More Polish Problems

The two armored companies wold walk into a very interesting situation. Namely, a running battle between White Army forces and Sixth of June militias who were backed up by Belorussian helicopters. It wasn't a particularly large fight, only a few dozen on either side. Even if the Maltese opted to get involved, it was unlikely that it would slow them down much.

The 30 mm auto-cannons of the Puma APCs would spit out a torrent of fire that included armor piecing rounds and shortly there after anti-personnel rounds. The fire would be directed at the White Army troops. The two armored companies would stay just long enough to ensure that the White Army terrorists had their capacity to report the passing of Maltese Armored vehicles removed. Once it seemed apparent this had been accomplished, the Pumas and the Infantrymen carried inside would continue on in their approach of the Paratrooper's battle scene from the opposite direction of the Paratrooper's initial advance.

Meanwhile, at the site of the next ambush, the Polish artillery would open fire on the incoming paratroopers and armor. They hadn't been expecting such a large force, and it would most likely end in another disaster.

Given the Paratroopers had returned to Clown Show via the way they had came, the artillery wouldn't trouble them much at all. Fortunately for the Polish, Maltese eyes happened to be diverted elsewhere at that exact moment. Meaning, somehow with everything they had in the air, they didn't notice a group of artillery firing or artillery rounds falling. A possible lucky turn of events for the Polish.

Mbembe would find out quite a bit from his Polish captives. He would find out the locations of White Army hideouts in the area, and the locations of some of their heavy weaponry. He would also find out about the situation withing the Army. The Whites had managed to stabilize their situation over the past few weeks, but the latest fight would no doubt put them on the back foot again.

The Maltese Air Force high altitude recon plane in the area would be sent to get highly detailed photographs of these locations. Satellite would take thermal images and drones would be sent in the night to keep watch on these sites. Within 24 hours, the sites that have been designated as permissible targets due to not being surrounded with civilians would be attacked. These attacks would come from the B-1 Lancer Bombers on station outside of Poland that would fire cruise missiles to destroy the Polish positions. Other targets deemed to risky to attack by air due to civilians would have an Order of St. George Special Forces team pay them a visit in the late hours of the night via helicopter insertion.

These helicopter insertions would be escorted by Tiger HAD helicopters and would be high speed attacks. The purpose wasn't to eliminate civilian casualties but more so to attempt to reduce them. The other goal was to attempt to capture heavy Polish vehicles, most desired are APCs and tanks for the purpose of another scheme Mbembe has cooked up. When on the ground the Order attack teams would eliminate Polish resistance and an Armored Platoon would arrive to support them as they secured the Polish equipment and intelligence. A few small cases of weapons would be left behind with RFID tags secreted in them with the hopes the Polish would take them to their other hides.

That is of course if the Order teams manage to complete their missions.

The Poles fighting the Sixth of June forces would be killed off relatively easily, due to their lack of heavy equipment.

The Maltese cruise missile attacks would be successful in eliminating most of their targets. The Maltese special forces, however, would be faced with dozens of Polish troops, who had gone into a state of heightened alert due to the missile strikes. These troops would open fire. Once again, their lack of night vision goggles made them as much of a threat to themselves as the Maltese were. A handful of them would fire some RPG rounds at the Maltese helicopters as they dropped their troops off.

The Maltese troops would discover about a dozen BTR-60 APCs, five ASU-85 self-propelled guns, and a T-64 tank. The rest of the heavy equipment had been destroyed in earlier battles or by the Maltese strikes.

The Poles participating in the ambush would be very surprised at their luck, and would go home. Unfortunately, that home no longer existed, due to the Maltese strikes. If they were unfortunate enough to stumble across any Maltese troops that were heading towards or returning from the raid, they would open fire.

Classified Internal Memo to the President

Intelligence assets within Poland have successfully discovered the location of White Army General Stanislaw Lem.  He is believed to be in a safe house in Bialystok. Five Mi-8 transport helicopters carrying Spetsnaz troops and one Mi-24 assault helicopter have been dispatched in an attempt to capture the General. Lem is the current commander in chief of the White Army, and his capture and trial could very well lead to a complete collapse of resistance in Poland.

