  1. OOC: c: Great textings. IC: Those in the co*kpit were able to easily see the moon - it filled almost their entire view, after all. An artificial voice filled the shuttle. "Going into orbit in 8 minutes and 30 seconds." What it announced was obvious. The shuttle would go into the moon's orbit, circling it several times before actually landing. The entire procedure would take approximately two hours. Once these were over, small rockets on the shuttle activated to bring it into the right position, similar to how a satellite changes its position. Then, rockets activated for several seconds to accelerate it towards the moon's surface; The descent began, and would take several minutes. As it was only a hundred meters or so away from the surface, once again small rockets activated to slow it down. The landing gear came from the shuttle's belly and after a minute that seemed like an eternity, it finally touched the ground. "Gentlemen, it's official. We're absolutely awesome." The astronauts went to put on their heavy suits, the helmet put on as the last part, as usual. The radio activated and one activated the video camera that was on his helmet - it would send the pictures to Saboria, live. From there, everyone on Bob who wished to do so could watch the S.N.N. channel. It currently was 6 in the morning in Saboria. The leader of the mission, Commander Blofeldt, walked to the airlock. He pressed several buttons that had the effect of pumps sucking all atmosphere out of the room the astronauts were in - without their suits, they'd of course die. Once the atmosphere was gone, Blofeldt opened the airlock. Speaking into the radio, both the men here and a few minutes later the people watching the event on their TVs could hear him. "This is only the first step of many. Let us go on and conquer space." Saying that, he jumped out of the shuttle and onto the moon's surface. Now, they'd do their mission, examine the surroundings, collect rocks and do other things. But the first thing to do was to plant two flags in the ground. The Saborian one and the Republican one. Commander Blofeldt rammed the flag's post into the ground and unrolled it, saluting into the camera afterwards. However, it was not the flag that people were used to. It had slight...Changes. Four stars had been added to it. After this, Blofeldt turned to Q'tar. "Now it's your turn. Make your country proud." He smiled, although that couldn't be seen through the helmet. OOC: Sargun, your turn again. Also, I expect an outroar by the nations of the world. After all, what does china's flag look like, hm? Right you are, it looks like this. *Click*
  2. OOC: <3 IC: Working Reforms A report by the SNN The Chairman has announced that he want to reform the entire system of how the working sector works - especially the wages, but also securities, worker unions, etc. From what is currently known, the wage-system will be changed to something similar to the following: Each worker gets a set amount of money for each ended hour of work, depending on the exact kind of job, coworkers and several other factors. Each worker decides for himself how much and when he works, making the system highly deregulated. This also applies to managers, who will additionally have a maximum limit for pay that they may receive in a month. An independent analyst from Promised Land has commented that these reforms, quote "...are completely idiotic. Does the Chairman want to turn his country communist? His title fits already. Stalin and Mao were chairmen, did you know that?", quote end. There was no response form the government to this as of now. Some have criticised these reforms, claiming that they would lead to nobody working anymore, The Chairman's reponse to this was, quote "If they don't work, they don't get money. If they work, they get money. It's that simple. If you people don't work anymore, they'll simply get no money, because they're doing nothing.", quote end. Other reforms will follow, but it currently is unknown what exactly they will be. Foreign analysts believe the reforms to lead Saboria further to a "red" government and state. That is all for today, Thank you and good night.
