and on the old forums and guess.

Only a hobby, sometimes amusing. Others take it seriously to the bitter end tho. They aren't in FAN.

  4. BossCat is correct.

The day of, and days after the attack, ALL KNOWN FAN Nations were told to DO NOTHING with their nations, NOT EVEN FIGHT BACK! Until .gov contacted NPO for details, this took several days.

I don't think you have any idea what it is like to tell over 300 unarmed people being attacked to sit there and take it while the "high ups" sort it out. These are the same people that carry a .45 when going to McDonalds just in case, to stop some psycho that comes in and wants to make the headlines doing a mass murder.

God knows we tried to find a solution to this, but at the time of the blindside attack, NPO shut down our access to their diplomats, and wouldn't respond, yet we tried for days, holding everybody where they were to get EXACT counts of who had what (we do not have any automated scanning like NPOCalc, and when being "protected and peaceful", people don't check in as often). We waited until everybody checked in and then a few days before .gov gave a greenlight for people to build up, once stats were gathered. However, NPOCalc is "approved" by admin, small loophole there, good idea to add a "manual interface" to an automated program...

ALL "proof" of communication between FAN and NPO was also locked out at the same time, so FAN is unable to provide proof from the NPO/FAN Diplo area where we asked for help about tech raiders/etc. A wise move by NPO on that part, it helps their evidence.

To Reiterate: We were blindsided 8 days before terms were over, even though we maintained contact with NPO for violations (ghosts/attacks), which were "attended to" by NPO sending the attacker a PM, nothing else (other than a 'rogue' who nuked our top 3 nations a couple days before the full wave). We could only guess at ghosts, as people flying the FAN AA changed daily, and right before "The 2nd Attack", the number went up about 10 with all of them being MAJOR violators. Not saying there is a conspiracy there, but those aren't flying the FAN AA anymore all of a sudden. I don't have "The List", those things don't even matter, since NPO states they need no reason for war, so any "proof" doesn't matter, what they say is what goes, otherwise their minions will be hurt, we have seen it done to CIS, VE, GOONS, \m/, and asked (during the decom period) to attack NoV (again), I think that track record speaks for itself. Signing ANY treaty with NPO gives them a reason to use you, abuse you, help you, and/or all of the above, depending on circumstances of THEIR ALLIANCE, NOT YOURS.

This is TRUE Francos Style, copied down to the shielding, game/forum influence, justification, treaties that are only worthwhile when they improve NPO/NpO (don't kid yourselves, they are the same people, just two color spheres).

FAN was stupid enough to TRUST our treaty. As I stated before, FAN had ZERO INTENTION of ANY OFFENSIVE when peace terms were up. We learned from what went wrong, most of those who were "outspoken" on the forums quit FAN and joined GS/ML/GOONS/NPO when SHTF, what is left is the true core, who seek to be "Neutral but Defensive".

Everybody has their minds made up on who was "right" or who was "wrong", or how the treaty was supposed to be interpreted/acted on.

The only problem is the "Franco Factor" - Dominate forums/flood out dissent, influence game/forum staff in every way possible (No, not screaming "MOD BIAS!!!111one11oneone!!11), but it has been evidenced in the past with the dump of mods. (See old forum, static icons, etc...)

FAN wants to continue in peace, only attacking BACK, not going after everybody. Those who were aggressive have gone or tamed. The aggessives are in NPO or allies thereof now, helping with the "The Bandwagon Flood", which does get old.

No, FAN DOES NOT START THESE TOPICS! We are told about them, and some of us feel the need to respond in an official capacity.

This is a Flashback to the people !@#$%*ing about Francos abusing rights 5 years ago in another game. Just different names.

  5. NPO is three times the size of FAN and maintains an effective ghost-hunting force that has dealt with over 1,000 cases since its inception. GATO, a larger alliance than FAN and notoriously more disorganised, managed to stick to similar surrender terms to FAN's. If FAN wanted to, FAN could have.

How does an alliance chase somebody away when they have no military?

Asking on the NPO forums for help proved generally fruitless, time after time, and the gov't of FAN controlled the members, reminding them to stay at minimums, and the offenders (rogues, raiders, etc) were reported to the NPO. It would be 3 days, if at all for NPO to respond to a post stating war was declared on a FAN Nation.