The ongoing patrols are ordered to return to Operation Clown Show. With them they bring the captured vehicles and materials. Sadly, the attacks by the Order Special Forces teams had not gone without losses. Three of the four Air Assaults went nearly flawlessly with four men wounded and one man killed for a return of several dozen eliminated Polish terrorists. The fourth air attack had turned into a complete nightmare than resulted with half the team killed and wounded, a helicopter shot down with its entire crew killed, several more aircrew wounded on other helicopters, and a Puma APC destroyed with its crew and Infantry killed and wounded. It was a costly mission but in the end it had paid off handsomely in with detailed information and materials for the next part of Colonel Mbembe's subterfuge.

A few days before, a coded request was sent to Malta for the eyes of the Order of St. George Lord Jebbidiah Denard. Denard, a cripple who used his significant intellectual capabilities to resolve tricky problems for the Order and Malta replied with a single phrase. 'Trojan Horse' was all Mbembe needed to know and he grunted with affirmation as he sent off several more coded messages to Malta. Before long, four men wearing nondescript uniforms arrived at Firebase Clown Show. They were given quarters off to the side and a guard was posted to keep prying eyes away from them. A day later three dozen more men arrived and were escorted under guard to the same part of the base.

The rumor mill was churning at full capacity and the majority of them indicated the men were part of the elite Malta Defense Force hunter-killer group code named Bravo Alpha. They had a less formal name as well but not one ever spoken to their faces. Truth be told, only two of the men came from the ranks of Bravo-Alpha, the rest came from various Special Forces groups and all had the same unique trait of being highly proficient speakers of Polish. In fact, it could be said they speak Polish like native Poles. Which was not uncommon in Special Forces groups and various Black Operations groups to have men and women capable of speaking 2nd and 3rd languages at an native level.

These forty men about wiped out the Maltese ranks of trained soldiers who spoke Polish at the required level. Their task though would require them to be able to pass themselves off as natives for a very specific role. Dozens of bodies of killed soldiers had been collected. The forty men would be dressed in White Army uniforms and put in the captured White Army vehicles. A video would then be made of them marauding their way through a village with all the usual sites of rape, murder, and pillaging taking place. The forty Polish speakers had been supplemented by a number of Belorussian speakers as well. The final scene of the video showed a Polish grandfather placing himself between the muzzles of the White Army's guns and a pair of young Polish girls who appeared to be no more than 10 years old. The ending scene would show the Polish grandfather damning the White Army for being terrible Poles. Before he was murdered and the girls led off to be 'raped' the 'killer' would explain the White Army was going to kill anyone who stood against them in anyway. The last image on the video was the entire group of 'Poles' marching off with the village burning in the background as the Polish national anthem playing as the men joked and laughed about how many women they raped and men they murdered.

The entire video was filmed with phone cameras, spliced together on a laptop, taken to a remote location by an Order Special Forces team, and uploaded via a wifi signal that had not been properly protected. As soon as it was uploaded the men and women brought in from Malta were returned via a waiting C-4B Galaxy Transport plane that took them all out in a single flight. The vehicles used were repainted, the uniforms burnt, and the village that was already abandoned before being turned into a film set blown to pieces by a sustained bombardment of 155 mm fire.

The movement of the 'Poles' and 'Belorussians' for the entire event would be masked by outgoing planes, flares, and sweeps of the 1st of the 1st using company sized detachments to draw prying eyes well away from the scene of the filming by driving at full speed and firing at anything that looked armed. Helicopter insertions would be sent as well in the opposite direction using maximum visibility movements without actually landing any men, just helicopters swooping in, landing, firing off a few rounds, and then living off again leaving clouds of flares in their wake. Empty fields near the scene of the filming would be taken under mortar and 155 fire to drive anyone near them to cover and away from the area. LUH-73 helicopters would be sent through out the region with their speakers encouraging people to stay indoors for the rest of the night due to reports of roving gangs of terrorists attacking civilians.

