It seems especially poignant to recall here since the last treaty that directly tied the GOONS and VE ultimately ended in the destruction/dissolution of both alliances.

It would have been preferable to see Merrie come around a bit and remember the true meaning of his natural \m/ habitat. We all know he is the quintessential idealist in his stubbornness, perhaps a bit too much for an alliance that defines itself by the boundaries it pushes. I guess even the most excessive must exercise some moderation to be successfully excessive. I truly will miss MM as one of the most recognizable and vocal faces of \m/. This is an unfortunate development for some of us llamas, and I imagine especially welcome to those who place a premium on lengthening the cycles of global [strike]malaise[/strike] dominance.
