  1. Gotcha, then I support the idea. I also like the idea of cooperate sponsored armies as I think it adds realism to the game. If worst came to wost people could always be required to RP corporate soldiers with their own soldier count.
  2. Would colonial armies be in addition to your own troops eg, could I move my own soldiers to my colonies or can I only have the colonial force present? Perhaps I misread.
  3. I don't think we should reset, its not really that bad. Just accept nuclear winter as something random and fun.
  4. Based on what I have seen this should fit. Pre-WWII Switzerland was ruled by an Absolute Monarchy (the family lines of which are traced to several of my own leaders). A revolution and subsequent surrender to Germany disfranchised this dynasty, and exiled it. This explains the random Swiss influences in my nation as over time a sense of entitlement and idealism regarding the old Switzerland led to an obsession with it producing the mentality of some of the Imperium's leaders today.
  5. It had been a few days since the initial invasion of Sumartra and aside from a formal complaint issued by nova islands which he had been quick to deconstruct there had been no international objection; in fact his own nation’s ally and neighbor endorsed the matter. For Mathew Kaine this would be his first time as a high level executive; he had served on the board of directors of Solex a move his father, the Patriarch of House Kaine had organized. The Imperium’s military was really a combination of the six Great Houses former armies which had been for the most part merged and trained in a standardized set of protocols. This formal army of the Imperium was what was now securing the northern section of Sumatra, his own personal guard the remaining elite force of House Kaine was serving as his personal guard. Entering the already conquered city a caravan of lightly reconnaissance vehicles entered the city, each of these could hold three individuals, a driver, a passenger, and a person to man the machine gun mounted to the back. (OOC: Think halo warthog) In one of these sat the new viceroy a bit exposed, and a bit unprotected perhaps, but confident in the competence of his men. Barreling up the main road which had been cleared for the escort he saw troops almost everywhere he hoped he would be able to capture the hearts and minds of these individuals has his friend Stephen had in turkey. Unfortunately unlike Turkey this territory had fairly little development, as such the only real major city to set up as a capital had been Banda Aceh at its northern tip which he had promptly renamed New Lausanne. From here the port would be expanded and the operations in the Java trench initiated. Through his army he had requested a meeting of the local populace at the governor’s estate, the home the former leading official had occupied. The city itself honestly need a lot of work, he hoped to build it up to a level similar to those in the Imperium, a well as build a similar transportation system here as that of his home. The estate however was located near the center of the city, it was what appeared to be a Georgian mansion defiantly something influenced by the strong British influence in the region years before. Pulling into the circular drive that led up to its front entrance it appeared there was already a large crowed formed in the center of the lawn. His LRV halted and he as climbed from the open aired passenger seat. Immediately flanked by his guard they all entered into the mansion. “Sir if you will follow me to the balcony we have a lectern set up there for you.” Kaine looked at the official with a bit of incredulity. “No, that will give off the wrong impression, bring a table to the raised entrance created by the cascading stairs around it. Place it in the center.” “Very well sir.” The set up was arranged. Soon after the crowed had grown much larger than expected, Kaine stepped out of the entrance still wearing the black dress uniform of his nation adorned in silver trappings and a large silver chain of office. Taking his seat at the table he looked out among the crowd, a portable PA system had been set up to make the address easier. Thankfully he would not need an interpreter as many of these people at least could understand English. “Good evening ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce myself; I am Mathew Kaine appointed Viceroy of this External Administration Zone Two. I know many of you may be offended by these recent perhaps even brazen actions of the Imperium. I for one would be wary of any foreign power taking charge of my homeland. That said I want to assure you this responsibility does not come to me lightly. Just coming into this nation today I see chronic underdevelopment, poverty, crop failures, malnourishment and a government that while well meaning lacks the resources to truly do anything about it. Many of you I know are thinking, ‘well its our government’, or ‘well its our problem’ I understand this which is why I will say this honestly isn’t our only reason for being here. Off your coast there is a deep trench in the ocean at the bottom of which is heavy water. This water and the elements that make up it are required to run our energy plants in the Imperium. Without it there would be total instability, violence, disunity or a massive shift in the way we operate. War threatens our access to other similar trenches so we have no choice but to come here and secure one ourselves. That said we are here to stay so we might as well make the best of the situation and work together to improve the lives of the Indonesian people. For your cities we intend to build marvelous domes shielding you from the harsh environment of the tropics, to connect these cities we shall build a great mass transit system able to move massive volumes of material between cities this shall extend within the city eliminating the need for costly vehicles and fuels. Our business in the trench will bring billions of needed Imperial Credits to your banks and thus your economy; all this construction will create jobs and build construction companies out of nowhere; in short this land will prosper by our united effort. All we ask, is your passive cooperation, and tacit consent. Continue about your lives, work with us if you like; and we will take care of the rest. For now that is all I have to say, if there are any questions I’d be happy to answer them now.” The crowd nodded, and began to applaud, Kaine knew he had won their support.