Even if they were spotted, everyone was wearing local clothing, White Army uniforms, and White Army vehicles. The chances of it being tied to Malta are seen as slim to none.

The Belorussian helicopters hurtled over the heart of the White Army. Their plan was relatively simple: Land the troops near the safe house, capture Lem, and get out. Unfortunately, these things didn't always go to plan.

Vladimir Dashkevich sat in one of those helicopters. The pilot called out "Five minutes to the target."

RPG rounds whizzed by the helicopters, as the Poles tried to shoot them down from the rooftops. Suddenly, the entire helicopter spun around, shuddering violently. The pilot screamed into the radio "This is Ghost Five, we're hit!!!"

The helicopter would crash into the streets. The pilot would be killed, and the surviving Spetsnaz would take cover in the rubble and return fire at nearby Polish fighters. Another helicopter would be crippled by an RPG hit and would be forced to land near the first crash site. A third helicopter would be shot down elsewhere in the city.

The Belorussian military would begin Operation Epic Lulz. Hundreds of Spetsnaz troops would be airlifted to Uranium mines and storage facilities in the Ukraine with orders to take control of existing Uranium stockpiles there. The point of this operation is to prevent Uranium from falling into the hands of the nearby White Army. The stockpiles will be sent back to Belarus for peaceful stuff. The Spetsnaz will withdraw once the operation is complete. Great care would be taken to ensure that outside parties would not be able to easily detect the movements.

There is an estimated 2 million pounds of Uranium in the Ukraine, and it is uncertain as to whether Belarus will be able to secure it all.

Losses in manpower and equipment had become alarming to the Malta Defense Force General Staff. They took their concerns to the King and were told to be quiet and do their duties. Suitably motivated by threat of being thrown in the Mediterranean and told to swim to the destination of their choice, they go back to work. Before long men and machines are arriving at Firebase Clown Show. Replacements for injured and killed soldiers, new Puma APCs, 12 M1A2 MBTs, four MLRS vehicles, and helicopters. Food, fuel, and munitions flow in as well as the C-4B aircraft carve pathways in the sky from Malta to Poland.

Tents, cots, blankets, and other materials were already being massed at Clown Show as well. Off to the distance in a unpopulated area the Engineers bulldozers, sourced locally, had ripped through a twenty acre section of brush and trees. Before long there was a large field with smoldering piles of burning brush being tended by the Engineers. Gravel, sourced locally, is dumped by the ton to create roads. Wooden pilings, made from trees cut down to clear the field, have one end treated with creosote before being planted in the ground. Once four of them are arranged in a rectangular fashion, planks are nailed to them in a manner that creates a sturdy platform. On these platforms go large tents. In these tents go cots and under the cots large trunks. In the trunks are blankets, pillows, plate, fork, knife, spoon, and a water bottle.

Mess tents, classrooms stocked with books written in Polish, clinics, laundry center, bathing facilities, and even a large outdoor theater were in the process of going up. The purpose being the inhabitants ought not to feel as if their lives are completely lost. With this consideration in mind, money and materials are on hand to fund local small scale industrial projects with bids to be provided for supplying the needs of the Malta Defense Force units in Poland with a variety of small items necessary for their comfort. It is hoped these facilities and these industrial projects will keep the inhabitants busy and occupied in a positive fashion along with these sites and locations serving as a morale booster for a population that really doesn't have a whole lot to cheer about of late.

As the camp was going up,  the Malta Defense Force 21st Infantry Regiment (reserve) were ordered in to defend the camp. 3200 Maltese soldiers with an attached reinforced Services and Support Battalion of 1200 men were rushing to descend on the camp and were busy with the process of taking up positions to place themselves between the civilians that will be housed in it and the White Army. With the 21st Infantry Regiment will come vehicles equipped with Skysweeper Air Defense pods, a Patriot Air Defense Battery, and a Mobile Surgical Company. This will bring the total commitment to the refugee camp up to 5000 men and women. To supply them a dedicated daily supply run is organized from Malta to the air field housing to 555th Belarus and from there to the camp via a newly rotated in unit of Chinook helicopters.

