  1. [somewhere in Saboria, in a highly secret location] [Extremely classified] A man with a white labcoat was looking through a one-way window. On the other side, there was a child, perhaps 9 or 10 years old, as well as two older men in labcoats. One was playing with the child, the other had a clipboard, occasionally writing onto it. This would be classified as a very strange sight to most, but these scientists were used to weirder things. Other things in the room with the child were things that could be found in any children's room. Plush animals, lego, a gaming console and various other toys and playthings. The child, named 7H30, sometimes called 'Theo', looked to be quite happy with what it was currently doing. He looked to be ten, but in reality wasn't even three months old. Theo was one of the genetic experiments that the scientists of Saboria did. The man in the white coat walked to another toom. There, a seemingly 14 year old girl sat alone, playing with the came console. A quite unusual thing about her - aside from being only one and a half years old - was the tail and ears that she had, both remarkably similar to those of a cat, only bigger - in human size. The cat-ears replaced the normal ones, thus making the sides of her head look creepily smooth. Wearing glasses would be very hard for her. She, like Theo and many others in this facility, was part of the many genetic experiments. Hybrids, changed bone-structure, manipulated strength, speed, intelligence. All these and other things were possible, but they had required many experiments and long years of working. And many children like Theo or the girl with the catears. If anything of the things happening in this facility were to become known to the international community, Saboria could quite possibly face world-wide trade embargos. Some madmen - or madwomen - could even go as far as trying to attack the country or this research laboratory, which not only was secret, but also heavily defended. The people at this facility were chosen personally by the Chairman and some of his loyal advisors, thus the risk of enemy agents was near zero. In fact, if any foreign power knew about this facility, the most they would know was that it was heavily guarded and thus important. 99% of the people working here also lived here, under heavy surveillance. The 1% that didn't live here was under even heavier surveillance, so that no secret would ever leave the facility without the Chairman's approval. Thus, only a few men and the manager/lead scientist knew about every single subject and project. None of the others knew all, partially because of forgetting about them, partially because of never hearing about them. Said manager also was the man who constantly updated the Chairman about any scientific progress. Fjodor Leclerc. The father a russian immigrant, a factory worker. The mother a faithful canadian housewife, always working for the good of the family. They struggled to get their child proper education, but in the end, it had paid off for him. All that was before the revolution that brought the Chairman into power, back then still called 'Emperor'. After the revolution, Fjodor had made a few good friends in the government. His ambitions were high, even more so when his father was diagnosed with lung-cancer. Three months after his (the father's) demise, Fjodor's mother didn't wake up at 6 AM, as she usually did, In fact, she never woke up after that day. Despite all the rationality of the new Ubersteinian system, Leclerc felt irrational hatred towards the Creator and was sadder than ever before. Even today, he silently grieves, but every little step in the genetic sciences make him a bit happier. Despite the fact that his parents (including the brains) are perfectly conserved somewhere in one of Ferinh's modern hospitals, the man cared by now only about doing his part to bring man closer to godhood. And his part was creating new life. First, he changed already existing species, manipulate their strength, intelligence, etc. Then, he mixed them as he saw fit, creating sometimes horrible hybrids. And lastly, he would create a completely new kind of animal. This last step would take longest, possibly well over 10 or more years. But he didn't care about time. He only cared about his work. Fjodor walked to the next 'cell'. There, a 35 year old man sat, apathetic. He was one of the oldest - longest-existing, rather - subjects in the facility, named C064. C064, also called 'Cody' on occasion, was...Dumb. When he was made, the scientists didn't spend much, if any time with him, so until this day, his mind mostly was that of a 2 year old child. A 2 year old on whom traumatising experiments had been conducted and still were. Simple clothes, a pullover and pants covered the scarred body. He just sat there, staring. Fjodor sighed. The subject would soon be gone within less than a month, a brain tumor shortening his life by a few months. The scientist proceeded back to his office to think about the results of newer experiments.
  2. I have a full navy of 59 vessels and pay only a million per day. Not too much, imo. Infra is four times that.
  3. OOC: Fun fact. LINKAGE (first post)
  4. OOC: Derailing isn't possible in this thread unless I say it's derailed. I could use a fission- or fusion plant, theoretically, but scaling that stuff down to these sizes (especially fusion) is hard any may be out of my reach, tech-wise.
  5. OOC: Have fun wasting your resources for a needlessly ambitious project
  6. OOC: I can put more than one engine into a tank, and I can also put a more powerful engine into the tank. Granted, it'll take more fuel or whatever I'm using, but I don't really like coilguns that much.
