OOC: Well not a closed tag but with the General topic I doubt someone would find a way in.

IC:

(Zagreb International Airport, Phoenicia, GNR)

While in General the merge with the GNR wasn't met with heavy opposition some groups were increasingly violent as such the Imperial Family considered it too dangerous for Nadine now a 16 year old to stay. Who knew perhaps the rebels would try to kidnap her to get their plans pulled off as they wouldn't stop at anything. After much consideration the Hanseatic Commonwealth was considered the safest place for her seeing it was neutral and with her godmother as leader.

"Good luck Nadine and send my regards to Sarah"Relena said as she kissed Nadine on the cheek after which Nadine and 2 Guards entered. A letter was send by mail way in advance so there would not be any surprises.

(5 hours later)

At her own request they did not take the Hypersoar, Nadine always liked just watching through the window but even with the slower Aircraft the time would be limited. Following it's close distance to Hanseatic Airspace a mission was send requesting permission to enter and land in Brisbane.

OOC: I could think of a way into it...but only because I'm a very close ally of Sarah's. Anyway, I'll let you two get on with it.;)

OOC: hehe, well if you find a way that doesn't interfere with the Greater story I wouldn't mind

Politics came second to family, always, and while Sarah's reactions to seeing Relena apart of the Nordic Reich, were much the same actions that Relena had taken when Sarah had assumed her very brief Presidency of the Nordic Confederacy, none of that mattered when someone was in trouble or perhaps just needed so safety away from the political world for awhile. So when Sarah received Relena's letter that Nadine was going to be seeking, more of an extended vacation rather than asylum, she was overjoyed. "Its like the sons and daughters of the world are coming to live with us Jess." She said to her Chamberlain, while Vikram Rama was off on other assignments. "First Cochin, and now Relena is sending her daughter here." She smiled. "She'll be at the airport any moment now, so I'll be taking the rest of the day off."

"Very good Milady, take care." Jess said as Sarah grabbed her purse and other odds and ends and walked down towards a waiting limousine to take her to the airport where Nadine would be arriving.

There she waited on the tarmac for the plane to touch down and her goddaughter to arrive. Which she did and Sarah beamed. "Nadine, its great to see you again! How has your mother been and how are things in Phoenicia?"

As the plane descended Nadine looked through the window the last time she had been here was over a decade, somehow she was happy to no longer be in Zagreb the burden of being part of the most important family in Phoenicia especially the youngest was heavy now she could finally be herself not limited by an extensive etiquette. After Sarah had asked the questions she sighed.

"My mother is quite well though rather isolated since the merge, in Phoenicia well it has changed a few months ago one could truly feel the people when being outside but now they are divided and lost it is truly getting dangerous on the streets"

Sarah frowned at her statement and pulled her in close. She was only a little bit taller than Nadine, but it didn't stop her from becoming the mother figure for the young girl that she needed right now. "You poor thing." Sarah said massaging her head. "I'll be okay. Chaos is a natural part of political life." She looked down at her. "And I know what its like to have to leave your country when you don't want to and have to come to some place strange." She released Nadine and had her walk beside her as they headed towards the limousine parked at the end of the tarmac.

"After the Gebiv War, we didn't really have a choice but to flee. This was before you were even born though. Though not that long before. Anyhow, I and my people were coming to a new land, a strange land, we knew we had been given permission, but we didn't know if we would be welcomed or not. But we made our home in Australia and look where that has brought us. The Hansa is a global power now, something I never would have dreamed in a thousand years. So perhaps the Australian air will open your eyes like it did mine." They boarded the limousine and headed off away from the airport.

"We can take you 'home' first Nadine or head into the city. I took the day off so what ever you would like to do, I'm more than up for it."