The faked video created by Malta(not that anyone knew that it was faked) would quickly spread across the government owned social network. From there, it would spread into the Ukraine and Belorussian held areas of Poland. Outrage at the White Army would grow.

Meanwhile, the Polish forces who had been planning to ambush the Maltese would find themselves back at their now destroyed base. They would pick up the weapons left behind by the Maltese, not knowing that they had RFID tags. They would then set up a temporary camp a few miles to the west of their old base.

As soon as they set up camp a high flying F-18 would drop four cluster bombs. The weapons aren't the usual clusterbombs designed to wipe out soft skinned vehicles, these are designed to be man killers. The rain of high velocity steel isn't deadly enough to destroy vehicles. Just as soon as the clusterbombs erupt a four helicopter group of Tiger HAD helicopters would scream in a low level and begin servicing any surviving Polish terrorists whilst being somewhat careful to not destroy vehicles. As this happens a pair of UH-60 helicopters would descend and deploy two squads of Paratroopers who would move into engage what is left and secure the material that remains.

The Poles would be caught completely by surprise by the Maltese attack. Most of them would be killed by the cluster bombs, but about 20 of them would survive to engage the Maltese soldiers. Five of the nine Su-76s would survive the attack. The crews of three of them would manage to get into their vehicles and open fire on the Maltese, and the surviving Poles, at near point-blank range.

Cutting lose at point blank range with an antique of a self-propelled gun didn't quite have the expected impact. In fact, it probably had more of an averse affect on the Poles than it did on the Maltese given the Polish survivors were between the vehicle and the Maltese Paratroopers. Either way, with the Maltese would rip through the surviving Polish terrorists and use a smoke grenade to flush out the Poles inside of the vehicle. Once they were on the ground and handcuffed  and blindfolded they'd have an RFID tag planted on them, without them knowing, and then told, "Get lost, we don't have the facilities to hold you." They would then be set free after being escorted away a short distance.

The field is policed and the vehicles, even the damaged ones, taken back to Firebase Clown Show that is now home to a rather large collection of Polish antique vehicles. The four wounded Maltese Paratroopers are sent to the hospital and the one dead has his remains quietly returned to Malta.

The Maltese wouldn't find much from the RFID tags they planted, as the Poles would decide they had had enough of the war business and would go home.

Meanwhile, the Maltese camp would begin attracting a large number of Poles and Belorussians who had been living in Poland and had had their livelihoods destroyed by the war. The camps would also begin attracting White Army spies and recruiters.

The Polish and Belorussians would be carefully searched before being allowed into the camp. All weapons would be removed. They would then be herded into showering facilities, deloused, given clean clothing, and taken for a medical exam. During the exam they'd be photographed, fingerprinted, and a dna sample taken. After this, they'd be taken in front of a overworked Maltese Intelligence Officer who would both offer the person a chance to identify themselves as a former or current White Army soldier and be given a pardon if they haven't committed any acts against civilians. If they do not come forward, they'll be advised of the best possible way to keep Maltese authorities informed if any of White Army types make themselves known  After a battery of injections, designed to bring their inoculations up to date and to give them vitamin shots, they'd be taken to a tent to settle in. Community Affairs Officers from the Services and Support Battalion assigned to the 21st Regiment would being to meet with the new arrivals in groups to brief them on how the camp is organized and the daily schedule.

There is worry of infiltrators sneaking their way into the camp, but until they make themselves known, it'll be difficult to identify them. Until then it is hoped that the recent outrages posted on Bobtube would sway the Polish refugees into identifying those infiltrators to the Maltese authorities.