  3. OOC: Thanks. =3 IC: **Private Message to Mr. Anderson** Should you have the time, then I'd ask you to visit us for a few months. You don't want to go up there unprepared, do you? Your shuttle is scheduled to launch in approximately 14 months, more than enough time for you to finish the tests. Regards, Chairman Lynneth OOC: Also, Sargun, go write what your guy thinks. <.<
  4. OOC: I'm listening to the song right now in winamp, and it's only 2:46 long. The videos actually are too long. Also, planning things. <3
  5. An address from the Emperor. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends and Comrades. A few weeks ago, a group of citizens wrote their thoughs about Saboria and my rule down, on paper and gave this to the government. Folowing this, a nationwide survey has been conducted and the results are quite interesting. Many people have expressed their demand for a new national anthem, feeling that our current one does not fit our country. As response to this and suggestions taken during the survey, a composer has written an entirely new anthem for our glorious country. It will be played at the end of this address. Another thing that showed in the survey is that many of the people have the opinion that the Ubersteinianism we have is, I quote, 'essentially how communism should really be done and how it should work'. While I, personally, have a different opinion, I will respect the views and opinions of the people I'm ruling. I am, after all, only the voice of the people who brought me to this position when we remade our country. Thus, from now on, my position will no longer be called "Emperor", but "Chairman". We are no imperialistic country, which is another reason why I'm abandoning the old title. Political parties will soon be established, but there will be no elections for the position of the Chairman until it has been assured that each and every citizen that is capable of voting will do so by using logic and rationality. Within the next weeks, there will also be polls about a possible renaming of our country as well as major projects for strengthening the economy and reducing the unemployment to zero percent. Additionally, research on railgun weaponry has begun, inspired by some of the impressive technologies used by the Rebel Army and Naboo Technologies. The current 120 mm barrels of the Leopard 2A7 tanks will likely be replaced by 85 mm railguns once the scientists researching this technology have made using them safe and efficient enough, not to speak of providing the power needed for the railguns. Last but not least, I have to announce that the expansion of our nuclear arsenal has been completed. The exact amount that we have is, obviously, classified, but let me say that we have more than enough. Thank you. The new anthem will now begin playing. The Anthem While the anthem was playing, the television showed a military parade, organized to celebrate the new anthem and going from 'Emperor' - and thus Imperium or Empire - to 'Chairman', something that sounded much more peaceful. And somewhat more "red". OOC: Disregard the background pic in the Youtube video. And disregard that it's the commie theme. This song is just too awesome not to use. And no, I have no idea what the lyrics are. I don't care. Also, alternative version, sounding different, but otherwise the same:
  6. DEFCON has been lowered to 4. On other news: The channel switches to showing the Saborian Spaceport. "T-minus 15 minutes. All non-essential personnel, clear the launching area." -In the shuttle- "Fifteen minutes...Then we'll be the ones bringing Saboria to a new era." "It's an honor being able to do this with you guys." The others nodded. One looked to the Republican astronaut, smiling. "I'm also glad it's not only us Saborians going to the moon. That rock in Bob's orbit belongs to all of us." Again, the others nodded. There were, in total, 10 men on the shuttle. "T-minus 10 minutes." Countless civilians and military personnel had gathered in the general area of the spaceport to watch the shuttle lift off. The entire nation was watching - these men would land on the moon, after all. They would not just go on walks in zero-G or orbit the moon, they would actually visit it. -In the shuttle- "Well, let's buckle up. We want to follow regulations, don't we?" They fastened their seatbelts, put on the helmets and sealed them onto their suits, sealing them off from the outside world, save for the radio built into each suit and the HUD-display in front of their eyes, showing everything in front of them by using a small camera. "T-minus 5 minutes. All personnel, clear the area. All personnel, clear the area." They waited, silently. All obeyed the orders. Soon, there was not a single soul within 150 meters of the shuttle, and those closer than 300 meters wore protective suits. "T-minus one minute." All non-essential work had ceased. Many silently counted down. T-minus ten seconds. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One. Zero!" The shuttle's rockets began rumbling, making the ground around the platform on which the shuttle was shake. For a few seconds, an immense cloud of smoke prevented observers from looking at the shuttle, then it was again viewable, rising into the air, leaving a trail of smoke behind it. Only minutes later, the astronauts felt gravity weakening, only their own mass and inertia keeping them in their seats while the first phase rockets disconnected from the shuttle, soon burning to dust in the atmosphere. The second phase rockets activates. They would be enough to bring the shuttle close enough to the moon to attempt to land. Although this second phase burned only for minutes, disconnecting after they were burned out, they brought the vehicle to a high enough speed to reach the moon within only a few days. During this time, the astronauts would do what they also did during missions into Bob's orbit: They made science and had fun in the zero-G environment. Half an hour before reaching the moon, a siren would notify them that they would soon arrive. Upon hearing it, they would go back into their seats, waiting for the shuttle to go into orbit. OOC: Sargun, you can write a bit 'bout what your man thinks, says, etc. Also, comments appreciated.
  7. War and Factories A report by the SNN In light of the recent war in Europe, which may or may not involve Saboria, several new industrial complexes are being built. Several are intended for war-production, although most are for producing good that can be used by both military and civilians. The factories will provide many new needed jobs. Additionally, the birth-rate of the last years has been, according to experts, unusually high. This, together with american immigrants who want to live under the Ubersteinian philosophy, may boost Saboria's population to well over 36 million people within the next years. It has also been announced that 40,000 new soldiers have finished their training recently, while some hundred tanks were finished, too. OOC: Got a donation, bought ~200 infra. Hell yeah, 400 infra.
  8. It has recently been announced that the Saborian military will go to DEFCON 1, the highest military readiness. Further information is, unfortunately, classified.
