  1. It certainly is interesting indeed.

NPO has always been "the one to hate".

I used to watch in GWII (Legion wasnt involved) Ivan's, Dilbers, Zhadums, President Pierce, everyone I could think of and get a bit of glee as their nations were destroyed.

Then I realized that this is exactly what makes the game fun, watching the destruction. Really lets be honest this game is boring, without war things are no fun. I hope that this war does not see the disbandment of NPO or another long term resistance (since i think NPO wouldnt disband). But lets get the curbstomping dynamcis out.

The other thing is to those not in NPO it is a different culture than anywhere I have been before, I mean honestly how many other alliances have even gone ahead and made their flags into rl ones?

  2. I agree with most of your post. Regrettably Gunner was in midterms and not able to stand his post as MoD during GWIII. Atlas and a few others scrambled to put in. I believe it was you and another member who were mere centurions who launched the attacks. I had taken two days off to help, but was unable to take the third day, as VL kept putting it off...hence the rush by GOONS and FAN in IRC ridiculing us for not entering the frey while our allies were being weakened.

VL kept us from GWII and delayed GWIII as I recall. Those were horrible mistakes. His intentions were good, but his leadership decisions hurt not only ourselves but our allies.

I would add that from my understanding ODN was urging us to stay out of GWII.

Regardless, the Legion of old is no where what it is now for many reasons. Although the people have my respect...mainly the ones that were there when I was, the alliance is nothing like what it was. If it were, it would have chose a different path. Albeit this is honorable. I didn't realize how close they had come to NPO since they were ruled by them.

The puppet argument may be more true now than during the UJW. That saddens me, as it means Legion has lost all relativity to its history...which is a great one.

Chal while I respect you. I do not think the Legion has become a puppet. We try and keep an active embassy with the legion. We spend time in their forums, we spend time on the IRC. It is not like we go in and say Hey we are going to war we want you now. To be completely honest I didnt know they were joining until they actually announced and I know that is the case for quite a few other former legion members.

One could say that if Legion maintained its disdain for the NPO it would serve them well in this war. That is not how the new Legion should have existed. There is basically no one there from GWI so why should they keep that disdain. If you have someone that is constantly insulting you, you can a) ignore it, B) Punch them or c) try and talk to them. And in that regard this legion is the same as old, they choose to use words.

Chal you have always been a good friend.

  3. Well I will make a reappearance into this thread after my insanely stupid mistype of page 2 (Ill keep it there since I am know for mistypes Rooster anyone?). First off to the person that said VL was a bad leader, he was one of the best (also he was the PM during GWIII and GunneR was MoD).

It is incredible the smear that has taken place.

The 'old' Legion is smeared by NPO for years over GWI and yet there was still a ton of people that lived within the legion despite that malice. That is the way the legion has always been people showing malice towards it.

When I was there all I wanted to do was show the legion was no pushover and I think we did that in UJW despite being called puppets. Yah okay you might be able to be called us puppets but at the time there was only one person that showed us compassion and that was ES. Go Figure. Although I will leave the story telling to Swampy as he is far better than I and self centered than I.

Rak, while i respect you and still do, you made the decisions you did (as did I) and to say that the legion doesnt deserve to be here is false. Still to this day I believe that it was necessary to disband, in that a lot of the "old guard" had to leave or we would have been completely rolled.

Legion I have always respected the way you are, you know that. I dont care if you sat out, fought on the side of Karma or whatever. You are a great alliance, new and old. Just because you choose to bear the name of the past is why you catch this flack.

I think this is a great testament to the planet of bob. The Legion, the alliance that has taken probably more hardships from the NPO has come to fight for it (yes FAN also). Many say this is a suicide mission so that doesnt make the legion opportunistic, they knew the odds coming in, have still chosen to fight.

Keep trolling trolls, I know it is easy to do and I know it gives you a high, I have been there. But if your malice is really directed at NPO then keep it directed there not at someone who is upholding an agreement. You search for a new CN then I can think of no greater CN where the legion can finally live without being constantly trolled.

  4. Alright so lets look at this way

    1. Viceroy, First off I dont think generally people would accept this within NPO and it seems quite a few people outside dont like this either.

    2. Disbandment or "trimming", first off disbandment should be determined by those in power not by an outside influence. Then all of a sudden you have 900 or so people (quite possibly bitter) that they were forced from their homes. Now if they are forced to join other alliances, this game has a high enough turnover for most elected alliances someone could gain power in 6 months and go seeking revenge.

    3. Reps, I understand

    4. Removal of Revenge Doctrine, I see this as interesting because even when I was outside NPO I enjoyed it because it was a pact to defend anyone on the red sphere and generally that meant just flexing a little bit of muscle and saying please dont attack in the red sphere providing a safe place for anyone looking for a large trading sphere.

    5. Admitting loss in GWI, Would this really be needed this is really just to stroke peoples egos. Heck I was in Legion and I had 0 to do with GWI yet I was part of a govt. that apologized for it.

It is interesting how many people wish to blame the NPO for being war mongering and "keeping the little guy down" yet I have been there for 5 months and outside of this war the only war that has happened (other than ongoing PAX and FAN) was Jarheads. I mean NPO could have destroyed GATO and Legion at really any point in the last 2 years but they are still living.

And btw I did fight FAN in GWIII and you guys were really nice and since I was not in NPO at the time I cant really comment on much other than from the outside looking in you guys are probably one of my fav alliances out there, and had not been for me not sharing the rl love of guns that you guys do I probably would have joined.