Telling a crowd of Poles that they were being taken to the camp showers wasn't the best idea, considering the country's WWII history. More than one panic would result due to this.

There would be a number of White Army defectors, people who had joined in order to escape Eastern Poland's brutal poverty, only realize that genocide wasn't really their thing. A handful of these would actually be from the ambush team that the Maltese had just taken apart. A number of the White Army recruiters would also end up being turned in by the other refugees.

Unfortunately for the Maltese, the White Army command would have one of its rare moments of possible tactical genius. White Army suicide bombers would begin to pay visits to the camp. When the Maltese attempted to search them just before they entered the camp, they would set off their bombs. Similar attacks would begin to occur at Belorussian run refugee camps.

The commander of the camp would look at the torn bodies and sigh with frustration. The security measures limited the majority of the damage to the civilians, which frustrated him greatly. He was also somewhat irritated at his oversight with the showers, it was incredibly culturally insensitive on his part. To that end he gets a dozen unarmed and uniformed Maltese volunteers to enter the showers with each group to demonstrate that they too would get a shower. The suicide bombers and the aftermath were recorded and the videos put on the internet by an organized team of Polish volunteers. If the White Army insisted on giving the Maltese more nails to drive into their coffin, they certainly weren't going to stop them from doing so beyond increasing and changing security measures to include a remote sensor station that each arriving refugee had to walk through that gave them a full body scan well away from the entrance of the camp.

The defectors are taken to another part of the camp, debriefed, and given an opportunity. They can stay in Poland or seek a rare chance to live abroad serving in the Order of St. George in Malta. The training would be hard, it would even be fatal in a few cases, but once completed they'd be highly trained fighting men serving an Order with a long storied history steeped in the tradition of the Catholic church.

Those who agree are immediately transported to Malta via plane and sent to the Order's Induction center. Not all would pass the Order training, those who didn't weren't completely out of luck, the Malta Defense Force Corp of Engineers always has a need for skilled labor and vehicle operators. They'd be given a chance to do a much less rigorous training program and 10 year contract with the MDF Corp of Engineers, though at a far lower rate of pay. Order pay scales always have been and will be much better than the MDF Corp of Engineers due to the combat related nature of the Order's activities.

Having the Maltese enter the showers first would definitely make things easier all those involved. Recruiting the ex-White Army men would be quite difficult, since they'd had their fill of war.

The remote sensor station wouldn't change much in terms of Polish tactics, as the Whites would simply detonate themselves there. However, the number of bombings would eventually begin to decrease, as there were only so many people willing to blow themselves up. The number of bombers would finally stabilize at one or two per week for the entire country. Like so many Polish attacks, these ones would continue to backfire in one way or another, and outrage and resentment against them would continue to build.

However, the Whites wanted a bigger death toll. Thus, they would begin launching RPG attacks on the remote station.

"Damn, that poor remote station is taking a beating, again," Colonel James Alessandjro commented.

"Drop the sink on them, again sir?"

"Yeah."

A volley of 120 mm mortar fire would arch out towards the eager beaver Polish RPG men. The response would be different each time. Sometimes it would be a drone, other times it would be a couple Tiger HAD gunships, occasionally they'd get a 500 pound bomb dropped on them by an F-18. The every time they blow up the remote sensor station, the Maltese would rebuild it. It probably didn't occur to the White Army to check the Maltese Army on line catalog for outdoor gear, which would have shown them the remote sensor station was actually a converted camp toilet.

As for the men who had their fill of war, they'd be told to stay out of trouble and would be allowed to remain in the camp so long as they assisted with keeping things running. They'd be put on the payroll as cooks, laborers, and in whatever skilled capacity they could fill that needed filling. They'd be paid with vouchers and have the bulk of their pay kept on the books for when they return home. They'd meet weekly with a Maltese officer who would ask them what plans they'd have for the future and their options explored in terms of finding them places in a civilian world. Training courses are investigated and established for skills training with a great number of the trainers taken from the camp population. A dozen or so other teachers are recruited from Malta to commence a on the job Paramedic course. The intention being not to release them back into Polish society angry bitter veterans with no hope for the future. The offer to allow them to join the Order of St. George is a standing one but not pushed on them, if they want to do it, they knew how to find the Order recruiter.

