1. I must say, that those terms he sent you in PM are not.. acceptable. His spokesman stated he would white peace out of all the wars, from all in his alliance. You've said that would be acceptable ****. I'm aware there are strings attached to ending the wars now, but if Animals Guerilla Family white peaces out of all wars, both offensive and defensive, that would show a gesture of good faith that they desire a resolution to this. Once that temporary white peace treaty is settled. Draw the battle lines as you wish, make them clear to any who wish to aid them. If they want to continue being a rogue alliance without structure, I 'd' say ZI them, but looks like that's already been done, so now they can only kick shins anyway. Have them state on record (That is, these forums) that they will merge to an alliance which they will obey, and let bygones be bygones. Along with an apology from them, and a promise not to obsess over gossip on the forums, and not to post for a while until they get their affairs in order to be a worthy opponent if it comes to that again. I am on neither side in this. I'm attempting to mediate, and am just tossing this idea out there. Would that be acceptable? If they agreed, then attacked after the white peace pre-apology period, then go ahead and attack them, but it seems they cannot join a structured alliance without A) Peacing out of all wars, offensive and defensive and B) Apologizing and having a thicker skin if they plan on visiting the forum. lastly C) Stop being a proud rogue alliance, they have not been tolerated here since 2007 or earlier. Post a timetable, send him this message, map a way forward for peace and love and harmony and all that hippie stuff.
2. Ok, so you want an official apology from Sir Kindle, stating he gives up his wars, and he will avoid the forums for a period of time, and he's offering white peace, or fighting against the apology? I don't understand how the terms changed between the last post of yours I replied to and now, or is there more than one group that wants a bit of blood from him? Until you all agree on the terms, posted clearly, even in a new thread maybe since this one has changing terms, it makes decisions he may make rather difficult. That's just my opinion on this mess, I thought we've all been around long enough to know that things need to be made crystal clear, and when the world is against you, you can fight, or wait. FAN has patience, and doesn't waiver, see VietFAN if you're new here. This shouldn't be as big of an issue as people acting on emotions are making it.
3. So both sides are offering white peace to each other, if they just stop harassing each other both verbally and in game? Why is this such an ongoing issue then. Clearly there is something I'm missing.
4. If there are reasonable expectations set out for peace, that is OK. FAN does not approve of people on a PZI or quit game type of war. Do I have this right, Terms are for them to stop making war and talking crap, and you'll grant white peace? If those are the terms, I believe we have no horse in this battle. However, I'd suggest they take the white peace and perhaps re-evaluate how they run their nations. After that point, yes, they should be free to merge into an alliance with a coherent rule structure to avoid future issues.
5. Greetings all, long time, no speak. I don't recognize many names on here, but can somebody give me the Cliff's Note's version of what's going on? Who is at war with Sir Kindle, and what alliance does he represent, what were his transgressions? Same question applies to Methrage aka Noctis Lucis Caelum. What are the desired sanctions and reasons for those sanctions, and what are the stated terms for peace? Is this a simple ZI lesson, or is there something I'm missing, forgive me, I've been hiding under a rock for 7 years or more. Þ┌▲š§
6. How do I do that? Yeah, I've been under a rock, I have PTSD from VietFAN.
7. I don't even know if my account still works, seems this place has changed a bit since the last time I visited.
8. That was back when wars were fun, before some of the changes. Has anybodody beat our record for # days at war?
9.
I remember when FAN announcements were cool. You know, back in the good old days that totally happened. mpol has sorta gone the way of the black metal singer gone bumbling reality TV star.
We've only let him out of the straightjacket and muzzle when he needs to make an announcement, so his inner self sorta gets confused on what an outer self is. Next time we'll try to at least let the chafing subside before forcing a speech out of him.
10. It's only been what, 4 years? Cheers! Obligatory o/ Fark o/ FAN or whatnot.
11.
