RAKBAT Command

Blue Line Sector

Badajoz (HQ) - Empire of Krieg

Elements of the 7th Mech. Inf. Brigade arrive in full support of the peacekeeping operations underway in Krieg. Around 5.000 regulars, supplied with 50 'Armadillo' APC's and 'Cheetah' HMMWV's, they make their move towards their deployment region in Zaragoza North. The 22nd Imperial Recce Btn has merged with these forces bringing the total number of men and equipment as follows:

5.800 regulars

200 medical personnel

50 'Armadillo APC's (M113 variant)

'Cheetah' HMMV's

2 AN-12 aircraft

Routine patrols are scheduled to begin this morning at 0400 and will continue on a regular basis for the demarcation zone we have been assigned. We urge cooperation from all sides as we work tirelessly in the maintenance of peace in Iberia.

I remind you this is my country, and I hope you respect my wishes as the Dutch did with my other battalion sent to them to use them in patrols and put them too good use. Theyre not paid to sit around, they need to be doing theyre job securing their country from attack.

We would like to caution the Krieg Empire, from exclaiming wild notions of unfairness or other untoward acts of hostility coming from Rakata. We're here to help you, and your troops are more than welcome to do their part. Indeed, it is your country, but you are not without enemies. We are here to protect the continent from a war that would be both unproductive and disastrous for everyone.

We hope you can put aside any bias you may have, and let us help you.

While the Republic of Euzkadi has been happy to see peacekeepers on the borders we will not accept the presence of NoN troops in Iberia, any of their troops landing in the Kreig Empire will be seen as a clear provocation.

The Empire made no mention of welcoming NoN troops. The operation is lead by the Dutch, and I will let them make that descion, although Im sure that they have matched the Scottish and Euzkadi in force and numbers, and does NOT intend to go any higher.

Understood, we request the Dutch clarify that NoN troops will not be allowed into Iberia.

SFOR only consists of DUTCHAT, CHIMBAT and RAKBAT and the occasional Kriegian forces put under SFOR command.

NoN is not part of the picture.

The Empire would also like to assure that no NoN Are currently within our borders, and the only NoN personel that would ever be allowed in are official foreign diplomats, and even then we would announce this.

We hereby confirm that the Garderegiment Grenadiers en Jagers has been put on standby and is currently being send to the airfield outside Rijssel (province of Flanders) for possible deployment around Badajoz HQ. Still DUTCHBAT likes to stress the importance of bringing the HQ and Medical Hospital to Salamanca as Badajoz is laying in a saillant surrounded by Scottish territory.

The Empire thought that the Dutch forces had already made this move, and has no objections, and happliy would help move the field hospital and HQ command center.

We would like to thank the Empire. Laying in a saillant like this is very dangerous move and our current positions at Salamanca and Vistahermosa will be upgraded- leaving only a company-sized unit behind.

The Garderegiment will protect Camp Holland together with the HQ and Field Hospital.

The new DUTCHBAT positions.

The Krieg Empire trusts the wisdom of our Dutch neighbors, and welcomes this new tactical reevaluation.

SFOR suffers first casualties.

While patrolling at Golpejera (just west of Salamanca) a civilian truck parked in the middle of the road with a broken engine caused the death of 1 DUTCHBAT corporal and severely injured two others as their jeep crashed into a truck that was parked around a corner.

The family of Corporal Jacob Verhoeff, 21, of the Regiment Limburgse Jagers has been notified while the other soldiers were treated and transported by local civilians to the field hospital at Vistahermosa.

The truck driver was placed under citizen arrest for negligence and is currently being handed over to local constabulary.

The Krieg Empire sends our deep condolences to the Family of late CPL Verhoeff and documents this as the first official casulty of the Kriegan Cold war since the conflict began.

The Neglegant driver faces charges numbering, with the highest being Involuntary Manslaughter for the death of the CPL. The Krieg Empire enforces STRICT Laws and such neglgence will not go unchecked. He will be given a fair trial by Jury as per his rights. However I think we can all say he wont be getting off east.

The Ministry of Public Road Saftey urges Citizens to remember to PARK or PUSH your broken vehicle to the side of the road, use appropriate road blocks which are issued free of charge, and to call for help immediately. The road markers are reflective and can greatly reduce the chances of a vehicle accidentally striking a broken vehicle.

We thank the Krieg Empire for their condolences and we will make sure those civilians that helped those involved will be compensated and rewarded for their services. This was a tragic accident that should never have happened in the first place but on missions like this anything can happen.

The families of the corporal and the other injured troops have been informed. The commanding officer of the medical troops noted quickly that for soldier 1st class Meulenaers given the nature of his injuries. a "difficult night" is to be expected

DUTCH FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PASSES SAFETY BELT LAW FOR MILITARY VEHICLES.

As of today there is no safety belt law in the United Netherlands and one of the reasons why the Dutch SFOR soldiers sustained such atrocious injuries (including one fatality) is the absence of safety belts. The government now decides that all military vehicles are to be fitted with Swedish designed three-point safety belts. Currently a similar law is in preparation which would make it mandatory for all vehicles on the road (including passenger buses) to be fitted with safety belts and make it mandatory all occupants to wear it but the legality of this law is currently being debated as it is seen by many as a "non-essential federal government intervention" and provinces state that only they have the power to pass such legislation.

Whether DUTCHBAT will fall under the new law is yet to be seen as the means or the time of equipping all military vehicles that are currently in SFOR with the new safety features are/is simply not there. In response to todays accident the Commander in Chief of SFOR, General T.J.P Karremans has reminded SFOR troops in general to "drive safely and observe all local traffic laws with the utmost precision".

RAKBAT Command Redirect

Zaragoza North - Krieg Empire

All units of the 7th Mech. Inf. Brigade and the 22nd Imp. Recce Btn are ordered to complete all current patrols, and make preperation to leave the Empire of Krieg within 48 hours. Official notice is hereby given by the Ratakan government that the peacekeeping mission in Krieg is being suspended indefinitely. The reasons are:

  • Willful contribution to the state of tensions in Iberia
  • Active participation in an aggressive war during Peacekeeping deployment

These reasons represent a dangerous trend in Krieg, and the Rakatan government does not feel comfortable maintaining peace in a land that, by it's actions, does not wish it.