I for one think that if FAN is free after this then all the better, people deserve a second chance.

People in the NPO may see this as a betrayal but I dont mind, if I am Zi'd either way so be it. I am not going to abandon the NPO as it comes under fire because that is not who I am. I will not leave while friends stay and be hunted down. I fight for my friends and it so happens they call NPO home, so in that regard I fight for the NPO.

    -MAX

PS For the person that suggested the nuclear restraint, It has already been done It was called "For the love of god please think of the children" however in GWIII many people pulled out of it. Lord Swampy tried to renew it but alliances werent interested.

  5. Raj

    Are you refering to

    QUOTE (PieMan @ Aug 11 2008, 09:54 PM) *

Prove that they knew about Chickenzillas nation being Chickenzilla.

    proof = we're bigger.

This is why it's important to travel and try new things. It gives you perspective.

Doitzel this is my CN history

Legion -> MCXA -> EDEN (formed) -> NPO

  6. and This is what I am referring too. The third quote reply on the linked post.

I do not see the commonality of the 2 situations. I am merely saying if someone has proof of NPO committing OOC attacks, I will leave the alliance and surrender period. I was merely gauging whether anyone would state the same thing about their alliances

  7. Erhm.. NPO didn't you support your allies in GGA and Valhalla for doing the same thing?

I personally asked many times for proof in the Hyperion war ( I was govt. of SOLID), and all I was given was links to the stat screens of NPO, GGA, and Valhalla.

I hate to join the band waggon, but this screams karma.

This is what I am refering to, this is the 3rd post of page 27

    Post

I stand by this, so if someone can show me significant OOC attacks from this war then I stand by my statement

  8. Its sad that you buy into that lie.

Vox is on yellow after they got bored taking red senate a few times.

Vox more than likely wouldnt be able to take seats now. Vox was determined while others were just lazy, if you notice due to the game changes senate voting has just shot up massively. Although if Vox had a mass migration then yes they could take a seat, but it is substantially harder to maintain 3 than gain just 1.

  9. Ah... I won't name any names off hand, but I'd imagine that when we all wake up tomorrow it will be revealed. Suspense is a fine part of theatre, you see...

I will give you a hint, since you are a man of logic who happens to think fairly enough, although it will seem to just be a reiteration of what others have said recently... Ditch the sinking ship. :)

My comment was made to Orkules in regards to how we are apparently throwing TORN under the bus stating a fact of a DoW being after war declarations. I challenged to find 1 TORN member that felt NPO (as in LoD or myself since we seem to be the ones discussing it) were throwing them under the bus because of those comments.

As for sinking ship, I dont run from war and if this indeed a sinking ship then I will stick around to make sure everyone gets a life vest.

  10. How did NPO receive the intel that Seth had been talking to Demeanor?

Well since I am one of the 2 NPO members that are on damage control, as I have been portrayed oddly enough.

I will say that I do not know that information, you have just as much of a guess as mine. Of course our biases may lay in different camps, thus leading to differing conclusions.

  11. Alright since I am fair and a man of logic.

Please give me 1 member of TORN that thinks we are tossing them under the bus. Then we can say your point is justified until then I will ask my fellow pacificans just re-iterate this point.

    Edit:

I will clarify this post, and give context, in this discussion you will find that it was primarly LoD and I talking. And the point was brought up we(LoD and I) threw TORN under the bus stating their DoW was late and I was asking for someone from TORN to say that in that regard.

You can read it however you want, and yes given that I didnt clarify in my initial post it didnt sound like it. You can believe me or not it does not matter, I know people are going to think NPO has thrown them under the bus (that is always the case in every war, and alliances in general).

  12. Tossing TORN under the bus seems to be the hot trend from NPO.

Good job supporting your allies there, bucko.

How is saying we dont know the circumstances that caused something, throwing someone under the bus? I have been having far too much conversation in this thread to read his thread. And had I not been on IRC at the time I probably wouldnt have known about Moos net problems. I cant speak for bigwoody or his fine alliance, I am not going to attempt to make an excuse for them that is quite probably false because that is not what allies do, they do not commit each other to lies.

Also really what difference does it make had the DoW been on time.

Here is my thinking there would have been an extra 30 min, of Finally the time has come etc.

No one would have counter attacked because it would have been relative suicide and if your alliance depends on an actual dow to recognize the start of the war then there is other problems.

So really all the dow being late did was cut back on the amount of flames there were ultimately probably increased the chances of the threads still being open and not locked like a lot of dows should be once flames ramp up as hot as they do.

  13. There doesn't seem to be a plausible explanation for anything you've done tonight, to be honest.

As far as zingers go, I give you credit on this one. That is one thing I have always respected about you, is you are composed and quick witted.

Oh, yeah, give me one good reason why you would declare on that 56 person alliance when you where still in mediated negotiations with them.

As stated in my post before this, I am just a regular member there is much I dont know, and as such I cant speak or reason for Moo

At least now they're only trying to excuse being late...

Let me know when you are responsible for posting all announcements for the largest alliance. This statement seems to be that of an average person within real life screaming that they can do a better job at everything than an elected official, because they choose to criticize ever little move they do. Your comment on the timing of such is something that I choose to deal with since it was constantly being brought up, instead of discussing things that were of greater interest to me. Now that conversations have slowed down other than the constant "time to die NPO" I choose to discuss it.

I treat you with respect if you treat me with respect. I do not play a different character in game than that I do of real life and as a result I have been able to make a great many real friends from this.