Wikipedia says that's a $9,000 beast. pics or gtfo
They aren't as rare as the pricetag would lead you to believe. An M-16 goes for $18-$20k, essentially, the fully automatic AR. Miniguns are between quarter and half a million, and there are a dozen or so seen at shoots. Newer miniguns are more common by people that are SOT (Class 3/Full Auto Manufacturers), but even then, a new minigun is roughly $75,000. Plus, they eat that much in ammo costs every year. LOTS of fun to shoot though!
12.
The aid cap is the only thing that is restricting the nations in this game from growing even larger then they already are. Many people have already stated the sheer fact of knowing that it will take you 3+ years to reach the top 5% of nations discourages most people from playing this game. Imagine if nations could send 10mil/200 tech per aid period. You think there are big nations now? Just wait about 5 months down the road from then! (6 aid slots)*(3 times a month)*(5 months) = .900bil/18,000 tech in 5 months!!!! Yikes. Increasing the aid cap would destroy CN in the sense that large nations would get bigger, and small nations would not really gain that much. Admin will never do it.
Not if Aid could only be sent to those in the same range you could either spy on or declare war on. That ALONE would be a HUGE game changer, Limit max amount received instead of sent, take out a "Western Union" charge on all transactions, etc. I would be nice to keep the max NS under 100k. Attempting to cater to huge nations has hamstrung all nations less than 2 years old, since wonders are time limited, as well as simple growth. I DO like the 1 turn/day, however. The problem is the game was originally designed with I'd guess a 50kNS Max nation, then a 125k-ish with the wonders. Reparations could be repaid quickly, yet massive tech deals would benefit the smaller guys far more than current, especially with the 3m/100 that is common.
13.
I love how that Website says MACHINED OUT OF SOLID BILLET!!!!!11!!!!!!!1!11!1!1!, as if there was such a think as hollow billet.......
Machined billet lowers are much better than Cast lowers, where the molten aluminum is poured into a mold to make something close to the final shape you see above, then machined. Cast aluminum cracks quite easily, relatively. Different manufacturers play with words to get more money for an inferior product, hence the precise wording. We tend to do things on the side of quality, something that if you buy it, it lasts a lifetime. Hence the Zippos, embroidered rather than printed cloth, etc. "Going the cheap route" nearly always ends up costing more a decade or so later, compared to doing it right the first time.
14. I forgot to mention in my previous post. If you do not already have an account on fangamers, you need to use an ISP/School/Work Provided email for signup. gmail/freemail aren't allowed for registrations, and you will get a "This email addy is banned" message. It's not you, it's the anon-email. That is doing it. If you have a friendly FFL and go with used parts, you could put together a decent platform from the lower (The lower is the item considered as "The Firearm", as it has the serial number on it) for around $500, though there are better avenues around that we are sort of experts at to help you get the bang for your buck. (pun intended). We will give advice and videos, but we aren't selling the rest of the parts. There are a lot of companies out there dealing in much higher volumes that we will point you to to get a better deal. Like Squeebo said, they are like a lego kit. 2 screws, a few pins and springs, and it's hard to put it together "wrong" (other than losing the springs, they tend to go near the speed of sound to a place in the workroom you didn't know existed. ) Quick rundown on parts: Lower parts kit, fills out the holes/gaps in what you see above is around $125 for a nice trigger, varies a bit. Stock: Telescoping stock or fixed stock, with buffer tube, around $100 Upper Receiver with barrel: This is where the price varies a LOT, depending if you want rails for lights, grips, night vision, etc. Low end is $250-ish, high end is $2,500-ish (with a good optic). The platform itself is very accurate, and essentially like a 57 Chevy, no matter what you start out with, you can always change out any parts later. Most of us (FAN Members) have several AR's for different purposes, such as competition, hunting, defense, close range, long range, etc. Others simply swap out the "Upper" (Barrel and upper receiver) for the different applications, using the same lower receiver (pictured in OP).
15. Just a note to those who are unaware: You need to admit you are over 18 years of age for our main forum, fangamers.net , which is where the details of this are. If we were advertising, we'd be offering the FAN Engraved Zippos, Embroidered Patches, Printed Geotags, Sewn Flags, and the other Swag we already have. The lower receiver doesn't have "FAN" on it, just the minuteman.