  6. The Imperium watches with interest but is ultimately indifferent of who wins. OCC: Well I think if they are an inactive nation that implies pretty much a default victory for CSA. Its like someone ignoring a war simply because they don't want to bother with it.
  7. The Imperium would like to extend a reassurance in both counts. We intend to construct several surface structures which are much like modern offshore oil rigs. Below them will be a series of pipes that will be used to draw water from the bottom of the ocean. The water will be split using electrolysis the energy for which will provided by an on site solar array; the needed hydrogen will be pressurized and piped to the shore where large ships will then move it back to the Imperium. This will be incredibly low impact and its contributing to a process which produces clean energy. Moreover the Imperium would like to point out that its nation uses very if any few fossil fuels with the exception of its military vehicles, air force, and navy. As for the people of the region we intend to treaty them as subjects of the Imperium are, much like those in the Imperium's other viceroyalty. There will be considerable public works investments in the region, stabilizing law enforcement, and an economic environment that will cause local business to flourish and the standard of living to be raised. We hope and will continue to try to prove to you that we are not a negative force; and that we have the utmost respect for the sovereignty of every nation both to exist and do as it pleases so long as it does not violate the laws of the world or the welfare of other nations. With this in mind we have crafted our claim to have as little an impact upon your nation or others in the region as possible.
  8. The Imperium welcomes its new neighbor and looks forward to a long standing friendship. Moreover the Imperium has worked out a treaty with its new ally. A copy of the treaty has been faxed to the nations of the world.
  9. Michael Devereaux peered out of one the wall sized windows which made up the northern wall of his penthouse office, he looked down upon the domed city of New Zurich below, an assistant entered his office. "Sir the Osiris images and intel from the somalia conflict just came in. "Good, leave it on my desk I'll have a look at them in a moment." Strolling across the room he picked up the flash drive and inserted into his laptop computer. Pressing a few buttons on his desk the window he had just been observing from became opaque and became a massive computer monitor. Immediately a few images and videos came up detailing the strategies used by the USC against the guerrillas. Ever since his lunch with their premier he had become quite intrigued by their military. He couldn't say he felt entirely comfortable with conflict this close to home, and he did feel slightly guilty for not acting on Somalia sooner. He looked forward to observing the continued activity of his possible future ally in Africa, and he hoped his own laissez faire attitude towards the USC's ambitions would grant him a similar indifference in his Indonesian activities. OOC: classified.
  10. The Imperium looks forward to a longterm relationship with our friends in Ardoria. OOC: First treaty in all of CNRPR .
  11. A contingent of Naval and Air forces as well as a force of one hundred and fifty thousand soldiers has arrived to ensure a safe and stable transition. The withdrawl of fifty to eighty thousand is expected in the following days.
  12. Shhhh don't say that, but yes I suppose it is fair to give them time to look at the thread. Normally you update the map only a few times a day so I figured I'd just get it in quickly. EDIT: If it remains without objection by mid-day tomorrow do you figure that would be long enough to wait?
  13. http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=49423 Please mark the green and circled area in the map below "Imperium Viceroyalty" and leave it white. Thanks.
  14. As some are aware a significant portion of the Imperium's energy needs are filled with the use of fusion technology, this process requires deuterium a form of hydrogen. Unfortunately this form of hydrogen is only found naturally in deep sections of the oceans, very readily in trenches where it is bound up in the water molecules. While a few of the the Imperium's corporations have access to some of these overseas we worry that in a time of war or conflict the supply of deuterium may be interrupted. Therefore we feel it is necessary to claim a small portion of the trench as well as a section of the Indonesian island Sumatra as a base of operations for construction in the trench, and shipment of the deuterium. We do not wish to disrupt local activities so we are not claiming any waters on the eastern side of the island, and simply will enforce our land claims. This will be organized into a viceroyalty, Mathew Kaine has been appointed as its Viceroy. Claims marked in green, and circled.