"I think it is best if we go home first to put my stuff away, but I'd love to see Brisbane I heard it is big but still not as artificial as most cities"

"Well I'll let you make that decision on your own Nadine, but I think Brisbane is much more than just a city." She said as the limousine took to the freeway towards Solidor Manor on the outskirts of the city proper. "Brisbane is everything that I have worked for in the past years. Ever since the destruction of Helsinki, I have built it much more that when it was just an average city in New Cymru." She smiled and looked out the window at the skyscrapers in the distance. "I like to think that I've created a hub that has become the literal center of the Pacific. If I can attest to nothing else, its constructing something like that."

They pulled down the asphalt street leading up to the brick wall surrounding Solidor Manor as Hanseatic guards slowly pulled back the black gate letting the limousine slowly pull through the fine gravel covering the ground. The grass in the courtyard was nicely cut and everything in the mansion reflected the cultural order that Sarah inspired in her cities and in her country. The Hansa was a nation that held chaos back in its dark cavern, and the neo-classical design of the gardens, the house, and the courtyard reflected this. As the limousine pulled up, two Lillian Guards walked down and escorted the Lady Protector and her goddaughter into the house.

"You'll have the second guest room on the second floor hallway Nadine. You'll be next to the Crown Prince of Cochin, who is being taught diplomacy here as my Chamberlain. After you take your bags up and get a little more comfortable, we'll head out to the city itself."

Sarah waited for Nadine to change herself and then head back down to the entrance hall as they headed back out to the limousine and traveled into Brisbane proper. She wanted to spend as much time with Nadine now, because she knew that as time went on she wouldn't have the chance too with the amount of work she was going to have to do, with the political game of the world still extremely volatile she felt bad that she couldn't be there as much as Relena had been, but she was going to make sure that Nadine felt extremely welcomed where ever she went. To start of the afternoon, she took her out to the movies, where they sat up close to the screen where their necks were cracked because of the terrible seating, but humility was more important than wealth.

"When you become a leader Nadine, always remember that you are the servant of the people, not the other way around. They are always right, but you have to lead them to help them find faith in themselves. That's the true test of leadership." She said as they wandered through the Botanical Gardens while munching on a hot dog. "But what are you planning to do with your time here?"

Nadine enjoyed every moment of it especially for the first time she could remember people did not consider her the heir to the throne but just a human, even with the removal of the Imperial Family as Sovereign over Phoenicia people still treated her with the respect as if she was the next Empress. "Multiple things, learn about Hanseatic Policies and just consider my education, in addition to finally being able to be myself without 5 Guards stopping me when I would go against the 'Imperial Way'"

"That's the beauty of freedom and independence Nadine." She said as they sat on a bench overlooking the Brisbane River below. "Look at the city and all the people in it. Everyone has different ideas of what is good for a country and all of them can be beneficial to the running of the country. There should be no policy set in stone and a leader should always be willing to listen to the people she governs rather than just doing what she thinks is right. Always listen to the people Nadine, they put you in power and they can take you out of it."

Sarah chuckled as she bit down on the hot dog and forgetting her manners talked with her mouth full of food. "As to Hanseatic policies. I'll start you off with my favorite one and its one that I have followed since I resigned as President of the Nordic Confederacy. Don't trust super states, don't trust great powers. I did this when the UFE was meddling in Europe and I do it today with the Nords, the Communists, and the Dragons. Democratic or Despotic, so much power should be feared and watched carefully. That is something I want you to remember, always question authority, always."

Sarah chuckled. "Well I assure you, we barely arrived in Australia in one piece along with a whole lot of regret and it wouldn't totally shock me if it was because of my loud mouth that Germany used such excessive force against a nation that had no nuclear capabilities. But what it is Nadine is you can't have fear because someone is stronger than you are. I will never cease to stop to list my view points. I might be wrong, but I refuse to back down just because of the power of other nations. See the world is a lot like the playground. Strong kids can tell smaller kids that they need them, they build their posse and people bow down to them. But when someone equally small stands up and shows some of her muscle." Sarah rolled up her sleeve. "The same bicep that told the UFE to buzz out of Europe will tell the worlds great powers of the day the same thing. Just don't ever be scared, people will respect that, because your people normally think the same thing. Even with all the political criticism, I love nationalism and patriotism and fear is the greatest enemy of that."