16. Too many game mechanic changes and rule additions in the past 2 years. Some of them were good, some were not. It be nifty to go back when nukes where FEARED, not just an annoyance. Essentially, Keep wonders, but roll back all the rules that were added to "Save big nations and infra" that started in 2007-2008. Examples are: 24 hr nuke rule, 1 nuke a day, limited offense slots, 50-200% Declaration range. Treat small nations the same as large nations when it comes to war and finance. As it stands, Huge nations cannot fall unless under prolonged war (BTDT, got the TShirt(s)). New "Game Mechanics" Idea that will get shot down in flames: Attach the currency to actual real-world values, so aid of 3mil US would be 4.5m Euro or whatever that day. Change currency once per month, so it could lose a lot of value by backing the wrong horse. Have the option of "Gold" as the base monetary unit to calculate the rest of the exchanges from (1/25th actual value to prevent a workaround). Similar to having a Lunar mine go bad, or too much currency on hand creates inflation that increases bills due to "Fiat money". Second "Game Mechanics" Idea: War is good for economies, as long as countries are not continually at war. Stagnate growth and income if there hasn't been actual infra/tech/land loss of >5% in a 6 month or so window, though removing the protections/war restrictions would remove the need for this. Change limits on foreign aid, similar to the old 50-200% war/spy rule and no limits, rather than the blanket set small limit. Allow families to play. Yes, duplicate nations are a problem, but trying to stop it with IP Addresses is a bit insane. Many more companies/campuses/schools switching to single IP firewall and web-cache. There are other ways to detect multis that do not rely on IP addresses at all. Roomates shouldn't have to get different ISP connections, or have one go to a WiFi Hotspot every time he wants to play... Which highlights why IP checks for multis is kind of useless anyway. <Insert standard treaty web complaint here, not expecting it to change, though>
17. Ya know, things might have turned out differently if you didn't sanction me. P.S. Hello, VA! We still love having you and R.O.C.K. as neighbors!
18. Pretty cool, but the Vogon Poetry was simply cruel.
19. 1) Do Not Use web based admin for the OS, such as PHPMyAdmin, MySQL Web Interface, etc. If you have no choice but to do so, put your hard IP Addy in the .htaccess file for access to only admin. 2) SSH - Use key only, no passwords allowed, no root login allowed. Also limit o IP block you know is yours. 3) Backup to a remote system daily. Log to a "write only" remote system if possible. 4) Run Tripwire or other intrusion detection system. 5) Use complicated passwords, "Leet Speak" combined with some non alpha-numeric characters tend to be fairly strong, but not bulletproof. 6) Always keep software, both OS and forum, updated. 7) Disable ALL non-essential services from the outside. Run Web server and database server so they can only speak to one another if on different machines. Turn off SMTP and other services if that box is not used for mail, etc.
20. If you are in the US, and have the logs, the FBI will help you out, and assist in prosecution, assuming the other party is found to also be a US resident. Again, if in the US, Contact your local field office.
21.
As for stimulants, all Angry Bee warriors are fueled by a cocktail of amphetamines, cocaine and steriods. Our soldiers have started calling the mix, which is blended into a very tasty fruit smoothie, liquid rage.
How did you find the FAN recipe? If you take away the girly juice, that's what keeps us zombies going. It's a helluva drug, ain't it?
22.
I have been incredibly impressed by aircastle throughout this. They've been throwing themselves against TOP with all of their might, and have been an amazing help. I can't possibly thank them enough for what they've done.
I agree. The level at which they are immersed in this war is usually only seen on the underdog side of wars, which gives their dedication a bit more impact as their "side" has the upper hand at the moment.
23. I am somehow reminded of FAN, circa 2007. Dunno if that is a good thing, or not.
24. Very well written and insightful. I agree with most of it. The exception to your statements is GW II and before, where the first mega bloc and large battle was fought to "Win the game", rather than to enforce a certain style of behavior.
