They come from the age when allies defended each other. And quit honestly I think they'd enjoy being attacked by those allies, considering they're even calling themselves bait.
The last time we were involved in a war: there were no navies, a large nation was 30k NS, FAN was the only alliance with warchests, and when a DoW was posted, treaty partners counterattacked usually within an hour or two.

Apparently, things have changed a bit more than we thought.

To Ivan/NSO: I echo Bad Ju Ju's statement above. The current treaties are so intertwined that this war seemed impossible without many treaties ignored, ending up with a bit of confusion as to who is who's best friends, who are good friends, and who is not a friend.

Apparently, FAN dumped the treaty thing at the right time, seeing the value they now hold. :(

  2. I kind of like IAA's flag, but outside the Imperial symbol in the center reflecting their theme as a Star Wars alliance, I couldn't explain a lick of it. TOP's flag should probably be orange and white rather than orange and black, given their historically reserved nature, but hey, that's a minor detail. It certainly seems to be working for 'em so far.

Are any of these the best flag in the game? It's arguable and a question of opinion, thus this long series of polls. Are they all terrible, as you say and repeat? No, especially not in comparison to the rest of CN in flags as judged by your own demands and especially not by the standards demanded by CN. I personally think they're all fairly good and was hard pressed to select one from the first four (FOK, VE, FAN, NpO). In the end, green is my favorite color, so I voted VE.

I agree on all points. I ended up voting FAN, for obvious reasons, though. There aren't as many of us as there are of some others. :)

  3. No offense but !@#$%^&*.

Second time you remove TOP flag for no reason. First omitting it in original poll even though it was properly seconded, than promising to put it here only to remove it in a second is bloody annoying.

In addition, TOP's flag is something that can be seen up on a flagpole.

OOC: For those who asked, they cost about $100, but that is the price for a 3'x5' custom flag made out of excellent material. Going to a smaller size and a lighter cloth does get under $50 for 2-3 color designs. This is from a popular flag store around, most are about the same price.

  4. Make a third poll.

Class A: True Flags that can be sewn from various colors of cloth, without digital printing on the fabric.

Class B: Flags that can only be made with a digital printer on fabric, so photoshop effects are allowed.

There are some awesome images for choices, but when thinking "flag", as in real cloth ones (which FAN is getting soon), I find it hard to see the Gramlins' waving in the wind, though it does rock. Ragnarock's is altered to look like cloth, so it would be in Class "A", or whatever you want to call it to seperate out "Awesome Art" and "Awesome Flag". LUE's War Flag could be made with colored cloth sewn together, given enough time, so it would be in the "Heraldry Correct" Class as well.

  5. On the topic...since my Graphics card is broken...and I can't play Civ 4, Dawn Of War, Any Total War Games, AoE 3, etc...I'm left with presenting only a few choices my good sirs.

Empire Earth...and Empires Dawn Of The Modern World.

Back before my CN days...I played strictly RTS games, so if I could actually get into one...I'll Own you. Thus how my name was born, and why I remain it today.

You can get an 8800GT for cheap now, and they are great for games like Call of Duty, not so much with Crysis and higher.

I like the quake engine based FPS since they run on Linux, but I have a XP Box set up for Call of Duty 4/WaW.

Post details of where/when. Dedicated server available.

  6. Honestly, not once - ever - did he give me bad advice. And I say this now because I'm safely in a different AA so I don't have to deal with the insufferably smug consequences of this public acknowledgment. So good luck with him now. :P

What was this thread about? Oh, yeah:

    391241.jpg

    Damn.

    That's.... just..... Cold.

Before seeing that, I was unable to bring myself to shoot a Douglas Adams book.

Now, it's going to the range with me.

  7. Congrats FAN, do you think you will regain sanction?

I hope not! I've come to believe that is a punishment by admin.

We have our Flag -Custom 46, for those who wish hoist it for 24hrs to celebrate with us. - that was the only good thing from being on that damn drop down menu!

  8. It's basically what they live for but everyone is so focused on NPO getting torn down they forget how these alliances acted...... WUT was twice as violent as 1V......

The keyword here is "was". Many here have learned from mistakes, some after repeating the same ones, some have yet to learn.

Like wildlife, we are as wary as you are, but won't start !@#$ if you don't mess with us.

Since actions speak volumes, I won't write a treatise on that. Once the victory high has worn off (might be a while, that was some good !@#$), and the reality hangover sets in for a while, please do not assume our intentions.

If you have ANY question where you stand with FAN. Please ask FAN, rather than a third party. We do not e-lawyer or mince words.

  9. Every time I've tried to switch out of peacemode, all my long haired hippy citizens bumrush me with "No Blood for Oil" signs. I think the switch has rusted shut or something.

Those ungratefuls were recently issued home defense weapons, which caused the stir.

  10. How about this one?

    CN History:

    Alliances formed.

    Alliances fought.

    Alliances went lol.

    Alliances disbanded.

    Alliances treatied.

    Blocs formed.

    Blocs fought.

    Blocs went lol.

    Blocs disbanded.

    Blocs treatied.

    Things Happened.

    Really Important Things Happened.

    Really Unexpected Things Happened.

    Boring Things Happened.

    Insignificant Things Happened.

    Stuff.

I'd say it's pretty good and concise. :v:

Yes, that would be the Cliff's Notes version, without bias. I was incorrect in my statement above and must amend it.

"Shorter Cliff's Notes versions of history that you may find will contain either an agenda, or zero useful information." :D

  11. This theory is true after the FAN war. The chart leads me to believe you changed your growth strategy after the FAN war to a more infra orientated one (which makes sense since NPO lost infra). GPA's curve before the war was as steep as the NPO's was. After the war GPA's curve was steeper.

I've determined that all the squiggily upward sloping lines turn into vertical lines whenever they get near that jaggy red one.

    How does politics do that?