  15. OOC: Well the solar stuff, is completely possible within today's technology its only market share, political corruption and expense that stands in the way. Rect-antennas have been tested and are capable of trasnfering energy from space to the earth using low energy microwaves with a very high efficiency rating; lasers are proven methods of energy transfer as well. Solar cells exist, as well as rocket technology. For a country with vast natural resources, material wealth, and a willing absolute state a space based solar array should be completely possible. Just because it is a different sort of society doesn't make it any less realistic. As for fusion energy, the theories behind fusion are present and present nations have massive government projects (specifically the US), making it reasonable to assume that they could at some point in the near future achieve their goal. If you want I could explain the process which I have based on existing projects; its not like im just RPing it out of no where. Additionally its really giving me no strategic advantage its not like I am RP'ing a black hole bomb which destroys the planet, space based energy weapons, or impenetrable shields, its just used to make an interesting storyline. You said your main problem with future tech was that people focus on how it is supposed to work making pointing out flaws difficult; however this only becomes an issue in stratigic technologies as it would be the only time when a certain activity might threaten another player. This is really no diffrent than me RPing a large population, a huge farming project, or the building of a monument; it has no effect on the game beyond being a cool concept. If you would like to rule against me being able to apply it strategically I think that would be completely fair. That said I do respectfully request you recall the ruling. IC: Sipping a glass of expensive wine Devereaux replied, "I would be very much interested in seeing a demonstration of your forces, as well as moving forward with some sort of military and economic cooperation treaty. Moreover as long as the use of each others airfields and ports for military purposes is a mutual agreement then I am quite interested in that as well. As for your robotics industries our nation may be interested in purchasing some of the systems, though I must insist our domestic corporations continue to be the only ones directly handling the nation's resources." OOC: Edit: The RP has been adjusted to fit the ruling triyun made as well as our own discussion on IRC.
  16. The Imperium welcomes and recognizes this new beachhead of statism and capitalism. We hope that you will also adopt macintyrian managerial policies, and choose a nondemocratic form of a government . The Imperium is also somewhat curious as to how the term confederacy which signifies a form of state, and anarchism are philosophically consistent.
  17. Its a *10 multiplier. So if you have 57,000 in game you have 570,000 in RP.
  18. OOC: Is that a complete map? IC: "The Imperium has had a similar policy under consideration for some time, Africa has long been a vast yet unattainable resource. The shape that the European powers left it in after departing is much to blame. Though due to our present activity in the northern region (turkey) we felt it would only add an undertone of imperialism to our name. We welcome your proposition; though we wonder if you intend to make those regions a permanent addition to your nations territory? In either case as long as the soldiers do not impede on our boarders, and your nation continues to respect our laws we have no issue with this. As for your other point of technology sharing (Your human capital part.), we presently have some highly financed national laboratories working on a series of projects. I would be in favor of us setting up some sort of scientific commission in which non-critical defense technologies as well as other areas of scientific study could be shared. That said we are a bit wary of any outsider having an intimate knowledge of our defensive web, and would probably like to reserve the final decisions such as where things ought to be placed for our own engineers and specialists. I am sure you can understand that? That said I have a bit of a proposition myself. A few months ago one of your neighbors, the New Ming Empire attempted what we both know was a self interested acquisition of territory under the guise of crushing a terrorist organization. Your nation sought to halt that activity and rather bravely did so. Considering your propositions I think our nations share certain strategic, and ideological interests at the very least we are potent nations with similar governments, and what will soon be neighboring territory. The stability and security of our nations has become a mutual concern, and I think perhaps we should start discussing the possibility of an MDoAP. I don't think we ought to tie each other to our own aggressive activities around the world at least for now, but I definitely think we ought to be looking to the security of one another. Perhaps we could even roll this entire deal into one large agreement?"
  19. I guess this got buried in the other thread, you asked if I would post a specific color. Thanks .

  21. Don't worry about it, there is plenty to go around, and its not like there are not others with large pieces of land. You should see the new map .
