Kaiser Martens

Recommended Posts

He takes the bottle again, to finish it. Then he takes out one of the tiny syringes from the box, which he afterwards closed. He looks at the syringe from the light, and then he walks around the table and behind her, then somewhat to her side. "There will be a few days of rather bad pain. You'll be blind for a couple of days too. In less than a week you'll recover and be stronger than ever. Your neck..." He gestures towards her hair, which she should get out of the way.

"The effects are not immediate, so we'll have time to get you to the health facilities here in the bunker, you'll still have one good hour before it kicks in. But after that you'll be pretty much one of the Aesinjur, heh." (Female for Aesir)

Sarah reached back and pulled back her hair showing her white skin to the Kaiser, her heart pulsed over and over quickly as the nervousness began to build in her body. There was no going back now, within minutes everything would be final and her eternal mission would be upon her, but for now it was only this shot. As Michel came closer to her she closed her eyes and prepared for the injection, everything would be different now. Everything.

He moves closer then, removing the protective plastic to deveal the actual needle, and seeks her pulse using his fingers, easily being able to find it. He angles the syringe just right, and then whispers close to her ear, "For the Spirit of our Fathers. For the Glory of our Sons. For our Folk."

The needle pierces through the skin with impunity and the liquid is discharged into her. It seemed to be a warm liquid, comfortably warm as it went through, maybe just almost burning, but not quite. One could never seem to tell if it was a welcome sensation of otherwise. The needle pulls out and then he places his finger against the tiny little spot left, only a small droplet was managing to form before being silenced.

"You're the first person to get this that isn't from a nation I rule. Heh. Very good. It will be alright...come on...let us go...back up..."

Michel had said that it wasn't immediate, but as with the labyrinth from before, Sarah's mind had begun to race. The serum was inside of her now and there was nothing she could do about it. As he lifted her off the chair, the warming sensation moved through her body, where the needle had gone into her veins it burned a bit, but following that the rest of her body felt incredibly warm, indeed a stark contrast to the frigid temperatures of Antarctica. They were able to past through the vault and back onto the tram without a problem or concern, but as they continued to near the hospital where Sarah was to stay, she began to feel a bit more strange. The warmth had stayed with her this whole time, but the problem was, was that every minute or so she got just a bit warmer. The problem was easily that her frame was small, she was a light weight and surely the serum was going to be able to work through her body faster than in an hour. Realistically, there was nothing to worry about, but in her mind she was scared.

"Kaiser. Michel. I...I don't feel...I don't feel the same." She said as they neared the hospital. "I'm I going to be able to lay down?" She took a deep breath to recover herself. She would be fine, she assured herself. He would take care of her, the way he had taken care of Mikhail. As the warmth washed over her body again, she softly tilted her head back and let the feeling sweep over her. She would be in the hospital soon and there would be nothing to worry about. She had to keep telling herself that, nothing else would do.

"You will never be the same again. You are beginning a new life, as a new person. Yourself, yet unrestrained. Unleash from the Thralldom of a frail body. Lay down. I will be here. I brought a couple of specialists, so you are alright. They've taken care of all of the similar cases."

They entered the hospital as they spoke, a couple of Doctors looked as if they were expecting them, but not the others. He helps her to a room and slowly directs her to lay down, stepping back once to help get her shoes off. The warmth was there, but it wouldn't become too intense to bear for some minutes yet.

"You will feel yourself dying. But then you will have a dream. Kind of like people who in the past used to say they died and then came back. But we'll be taking care of you. When you go back to yourself, you will feel strong, your mind will be clear. Your senses will be sharper, so at first you'll be disoriented. You'll see and smell things like never before, your mind will work faster and more accurately. And then...the world will not be able to stop you...rest..."

Outside, a Military Officer had gathered a few lower hierarchy doctors and the Nurses, giving them strict orders: "We were never here. You never saw me, nor Martens, nor the Lady Protector, for your own safety and the safety of our Lands."

The hospital section containing her was locked and shut. Probably within the next ten or five minutes, the pain would begin.

Sarah lay silent against the soft bed in the hospital, around her stood Martens along with a contingent of doctors, he said they were specialists and that she should trust them, that she should trust him. She didn't have any other choice. Reaching up she grabbed his hand and held it against her chest. "Everything is going to be okay right? Please tell me I'm going to be okay?" He nodded and she clutched his hand tighter. A minute passed, then two, then three and with every passing second she waited and waited for this said pain to begin, but it never seemed to come. After the fifth minute she glanced back up at Martens and gazed curiously into his eyes. "Michel I don't fe-......" Sarah stopped as her pupils shrunk and she thrust forward in the bed.

"AAAUUUGGGGHHH!!!" She screamed in pain she bolted forward, her eyes wet with water as the doctors pushed her body back down into the mattress. "AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!" She screamed again. "What's happening to me! What's happening to me!" It was the worst pain she had ever felt in her body before, worse than being shot, worse than the emotional pain of the nuking, worse than what the most degenerate ruffians had ever done to her person. The warming sensation immediately turned to a burning feeling and from burning it turned to boiling. Yes, that was it, it felt like her blood was literally boiling that her veins were expanding in and out and the tubes were melting from the intense heat. "No! Make it stop! Make it stop! I'm dying! I'm dying! Please help me! Please!" But the doctors and Martens just stared back down at her and as the pain began to rise further and further her voice stopped and she felt her hands slipping away from the bed. No, it couldn't end like this, she couldn't die at twenty-nine. But they were getting further and further away as she continued to sink further and further into the ground. With her last ounce of strength, Sarah lifted her arm into the air, she reached for something to hold on to, but as she grabbed the Kaiser's hand, what can only be described as death enveloped the rest of her body and she felt her eyes begin to close. As she sank, she could here a strange voice, but ever so familiar calling out. "Now, now you are free." And then darkness.