The Maltese counter-strikes would have little affect on the Whites, as they were only sending individual fighters to take a couple of shots before fleeing the scene. They never would figure out that they were blowing up a rejected toilet, and the repeated attacks would continue to result in a high civilian death toll. That toll would result in fewer and fewer people going to the Maltese and Belorussian camps, but more importantly, it would result in continued pressure of the White Army, which was now reaching the early stages of collapse.

However, the number of Poles accepting help from the enemy represented a major threat to the authority of the White Army. In order to further cut down on the flow, it would begin setting up IEDs near the camps. It was also hopes that Belorussian and Maltese personnel might suffer some losses from these explosives.

The videos of slain civilians at the hands of White Army terrorists would continue to go up. Meanwhile, 1st of the 1st, suitably rested from its previous exertions would commence a series of of sweeps around the camp with their Puma APCs and the M1A2 tanks. The patrols would be moving at all hours of the night and day. They would be joined by the midnight insertion of a dozen Bravo-Alpha sniper teams who specialized in insurgency work with their 438 Lapua rifles. Drones with thermal imaging cameras would flight night and day looking to catch the terrorists in the act.

So far, the camp was working as planned, while it was a somewhat cynical motive, the providing of an attractive target for the White Army ought to be doing wonders to stir up Polish resentment against them for the atrocities they were committing. If anything, the King-though somewhat sickened by the whole exercise and Colonel Mbembe-had concluded these attacks were out of sheer desperation. The sort of desperation that sickened a man who wanted to fight for his country in an honorable fashion. It was then they switched tactics using the mass of captured equipment inside Firebase Clown Show.

Trojan Horse kicked off as two dozen armored vehicles, tanks, artillery vehicles departed Clown Show at roughly five in the morning. Nearly all of the Maltese soldiers had been relocated to the Camp that was roughly two miles away by helicopter, foot, or APC. All the movement is masked in a massive pyrotechnic display in which bunkers are destroyed, a sustained artillery barrage fired that went on for over an hour, more explosions, rifle fire simulators shot off, and air strikes roaring in dropping napalm and clusterbombs on nonexistent targets.

The destroyed vehicles collected were left randomly hung up at positions all over the perimeter. The bodies of dead Polish soldiers collected were left in piles here and there and hanging in the wire. All in all evidence is provided that Firebase Clown Show was just hit and forced to evacuate under heavy pressure and with great losses. In Malta a special broadcast is made by the King announcing that great battle was underway at the Firebase and more information would be provided as it came to light. In Poland another video is made by a pair of 'Polish' soldiers announcing their victory and the intention of the  Jans Sobleski Brigade to fight on against the Maltese. The video also called upon all loyal Poles who were sick of the rape and cowardly tactics to rally to the Jans Sobleski Brigade's banner.

LUH-73 helicopters would fly over announcing a ceasefire between the Jans Sobleski Brigade and the Maltese and that everyone should remain indoors. An email blast and word of mouth via the back fence grapevine would spread the word that the Brigade was busy preparing for an all out assault on the camp and that any Pole who was a fighting man and not a sniveling coward should join up with them at the village of Blesdaw (made it up).

The White Army forces would begin to fire their weapons at the Maltese forces conducting sweeps around the camp, although its was unlikely that they would have any effect.

When the call to go to Blesdaw came, the ex-White Army soldiers would do what all war-weary, battle hardened soldiers did:Grumble a bit and look for something pointy. Once they found that, they would head off to Blesdaw, along with a large number of Poles and Belorussians. However, they weren't the only one to hear the call: White Army informers inside the camp would send a message to their commanders informing them of the location of the fell gathering. A number of the informers would go to Blesdaw, in order to gather information.

