1.
This isn't really helping you, hiding in peace mode and all.
It's ok, he belongs to MK now
 2.
Things have more than one meaning sometimes.
Those two meanings are the same. Also, for those curious, the matter has been settled: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=94635
 3. I'll keep this fairly brief, though it seems necessary to inform the masses as you all seem to have quite a keen interest in what we do as an alliance. After consulting with TFD, the following has been agreed to: The initial offender, Rob Holmes III, has been expelled from The Foreign Division. Furthermore, that nation is hereby Goomba Listed by the Mushroom Kingdom. His war slots belong to us, and we will be reducing him to ZI. The second offender, Kevin Dunne, who attacked and anarchied an MK nation based on a false PM issued by Holmes, will not be held directly accountable for his actions and thus the Kingdom will take no direct action against his nation. To make amends for the damage dealt to the anarchied MK nation, TFD will pay $9 million in reparations, in the form of three $3million aid packets (one per aid cycle), paid to the damaged nation. This is a low-end estimate of the damages dealt to the MK nation, and both alliances agreed to this figure without incident. The holding wars declared by MK will be ended as per this agreement. I would like to thank TheTerminator for his class and helpfulness throughout. I would also like to tip my hat to Ashok and Rebel_Virginia of the NSO for immediately establishing and maintaining lines of communication, due to their alliance being pulled into this mess by Holmes. You may now resume your regularly scheduled impotent MK bashing. Edit Reason: Nitpicks for clarity
 4.
I honestly could care less about any potential long winded and terribly constructed passionate speech you may have put up. Your demeanor came off as demonstrative, your only statement made in that incident. So I spilled it over in here. And you can thank me now, and oh my goodness you're welcome, you're welcome!
de·mon·stra·tive    /dəˈmɒnstrətɪv/ [duh-mon-struh-tiv] –adjective 1. characterized by or given to open exhibition or expression of one's emotions, attitudes, etc., esp. of love or affection Say what you want about my style, but at least I know the meaning of the words I use
 5.
So wait, we get a member declaring war on us, a separate member attacking one of our members and anarchying them, and you're still going to call any demands extortion? That is rich.
Consider the source, my friend. Consider the source.
 6. It is wonderful for the Kingdom that we have such talented, apt, and insightful political pundits looking after our every move. Whatever would we do without such valuable insight? The Kingdom is addressing this matter privately with TFD. Had we felt the need to make a thread about it, we would have. And I promise you it would have been far more worthwhile reading than this.
 7.
Rob Holmes is not government. This Dow is not real. This is a joke thread. At this point, TFD is still protecting Rob as a member so any actions will be acts of war against TFD. This is a joke thread. I encourage MK's government to contact TFDs. Their names are on our boards. I hope that this can be resolved peacefully as it would be unfortunate if blood was spilled for a joke. If MK sustains any ingame damage, we'll take care of it. - Duncan King, Magistrate of TFD Ooc: at work, on cell phone. We are a primarily European based government so please give us time to get on.
Sup. We've got a nation in anarchy. Looks like we've got an act of war from TFD against MK, so that threat of yours doesn't really hold water anymore, now does it? We've paid you the courtesy of contacting you on two separate occasions. You've repaid by putting a nation of ours in anarchy. I'd strongly recommend you get off your high horse, realize your position, and consider actually facilitating some discussion before this gets nasty fast.
 8.
TFD and NSO I assume can be expecting to pay extortion fees for this as well?

Why don't you give them a deadline with more bs demands.
We were actually thinking of implementing a scaled reparation system with multipliers attached to the frequency of your posts of this nature.
 9. I would love to know the official stance of both involved governments as to what precisely this statement is.
 10. I back my government. Even if they make mistakes. I'm not sure why you guys are surprised by this either. Anyway, I know I said I was gone, but I wanted to drop back in on the thread that HoT won't let die and note that Heggo requested 3m50t sent to Heft as a result of the spying incident that occurred. I've agreed, and notified my treasury. The payment should be made shortly. Cheers.