  9. It would be possible, althouhg the cable is the most important part of the elevator. Without it, the elevator is absolutely useless. Our scientists are still working on finding a suitable material.
  10. OOC: 'Muscleinni'? Sounds suspiciously like 'Mussolini' <.< >.> IC: This is an interesting proposition. If it is decided that the elevator will be built, then we would appreciate getting a small strip of land on the equator to construct the elevator. An engineer has suggested that the actual construction will take less then a month, although the necessary materials do not exist yet - initial tests have shown that even carbon-nanotubes are not sufficiently strong to withstand the immense powers that will be working. The tubes are incredibly strong at distances below one centimeter, but above that, inevitable defects in the structure weaken them to the point of 'only' withstanding 30 Gigapascal, whereas the needed material would have to withstand at least 62 Gigapascal. Once the research facility in the north of Saboria is completely finished, the scientists there may be capable of finding such a material.
  11. The spaceshuttle which will land on the moon will start in only two months. A single astronaut from the Republic has been allowed to participate and take a walk on the moon with the Saborian astronauts, as a thanks for the Republic giving Saboria their part of Newfoundland. After that mission, several others will be undertaken, and there even are plans for establishing a research outpost on the moon, to test experiments in a zero-G environment, although it is unlikely that it will be built within the next decade. Scientists are emphasizing that there is a need for a space-elevator before any expansion by mankind into space is made, as a space-elevator would rapidly lower the cost of bringing material into orbit. The renowned scientist Arno Penzias has suggested the Canary Islands as good location for the elevator, as tropical storms are rare and they (The islands) are close enough to the equator. Currently, a team of engineers and scientists is evaluating the usefulness of the elevator.
  12. Generosity of the Republic A report by the SNN A few days ago, the Republic, the area-wise biggest african country has given their territory on the island of newfoundland to Saboria. The Emperor has publically thanked the Republic for this move and expressed his gratitude for them. It is expected that in response to receiving the Republican third of Newfoundland, one of the early missions to the moon will be allowed have one of their astronauts on board. Currently, three divisions as well as numerous policemen are moving onto the island to tell the inhabitants of the change and to help them leave, should they desire to do so. Travel by ship will be free, travel by plane will only cost a fourth of the original price for these people. Fusion power Today, the fusion power plants that will power the research complex Black Mesa have begun power generation. Thanks to Naboo Technologies, they were finished quickly and efficiently. Within the next days, the first experiments will begin, although the particle accelerators still have to be cooled down to operational temperatures.
  13. **Classified: Armed Forces report** As the transport of the formerly Garretian citizens is complete, the carrier-groups and transports that participated are being called back home. Defcon is lowered to 4 in the entire nation, including the Canary Islands. The carrier group is called back home. Currently, 5 carrier groups are near the mainland, one stationed in the Uberstein Empire. The Saborian Navy consists of 56 ships. Of the 1,473,600 soldiers, 10,000 are on the Canary Islands, the rest in military bases at home. Our men are excellently trained, and there are few single nations in the world that could stand up to them. Of the 7,120 tanks, 200 are on the Canary Islands, the rest in military bases at home. There is a total of 5,120 Leopard 2A7 tanks, 1,000 Prussian Tiger III tanks, 1,000 tanks of the Uberstein Vessla series. Of the 85 airplane-squadrons, three are stationed on the Canary Islands, the rest in bases at home. In each squadron are 18 fighters or bombers, making a total of 1530 military planes. 20 Bomber-squadrons and 65 Fighter-squadrons. We possess 50 Cruise Missles, all stationed on the mainland. We also have 14 nuclear warheads above 5 Megatons, four of which are thermonuclear and reach a yield of over 20 MT. We have several dozentactical warheads, between 500 kT and 2 MT. Almost all nuclear warheads are stationed in secret nuclear silos in Saboria. Only a single one is on the Canary Islands, having brought there secretly. It is tactical, the yield 1 MT and uses a ballistic missle to reach its target. **/Classified** The expansion of the Spaceport has begun. In the last days, several rockets have been fired to send probes onto the moon. The ideal landing point will be known within the next three weeks. Detailed picture of the moon have been made by the spaceshuttle sent to circle it for three days. The pictures are currently classified, but may be made public within the next decade. OOCEdit: Changed the soldier/tank numbers according to Lavo's formula, which gives me ~1.5M soldiers.