This was an opportunity for the White Army to regain face. As the Maltese and their Polish allies converged on the village, a thousand White Army fighters would move into the area. This would be the largest force the Poles had sent against their enemies, and it represented the desperation of the Whites. Once there was a good number of Maltese in the village, they would launch a massive, suicidal attack.

One last gasp for the White Army.

In Bialystok, things were going from bad to worse. White Army forces would begin to launch repeated attacks on the Belorussian survivors, in the hopes of overrunning their positions. Overhead, the Mi-24 helicopter would rain rockets and bullets on the Polish forces. The remaining Mi-8s would be withdrawn in order to prevent further losses.

Things would be equally chaotic back in Minsk, as the government desperately looked for a way to save the survivors. They couldn't send another helicopter, as it would most likely be shot down again, and there was no safe place for them land, now that the Whites were out in force. The Belorussian troops would need to be in an open area away from the streets in order for a rescue to be staged. More Mi-24 helicopters would be sent, in the hopes of finding a way for the Spetsnaz to break through the Polish army.

Two C-130s are loaded with ordinance known as MOOBs. Once loaded they are sent to take up station at high altitude with refueling support. Two more battalions of the 173rd Airborne are ordered onto the planes for their part of the oncoming engagement. They would would be dropped several miles to the north in strength and create a blocking force to cut off retreat or reinforcements in that direction. The 1st of the 1st plus M1A2 vehicles would serve as the hammer and would advance from the east. To the east and serving as the anvil would be the battalion of 173rd troops already in the country and would be deployed by helicopter. They would also be reinforced by two companies from the 21st Regiment (reserve) and several of the Bravo-Alpha sniper teams.

The south will be covered by two battalions from the 21st Regiment who will move in strength with the design of driving the Poles towards Bledsaw. They would be moving on foot, they have mortars, artillery, helicopters, and drones supporting them. They also have several sniper teams from Bravo-Alpha and the 10th Order Special Forces Team in support. While the other units would be moving at speed, the 21st Battalions have orders to make their approach a sedate one and to drive the Poles towards Bledsaw. Should the Poles turn to either the east or the west they'd run into the Paratroopers or the incoming pissed off Maltese 1st battalion of the 1st Regiment who have been itching to bring the White Army to a decisive battle for a few days now.

Artillery support includes 8 MLRS launchers, 4 self-propelled 155 mm howitzers, 12 more towed 155 howitzers, 16 120 mm mortar carriers, a dozen 105 mm howitzers attached to the 21st Regiment.  Air Support includes the 555th Air Composite Wing, the on station B-1 Lancers and 2 AC-130 Gunships, 24 Tiger HAD helicopters, and numerous Reaper and Predator drones. Logistical support will be handed by the air transport detachment of Chinooks and the combined Services and Support Battalions of the former Firebase Clown Show and the 21st Regiment (reserve). Medical support is on site with the two Mobile Surgical Companies operating at the refugee camp.

Preparations on the intelligence front would come in a few different guises. The camp would immediately notice their cellphones no longer work as jammers were turned on. Landline phones mysteriously would seem out of order as well. Drones would pay visit to regional Polish cell towers and send them a Hellfire 2. Radio stations would receive visits from armed LUH-73 helicopters who would target their towers to put them out of commission. Landline switching stations, identified by previous patrols, would get the same treatment. Communications would still be possible, just more difficult and directed towards the internet where they would be subjected to conflicting reports posted real time by the Intelligence officers and their Polish speaking assistants.

Standing rules of engagement have been changed. Offers of surrender are to be given when possible. With the war winding down, the Malta Defense Force and the King hope to limit the loss of life by giving the Poles a chance to lay down their arms. In the King's mind it is better to get them to surrender after having attempted to fight honorably than it is running them to the ground for being terrorists. With this there is some sense of redemption for these men, though a price will need to be paid for their attacking civilians. If it comes to pass that the Poles aren't willing to surrender when they are surrounded in Bledsaw, the two MOOB armed planes will finish them off.