 11. I'm dyin, squirtle. Anywho, just figured, given the public nature of this whole thing, that I'd let you fine chaps know I've been in touch with Heggo to work out a perfectly reasonable solution to the Heft issue. For the curious, apparently the nation in question found it *quite* amusing that rabo...ahh hell, I forget how to spell his name. Rabosomething came on the OWF and complained about being spied on and implied it was MK. That particular member decided if already guilty, why not commit the crime? (By the way, if you just thought to yourself "Ho-ho-holy **** that's dumb," I quite agree with you). Needless to say, that particular member has been severely disciplined. It was a pleasure feeding you folks some drama - always good to get a gauge on things, but I'm going to actually bow out of this. Sadly, I was otherwise preoccupied today and thus am not particularly inclined to follow up on some of the more amusing comments contained herein. As always, you're welcome to contact me in private about any concerns you might have. Til then, toodles.
 12.
It's not common sense in the way you are putting it. If you make a strong threat against someone and you don't follow through, or follow through with weak repercussions, your threats in the future don't seem as menacing or compelling. Voicing extreme displeasure in the OWF and giving an "or else" is pretty strong. Your range of possible responses in this case are pretty narrow if you don't want to damage the credibility of your future threats. LIke you said yourself, it's not unreasonable for others in this thread to assume war.
Haha. You got me there, I'll admit. My set of options was fairly limited, hence why it's a reasonable deduction. I may be playing coy here, but in all fairness I do think there were still options on the table other than outright alliance war, and I was not yet ready to count them out. Besides, I am perfectly comfortable eating crow when necessary.
 13.
Can we get the NSO government types to stop commenting on how Archon came in and saved MK? All that happened was he popped up and you caved, plain and simple. Instead of just sticking to what was said in the other thread you decided that you didn't want to face the idea of MK possibly attacking and paid. For better or worse, that is what happened. I personally don't think they would have attacked. I believe the bad press was already to the breaking point, which is why they had to bother with this to begin with, and I don't think a full scale assault would have been warranted or tolerated by the community, even against the NSO. And it would have cost MK precious influence, which is worth a lot more than NS when push comes to shove. They bluffed and you bought it, hook, line and sinker.
This assessment is far more accurate than your previous.
 14.
Go to hell Archon. I just wish NSO don't pay the extortion fee.
I can't imagine this is terribly constructive for the conversation by any stretch of the imagination. That said, duly noted.
 15.
This is correct to the best of my knowledge, though I don't think any gag orders were issued so much as Archon brand military support dissolving dust was sprinkled about various people and locales.
I have spoken with no one from the New Polar Order. I was queried by a member of the Siberian Tiger Alliance (was queried, mind you. I did not seek them out). So no, I'm afraid that statement was incorrect. Not to ruin the mystique or anything, but those measures weren't really necessary...
 16.
Respond accordingly means what then?
Respond accordingly means I would formulate a response much closer to the actual point that the decision would go into effect. Quite a bit can change in 48 hours - even if I made some form of a statement as to what that response would be now, there is no telling what factors could compel me to change my decision. I'm not sure why this is a strange or foreign concept to anyone...it's common sense.
 17.
Frankly I'm amazed. The CB would have been "For telling the public what we did and not paying our fine".
You folks seem to think we were going to declare war if the deal wasn't paid. That's an interesting assumption. Not necessarily unreasonable, but most certainly an assumption.
 18.
. . . I would hate to have to threaten you tonight, too."
If you're going to put a quote mark at the end, thus implying it's something I'd actually say, you used far too few words
 19.
You lost this one MK
I don't think I'd disagree, actually.
As someone who WANTS to favor the Mushroom Kingdom, you had me changing my mind...until this point. I think that one can reasonably say that regardless NSO accepted the deal. It probably never should have gone above a request for 3 mil to begin. And 3 mil plus 50 tech wouldn't have been enough to make a big deal about. However, one of the big things that RV was saying was he felt "threatened" into paying the larger amount. Maybe that was questionable before. However, since NSO hasn't said they will NOT pay it (or did they?) - why make this statement at all?
Very valid question. I'm tempted to say the theatrics are a tip of the hat to RV, who I hold in esteem, but really, whether I like it or not, people were looking for a very clear, very blunt message from the Kingdom. I have a habit of...speaking too much. I wished to make sure the general, agreed upon stance of the Kingdom was communicated in a clear matter. Where there are vagaries are not meant to imply a threat. But it was recommended to me by multiple parties to make it clear, set out a clear deadline, and an expectation. I hope that clears it up a bit. Thank you for the respectful tone.
 20.
You where quick to get the first few comments from MK members I see.
Sorry. I'm not a huge fan of amsg (due to the crying and queries it elicits) and, in my sequence of posting the announcement in various channels, I started in MK channels as they were at the top of my list.