I doubt reporting more ghosts would have helped, since many came and vanished in a blink of a few resets (cue conspiracy theory now)

HONESTLY, FAN INTENDED NO AGGRESSION on the 23rd, or whenever the terms expired. The alliance was simply gaining infra through sledding. Those that had tanks or any other violations were NOT given aid from within FAN.

Generally the point of a military decom in a peace agreement is to make sure that the other party is not a threat. The evidence for war given to FAN by the NPO is mostly people with over 20% soldiers. YES, there are a couple 'bad apples' here and there, but we do not have any software/database to track those, which NPO does. FAN tried VERY HARD to abide by both the SPIRIT AND LETTER of the agreement.

What would CN be like in 1 week if FAN wasn't attacked? It would be the same, but with one alliance larger, but still small in the 'big picture'.

The comment a few pages back of "FAN Needs to be buried so they will never rise again" (paraphrased from memory) strikes odd with me.

If FAN in any way INTENDED to "Break the terms", FAN WOULD HAVE BROKE THE TERMS, with 90% or more nations having full military and in DEFCON 1. Partial measures aren't our style.

    Think about it.

  6. mpol, cmon man give it a rest. You are not going to be breaking the relationship we share with our friends. Each of those alliances jumped into this war because they wanted to and supported the war.

    That's a good one! :awesome:

"Hey, lets attack this group of 300 people that are basically entirely unarmed, who's in??"

I'm sure you are still telling your "allies" to save slots for NPO.

In fact, this is the FIRST war I've seen NPO come in as the first wave, instead of their "allies". I've been on both sides, SOP is NPO "decides", orders allies (per MADP) to attack, sits back and funds, then sits back and writes the treaty, not taking input from those who actually fought. This time, since nobody was armed to fight back, because FAN WAS abiding by the treaty, NPO went in first! Imagine that, those brave souls!

Remember, FAN got it's "reputation", AFTER fighting in TWO major conflicts and a minor conflict or two, under orders from NPO, are now labeled "warmongers". NPO played FAN, when FAN got to big, they decided they didn't want FAN around...

This war is because the "Big Bad Righteous NPO" is afraid of an unarmed alliance half their number, to the point they had allies "help".

    End of Story.

  7. TheProf, I don't think the burden was on NPO to reach out to FAN, report their noncompliant nations and request what actions would be taken; rather, the burden would be on FAN to go to the NPO, regularly report ghosts and noncompliant nations and tell them what you would do about it (expulsion, attack, etc.)

I could be wrong, but it doesn't look like you were doing that.

It's not their job to do your job for you. You're the guys who pride yourselves on "maturity," you should see that.

When you have 300 nations, all mostly idle, and no automated software to run through your alliance, auditing takes over a week with volunteers available.

NOBODY received internal FAN Aid if they were seen to be in violation of Peace Terms by the sender of the aid.

EVERYBODY was pressed and reminded that FAN will try diplomacy first, from September on, to prevent another drawn out war.

We have/had no way of "forcing" people out of flying our AA and violating the terms, some were only there a short while.

In "The Beginning", NPO attacked those who didn't delete their factories or had tanks (as recently as a month ago). We corrected or expelled the members through diplomatic means.

We WERE Told of Violations as recently as 3 weeks ago, but they were few and far between, and NEVER mentioned being over xx% in soldiers. Still, we reminded everybody to stay at low soldier count, so as not to "be a threat". 20-25% is the area most ended up in, due to sledding and an infra jump soon.

NPO saw the sledding and our internal aid, realized there was cash and tech to be had, and declared. The rest of NPO's pals also jumped in, wanting the exact same cash, or some odd revenge, even though We held NO anger towards any alliance. No attack plans, Nothing. We REALIZED where we screwed the pooch to get into VietFAN, and those who have remained FAN also realize it, and we were not going to repeat certain "unsavory actions". However, we were never given the chance to prove our point.

Think about it. This is FAN. If we were going to violate the treaty, there would be WELL OVER 1/3 with nukes and cruise missles and 80% troops, not a list of 20 with just too many troops, and some posers we didn't have the force to remove.