"I see, but what could I possibly do? The influence of the Imperial Family isn't what it was before the Merge and the people are unhappy"Nadine said. "I admit I am afraid for what would happen if we moved against either the Comintern or GNR there are too many weapons in this world"

Sarah took Nadine by the shoulder and pulled her close. "See here's your problem, you fear made up things like ComIntern or the Greater Nordic Reich. Nadine, the beauty of a country is not in its military or its power or its ideologies. The beauty of a country is made by the hearts of the people and of the leaders. Nordland is strong because its people believe it in their hearts to be right. Or it would have collapsed a long time ago. Likewise with the Dragons. For myself I believe that they are both separating the world."

She sighed and looked out into the setting sun. "People are cold and logical today. Emotions are a sign of weakness. But that isn't true. At least not in my mind. Emotions are the signs of humanity and don't let anyone tell you differently. If you believe in something fight for it, even if it is wrong in the world's eyes. I may despise my enemies, but if they truly believe in their cause, then I have the utmost respect for them, even if they lay across the divide."

The sight was truly beautiful not only the climate but also the people everywhere she looked she saw happiness and unity while the people and Government appeared equal there was still a true respect for authorities it was something she had never seen before or heard about in her classes it was a really unique area. The place where they were was kept in good condition that was obvious from it's surroundings after a while she turned to Sarah again "This truly is a beautiful City"

"Into what Nadine? The beacon of peace." Sarah sighed. "I can assure you that I hadn't the intention from the start. Not saying that peace and pacifism wasn't always my goal. But I mean, I never intended to be a cult figure or anything. Truthfully, I was a lot like you when I first came to power. Scared, confused, unsure of myself. But I was always told to try my hardest at anything I set my heart to do. Its not so much that I'm this Valkyrie or an Angel sent by God." Sarah smiled. "Let me show you." She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small pin. Slowly she pierced her finger as the blood began to trickle down. "See, I bleed like everyone else."

"But a beacon of peace, a center of culture, is because it needs to be done. There needs to be a place for people to come and know they are safe when they step inside our borders. Brisbane is a cultural center. I like to think of the entire Pacific, but I mean that's up for debate. But what you see before you is years of my work to create a great society. A vision of liberalism and freedom." She smiled. "One day it will cover the Earth. But until then, we will enjoy it in Asia. But man, man should not need to kill each other."

And that is something I have difficulties with to believe you always look so strong even when opposing Nations that could probably destroy the Hanseatic Commonwealth multiple times if they had to it is something very respectable" When Sarah showed she could bleed to a grin appeared on her face. "Didn't expect that"she said laughing a bit.

"And yes you are right I wished this sight would be everywhere"

"Damned"she yelled louder than she wanted before turning the television off.

Sarah has been walking down the hall of the Manor when she had heard Nadine's voice coming through a closed door. Gently letting herself in, she caught the last part of the broadcast, the declaration of war from the Nordic Reich and then subsequently the Phoenix Empire against the Republic of Mariehamm. She walked over and sighed as Nadine turned the television off.

"You see how politics and power change people. Relena has a good heart, she really does. But I don't understand. She told me how disappointed she was in me after I became President of the Nords for only a few days to inspire peace and yet here she is speaking for her people about an unnecessary war. The Nords are getting worse by the day and now there is a Non-Aggression Pact between them and the Dragons. The world is getting to be a closed place." Sarah looked down and knelt down next to where Nadine was sitting. "I'm afraid I can't let you go back home until this war is at least over. Things have to change first, its too dangerous. I hope you understand."

After the Announcement came Nadine immediately ordered her Guards to get her stuff and prepare the Diplomatic Jet she couldn't stay here any longer as her people would burn she didn't even consider going to Sarah as the Guards now Armed with Assault Rifles escorted her to the door.