They will be remembered in history with honor and dignity rather than with the disgrace of being a gang of thugs and criminals.

The Maltese efforts to knock out Polish communications would be quite successful. The Polish troops, trapped in the village, would only have one choice open to them: Break out and run, Hundreds of White Army soldiers would launch suicidal charges in every direction on the Maltese. The Whites would also begin to find themselves locked in combat in other areas, as their empire began to crumble.

In Bielsk, Sixth of June forces would launch a major uprising against the White Army administration.

In Bialystok, the battle between the stranded Spetsnaz and the Whites would grow to epic proportions, as Sixth of June operatives and Polish dissidents alike joined the fight against the completely discredited White Army.

Meanwhile, Belorussian troops would resume their advance into Podlaskie.

The Ukraine had a lot more Uranium in storage than Minsk had expected. Approximately 200,000 pounds more, to be precise.

At one of the storage facilities near Kiev, a Spetsnaz man would watch as trucks from Belarus loaded up with their deadly cargoes. Bored and looking for something to do, he headed over to an abandoned building near the storage facility. It appeared to be the manager's office. Rummaging through some shelves, he would find a book filled with figures and calculations. No doubt, it was some sort of logbook. Intrigues, he would take it back to the main building to read through it.

One of the truck drivers, also bored, somewhat drunk, and trying to start up a conversation, would stroll over to him.

"Watcha' got there?" he asked.

"Some logs and shit," replied the soldier. "Apparently they had ten thousand pounds of that stuff here."

The driver looked at the logs.

"That can't be right. If that were true, we'd be missing two hundred pounds."

"Perhaps you missed something."

"Nope. We just did the numbers. We're short two hundred pounds. There's no more left here. That's quite a bit of Uranium though. Enough to give any terrorist a wet dream."

The two men looked up at each other, thinking the same thing. Suddenly, neither of them was very bored.

The Maltese troops held their ranks and slowly smashed the White Army soldiers as they came at them. A number of them were captured and put into a special detainment camp. Once the rattle of fire stops, the Maltese forces return to Firebase Clown Show and start restoring it. The two additional battalions of Paratroopers are farmed out in company sized groups to larger villages to establish patrol bases there. This expands the Maltese reach in the aftermath of the Polish defeat at Bledsaw considerably as 10 company sized patrol bases go up within hours using prefabricated bunkers, razor wire, and heaps of sweat. Losses for the battle, 33 dead, 82 wounded.

The cell phone jammers would be left on at the camp, while the landlines opened up. Nothing was said to the occupants but each call box has a dedicated Polish speaking monitor listening in.

Engineering teams would immediately begin repairing the damaged communications networks under the watchful eye of the 1st of the 1st. The security zone around the camp would be pushed out another 500 meters with bulldozers. Remote sensor pods disguised as pine cones and that sort of thing would be spread liberally in the forests around the camp. Hides would be placed holding quietly waiting recon troopers with their radios to call in mortar fire on insurgents.

In Malta,

The Polish people can rest easier tonight as Operation Trojan Horse restored the honor of the Polish fighting man. The fall of Firebase Clown Show was merely a ruse to lure Polish insurgents into a set piece battle. True, they lost and lost badly, but they did so as men and not as cowardly terrorists. It is with great pleasure to announce that all Polish soldiers captured during Trojan Horse will be afforded the full rights due to them as Prisoner's of War under the Geneva Convention. While Malta is not a signatory to this document, the spirit of it will be observed carefully and the White Cross will be given access to these captives per that agreement.

The captured Polish troops would be given the same treatment that their White Army brothers had been getting. They'd be put to work in their own camp, they'd get training if they wanted it, they would visit weekly with a Maltese officer to discuss their future plans, and their income earned for work would be kept on the books for disbursement upon their release. Civilians in the camp would notice an uptick of activities and calls for more workers in the small scale industrial projects along with increases of pay. Work parties to repair roads are also being formed with higher than average rates of pay.