  14. This will likely be no problem. Important announcement The Emperor has decided only hours ago that the Spaceport shall be expanded for capabilities of serving up to five shuttles at once, instead of only a single one. The expansion itself may cost as much as 5.4 billion, while the construction of ten new space shuttles will cost 3.2 billion. Construction will begin within the month, the expansion of the spaceport taking approximately 18 months, while the space shuttles will take only 13 months.
  15. This is good to know, and we thank you for this open-ness. Announcement We hereby reserve the right to not let a nation participate in a spaceflight without having to state a reason for our decision. The first nations affected by this are Tahoe, Neo Japan and the Imperium of America. OOC:The first two are completely random. IoA due to the territory they have right south of Saboria. Me no like. D=
  16. It is good that you are aware of this. However, as you may know, Saboria has, some time ago, implemented policies similar to that of the Uberstein Empire, and as such, the scientists you send will, while living here, have to obey our laws, restrictions, et cetera. But that should be obvious. The scientists may thus miss a few of the rights they were used to in a non-Ubersteinian nation. However, we believe that they will have no problems, should they be thinking rationally, as it is expected from scientists.
  17. Merely being physically fit is not the only prerequisite for being able to go into space. The training for any 'newbie' can take anywhere between nine and eighteen months, depending not only on health, but also the mental state and their prowess with the necessary systems. We require every astronaut to be capable of landing a shuttle on his own, and this will include foreign and Saborian scientists.
  18. This is no problem at all. Just know that, as the Promised Land-scientists, your men will have to do the same training as our men. Be noted that it is quite rigurous, although not (yet) breaking any human rights. *Saborian Spaceport* "T minus ten... Nine... Eight... Seven... Six... Five... Four... Three... Two... One... ZERO!" "Lift-off!" Only minutes ago, a spaceshuttle has been sent into space. While it will not land on the moon, it will circle it for three days, making detailed maps of our planet's companion. Within the next days, several probes will be sent to find out a good location for landing.
  19. OOC: I have the necessary tech, so there.
  20. While it certainly is possible to let foreign scientists with the astronauts, we would prefer the first missions to be purely Saborian. Further missions can be multi-national, although each of the non-Saborian participants will have to go through the same tests, training, et cetera as Saborian astronauts and scientists.
  21. OOC: While I already have a news-thread, I realize that I need a thread into which I can put basic RPs such as sending spaceshuttles to the moon or fleet-movements. Comments on non-classified stuff is encouraged, and classified things can get OOC-comments, I don't mind. Just don't derail my thread. IC: **Classified** In response to BlackKnight stationing almost their entire army on the african westcoast, a carrier battlegroup was sent to the Canary islands and the troops were put into Defcon 3. The mainland's forces are put into Defcon 4. **Non-classified** Recently, the saboria spaceport in the east of the nation has been quite active, and for a good reason: The Emperor wants to send Saborian astronauts to the moon. Currently, rockets are being prepared to send probes to Bob's natural satellite, and astronauts are being trained for actually landing on the moon and spending at least one earth-day on it. 22. "I will not comment further. Please attend Uberstein's press conference, all your questions and doubts will be answered there."
  23. "And once he's gone again, they'll go back to fighting each other. I know how this works, but you apparently don't. Either Uberstein goes through with his plan, helping to end the rebellion once and for all *and* getting them democracy or he leaves now, letting the country go back to its civil war which will most probably be not only a lot bloodier but may also affect bordering countries negatively. It's all a matter of rational thinking."
  24. Message from the Emperor to Promised Land "So bringing order to a country that is overwhelmed with rebellions because its leader died is imperialism these days? Well then, remind me to neever help Promised Land, should they ever face a rebellion that may well overwhelm them completely. Besides, these people are being brough democracy! Do you not approve of that? You are a democracy yourself, after all."
  25. Mobilization A report by the SNN Today, the order for mobilization has gone out to the military. Saboria will go to DEFCON two, meaning this is an increase in force readiness just below maximum readiness. The Emperor's statement was the following. "It has come to my attention that some nations are against what Uberstein currently is doing in Garretia. This move is to show that I fully approve of what Uberstein is doing." Shortly after this statement, the Emperor ordered two Carrier groups - 2 carriers, 2 destroyers, 3 frigates, 3 cruisers, 3 battleships, 3 corvettes, a total of 16 ships, not including several transports - to Ubersteinian waters, according to the ministry of defense "A large-scale exercise to show our Ubersteinian friends a few things once they get their own navy." According to an anonymous source, a full five squadrons of airplanes are on each carrier, although it is unknown if the planes are bombers, fighters or both. Reportedly, 70,000 soldiers and 1,000 tanks are on the transports, too for a military exercise of wide scope, together with the Uberstein Empire.
