Elizabeth Kinnes: Hello Ms. Valentin and Mr.Wei.Thank you for this interview.

Simone Valentin:Bonjour.

Hai Wei: Hello

Elizabeth Kinnes: Currently the Andorran situationis quickly heating up, with the Andorran peoples wanting to claim a sovereignstate. Ms. Valentin, would you mind putting this into historical perspective,of why now Andorrans are pushing for an independent state?

Simone Valentin: Well, the "Duchy" ofAndorra at its moment of conception in recent history was little more than apuppet state for the Angevin Monarchy. During the Courtois Regime it wasincorporated into France and then, when the Paris Revolution came to be,Andorra and Angevin Territories were merged into the Commune.

The idea of Andorran sovereignty is humorous atbest, because they were never sovereign to begin with, always a vassal ofeither the Angevin Monarchy or the later Courtois Regime.

Elizabeth Kinnes: Mr. Wei, you have stated that thismovement is not democratic and that it was "reactionary trickery by thewhites to gain a staging ground to launch a counter revolution." Would youmind further expounding upon these ideas?

Hai Wei: As Mme. Valentine has said, it is a lie tosay that Andorra was ever sovereign. TheFrench people voted for the Revolutionary Party, just because one area or agroup claiming to represent one area claims they don't like the outcome theyshould be able to just back up and leave? That doesn't make much sense to me. In democracy a minority must accept when they lose an election, if notwhere do you draw the line? A town, aneighborhood, a block, a family? Theycan suddenly declare themselves no longer bound by law or part of society? You need to accept the winner in democracy.

The Whites are using this as an excuse todelegitimize Mme. Valentine's government instead of respecting the results ofan election. They can then use this asan excuse to create a base for attacking the democratic regime in a counterrevolution.

Elizabeth Kinnes: On that note about the whites, would you mind explaining the racial aspects of this conflict Ms. Valentin?

Simone Valentin: Ideological Mademoiselle, ideological. We use the term "White" from the Bolshevik Revolution ofthe early 1900s. The Whites represented the Monarchy, as in France too; thecolor of the monarchical regime was white. In contrast, the Reds, symbolized bythe blood of the people, is tuned with Communism. There is nothing racial aboutthis movement.

Elizabeth Kinnes: Thank you for that clarification.

This is a question to the both of you. Do you thinkthat this conflict can be resolved peacefully? If not, how long do you think anarmed conflict will occur?

Hai Wei: Mme. you first.

Simone Valentin: So long as the Andorrans push forindependence, peace will not be achieved. That said, given their standing armyis nothing more than a fraction of the Revolutionary Army, I don't see thisconflict lasting more than a month.

Hai Wei: Our assessment of the enemy, based on whatI can share is that they aren't particularly well organized, I'd agree with theChairwoman, unless of course outsiders come in and violate French Sovereignty.

Elizabeth Kinnes: What punishments do you intend todeliver upon those who incited this movement?

Simone Valentin: I am not at liberty to discuss whattheir punishment will be, Mademoiselle.

Elizabeth Kinnes: Thankyou for this interview, it has been quite informative. I wish both your nationspeace and prosperity.

Simone Valentin: My pleasure, Mademoiselle.

Hai Wei: Have a good evening

German Ultimatum to Canada

Yesterday, it was reported that Germany issued an ultimatum to Canada in which they demanded that Canada return the Rugen, an island located in the Baltic sea, to German control. The German government stated "Canada has forty eight hours to return Rugen back to German control. Failure to respond in forty eight hours will be seen as an unwillingness to return Rugen to German control, after which we will communicate to them in another language that I'm sure they will know." [1]

So far the Canadian government has not replied to the ultimatum. However, there are those who side with Canada such as the government of Texas, which asked if there was a reason why Germany wanted the Rugen back now and stated that it was "physically impossible" for Canada to remove all its forces from the island within the given time frame.