 21. The Kingdom has issued the following statement: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=94470
 22. From the Desk of the King Long time no see. Obviously, this whole break thing isn't working out. As most of the politically aware world is, well, aware of at this point, there was a point of contention between the Mushroom Kingdom and the New Sith Order. This concerned a nation, wearing the New Sith Order Alliance Affiliation and bearing the mask of a member on the Sith Order's private forum, who jobbed Big Jeff of Aloha, a long-time Mushroom Kingdom protectorate. Big Jeff issued a payment of $3 Million to the nation in question so that said nation could acquire a harbor to facilitate their participation in an Kingdom-organized trade circle. The nation accepted the aid, then, without notice, left the circle. Highway robbery, if you will. Understandably upset, the Kingdom launched an investigation, revealing the nation in question was a masked member of the Sith Order and a member on their Alliance Affiliation. This was screencapped in anticipation of what eventually came to pass - a timely demasking and dissociation. One might argue this is even standard procedure. That is up to the individual to interpret. At this point, I'm simply recounting history. It was at this point that I will rather openly admit that the Kingdom erred. We demanded a sum of 15 million and 250 tech (a package of 3 million and 50 tech to each affected nation). It is quite important to note that this sum was *not* based on the popular misconception that a member of MK gov believed each affected nation had sent out 3 million. The following excerpt of the initial contact conversation between Yevgeni and Lintwad illustrates this quite clearly:
[16:59] <Yevgeni> Guy was contacted for a trade circle composed of MKers or MK-friends. We needed his resources to complete it. [16:59] <Yevgeni> We promised him 3m so he could pay his harbour. [17:00] <Yevgeni> He moved to Aqua, accepted the 3m but cancelled the trade offers, despite clear instructions and him saying he had read the instructions (obv. since he moved to Aqua). [17:00] <Yevgeni> So yeah.
It was simply a rather high sum. In fact, I would say it was too high. Perhaps the negotiators expected the Sith to actually negotiate. I believe that expectation has been voiced. That does not defend it. Of course, I am still just recounting events that occurred. And passing my own judgment, as King of the Mushroom Kingdom. The number asked was too high. And the Kingdom would have been very, very willing to settle for a substantially lower fee. Would have been. To be fair, the situation was strained from the outset. The Sith were disorganized, contradictory in their information, and, later, outright hostile. However, even in that situation, such attitude could have been forgiven. What cannot be forgiven is the willful and blatant assault on the face of the Kingdom. The PR assault waged by Rebel Virginia, second in command of the Sith Order, is something the Kingdom cannot condone, and will not encourage. To believe that we would is folly. We can, and will, deal with it. But we will not condone it, we will not encourage it, and we sure as hell will not reward it. Therefore, I come to the last piece of historical evidence. Rebel Virginia agreed to the sum to be paid. The aid packets were sent, though all have since been canceled save one that was accepted. A deal was forged, and indeed, that agreement has been posted for all the world to see. I think most all of you have borne witness to it. I have publicly stated that I do not personally believe the deal was fair. I have publicly stated that, normally, the Kingdom would have been quite willing to come down. But not when you launch a PR war against us. Not when you take a private matter public in such a manner. That is not something the Kingdom will support. As a leader, I have, on multiple occasions, readily admitted mistakes, and have not hesitated to reverse actions. However, the Sith Order has blown that chance. The deal stands. After consulting with people on both sides of the issue (read: people in that thread who were on both sides), the Kingdom has agreed upon a 48 hour deadline from the issuance of this proclamation. For ease of timekeeping, two updates hence. Therefore, to be crystal clear: The Mushroom Kingdom expects the remaining payment to be delivered by 11:59PM server time, the 10th of November, 2010. Should the Sith Order fail to deliver, then the Kingdom will interpret the deal as reneged and will respond accordingly. Signed this 9th day of November, 2010 Archon King of the Mushroom Kingdom Edit Reason: Grammar, hurf durf.
 23. I got like...23 pages in and couldn't deal with anymore, went to back channels, and suddenly found progress. A statement from the Kingdom is forthcoming. OOC: Developing carpal tunnel is painful. Might be slow to write. Patience, s'il vous plait.
 24.
[01:21] <~Archon> this is a disaster.
LOOK AT THOSE FLAG SIZES! JUST LOOK AT THEM! It's horrible