  7. [Yet another private conversation, about 3 months after the previous one] "We have some interesting results, Sir." "Oh? Go, tell me about them." "We managed to find out how the accelerated growth causes the sicknesses, etc. While it may take a month or two per subject to fix that, a kind of 'mass-production' is indeed possible. But that will need more research and refining. Until then, each subject iwll more or less be hand-made." "Interesting, most interesting." "As for the Leopard tanks, we found a few issues with the current design coupled with railguns. We'll have to redesign the entire tank, but after that, we can easily outfit them with railguns as their main weaponry. As for the K.I. project, it made some advances, and we can probably expect a working prototype within the next two months." "Good. And the outfitting of other systems with railguns?" "Well, the howitzers are as good as done. Not many things have to be changed for the railguns to work. Unless you object, the new ones will be named PZH 2100." "I don't object." "The battleships are in the process of getting their new weaponry. The railguns on them will be able to fire about 400 kilometers far, capable of penetrating basically every armor that's thrown at them. And with the laser-based anti-air guns, they'll be able to take each and every threat from the skies out. They'll be powered with fusion to provide power for the guns." "It provides more and better power than nuclear reactors, right?" "Yes." "Good. Now, another thing. Are out men able to mass-produce that stuff that we'll need for the space-elevator?" "Yes, Sir. Once we receive some land from the Republic, the construction can theoretically begin." "Excellet. I shall contact them soon." "Other than that, there's no big news from our projects." "Too bad. Anyways, when can we begin production of the first hybrids and enhanced humans?" "As soon as the disease-risks have been taken care of." "Good. That was all for today?" "Yes, Sir." "Well then, until next time." "Until then. Goodbye, Chairman." OOC: My redesigned Leopard tank will be this:
  8. OOC: Shan had 3600 tech, now he had 3360. Do the math
  9. OOC: Well, good that I'm a rational person and am using not only radar to find stuff in my territory or going towards it.
  10. OOC: What exactly is a 'plasma stealth bomber'?
  11. OOC: I'm not worrying, just stating facts.
  12. OOC: Well, it'll likely stay near your territory in peace-times, or above the ocean. Should it happen to get into my territory, you will suddenly find yourself an orbital bombardment platform short.
  13. OOC: That means getting the satellite above my territory and then launching the rods. Just sending such a thing into/over my territory can be considered a declaration of war. I'm assuming that they are in geostationary orbits, btw.
  14. OOC: Indeed. Also, Shan, don't forget that I'm only a year or two behind you in tech. We're almost equal in strength.
  15. OOC: Won't happen, unless someone conquers and divides my country. Which is unlikely
  16. An address from the Emperor. The Emperor stands on a podium, behind him the Saborian flag "Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends and Comrades. A recent survey has shown that the people no longer were satisfied with the name of our country. Thus, I asked them what the new name should be. Several names were suggestes, but one has prevailed above all others in a nation-wide vote, in which almost 95% of all with the right to vote participated. The people have decided, and thus Saboria will from today on be named the Saborian Democratic Republic, or SDR in short." He put his right hand onto his chest. The began playing. OOC: Those with some knowledge of history know what I now 'officially' am. Ever heard of the German Democratic Republic?
  17. After talking with the government of the UNSA, both nations have agreed that the southern part of Baffin Island, the entirety of Southampton Island and several smaller islands between these and Saboria will be incorporated into Saboria. This step is motivated similarly as back when parts of Hurontario were brought into Saboria, to bring these people a stable government and protect them from lawlessness. The rest of the former District of York, which's government unexpectedly dissolved, leaving the country in anarchy, shall remain a protectorate of the USNA until a new nation gains enough power to emerge onto the world stage. Currently, two divisions are moving into the area to pacify it and bring order back into the region.
  18. OOC: <.< >.> That doesn't count D=
  19. OOC: You may have failed to note than my railgun-satellites can fire at other satellites, killing them enemy sats. As for planes: What plane can drop a bomb that flies 200 kilometers? I have defenses not only close to Ferinh, but basically in the entire country, most near the coasts of course. Also, lasers can shoot howitzer-shells down (IRL, even today, needing only a second), so I can't see why they wouldn't be able to shoot conventional bombs down.
  20. A small update By the SNN The construction on all the projects, the Center Tower, the Nakheel Tower and the SkyCity has begun. More than 100,000 construction workers will be involved in the construction of the projects for the next years. The first parts of the SkyCity will likely be inhabitable within the next year.
  21. OOC: That joke's funny. IC: We are merely ensuring that we use the available space as efficiently as we possibly can. Would we not build skyscrapers, we would have to expand the SkyCity's area to well over 400 km² for the same amount of usable space. As we are building vertically, 250+ km² of countryside around Ferinh will be spared. OOC: Indeed. I can give you some links that could be cool.
  22. OOC: Third, actually. The Nakheel Tower will be #1, The SkyTower #2.