-------------------------

It was snowing on a wide expanse that lay in front of her, no trees, no hills just flat barren nothingness and she was alone.

"Hello! Hello! Is anyone there?" Sarah called out into the wind that whipped down from the sky and blew her hair behind and in front of her, but she only could keep walking. She didn't know where she was going, but it didn't really matter either, because she didn't know where she was. Crossing the expanse seemed like an eternity, but even while she was walking the only way she could tell she was gaining any ground was the footprints that littered the ground behind her, mysteriously not covered up from the falling snow. Sarah wandered for what felt like days, with the environment around her never changing, never faltering, only snowing on a great abandoned plain, but she kept walking because that's all she knew and that's all she could do.

Finally after she had walked for what seemed like five days, without food, without water, without nourishment, without love she could feel her energy being sapped away from her body and she felt to her knees in the snow and tried to cry. She wanted to, she wanted to leave this prison of waste and snow, but there was no way out. Turning her head to the gray sky above she screamed towards the heavens. "Please! Where am I? Is this hell? Am I dead? Why am I suffering like this?"

"Sarah." Said the voice from in the hospital. "Sarah." Said the voice as a firm hand grabbed her shoulder. She jumped up from the snow and turned around to jump away from the figure, but at looking at the face she stopped.

"Dad?"

Alexander Tintagyl stared back at his daughter and smiled. "I'm so proud of you." His eyes sparkled in the Tintagyl fashion as he brought his daughter close to his heart. "I want to apologize for what I said to you the one night before I died, that you would never live up to what I accomplished in my life and that you would never live up to what your brother accomplished in his life. Sarah you have out done us all and we are all proud of you." As he said this, two other figures, her brother Samuel and her mother Margaret passed through the snow that was now blanketing her and her father. "We have been staring down at you ever since we left the earth and our ancestors and our people have stared down at you as you have transformed from a weak little girl into a strong young woman." He held her shoulders and brought her so he could look at her better. "Now, you have the destiny of your people intertwined, you are the Hansa and the Hansa is you and we will always respect that. One day you will die, but you will always be immortal and have taken your place with the great leaders, the gods and goddesses of the past. And for that you have the love of your people eternally."

As Alexander said this, the snow began to stop and a multitude of shadows appeared around where the family stood. The multitude approached them slowly, but with a positivity in their steps. "Look Sarah, look at your people." Sarah turned and beheld the great crowd that now stood in front of her. Her friends, her servants, her people and she realized that many of the faces had been the way the were in the dreams she had had after the nuking of Helsinki. There stood Karl, Jan, her other ministers, her friends from the university, and other world leaders that had since passed on. "We all ask to be remembered Sarah, we all ask to be honored and you can do that, you can bring about a new age of prosperity for the Hansa and for the world. You will always be our eternal leader and our eternal savior." At those words the great multitude with her family fell to their knees and looked up at the woman that stood before them. "Your Ladyship. Lady Sarah Tintagyl."

"Lady Sarah Tintagyl." The multitude repeated and continued to repeat her name until another fierce storm came down from the sky and began to sweep the multitude back into the gray sky where they came from. But before everyone had disappeared, Alexander walked out from the storm and laid his hand on his daughter again.

"Do what is right Sarah. Always do what is right." He turned around and began to walk back into the storm as his figure faded into the gray.

"Dad! No! Wait! Please! Wait!" Sarah called out, but it was too late as he disappeared into the storm and as she reached her hand out to grab him a burning sensation shot into her arm and she felt herself falling back towards the ground. Collapsing on the ground, her body sprawled out in the snow she beheld a great white light forming in the clouds above her as the snow seemed to dissipate and the storm ended in a flash of burning white light.

----------------------------

Without warning, Sarah's eyes opened in the hospital as she shot forward and breathed her first real air once again. She sat there gasping, her chest heaving in and out and she realized that she was alive. The room was abandoned, but as she leaned forward and rubbed the tiredness out of her eyes, she didn't feel tired at all, in fact she felt energetic that she would be able to run right out of the bed and begin working again. She felt strange, but it was a welcome strange. It was a strength that she had never felt before, not only a physical strength, true she felt oddly strong for a girl of her size, but there was more to it then that. There was a mental and psychological strength that filled her mind. Whatever Martens had given her, it had been a success. For one she wasn't dead and it had truly created her into something new and as she sat in the bed she could hear the sounds coming from beyond the door. They were still keeping a close eye on her.

Belatedly she'd find herself connected to monitoring systems. The typical beeping noise. But no, she could hear things she couldn't hear before. She could barely hear them outside talking, gossiping, she could hear them breathing from afar, she could even hear a faint humming sound from the machine that was normally only audible if one would place one's ear right against it, she heard herself think more clearly and her eyes captured little details of the textures ahead on the ceiling and walls that didn't quite seem to be visible before unless she either used a magnifying glass or strained her eyes greatly from up close. Breathing was easier, too.

Almost right away she is able to feel Martens' prescence as well as his slow heartbeat and breathing. The lights seemed to illuminate too much, her eyes instinctively wanted to close for protection. Also, she was quite hungry all of a sudden.

The Kaiser's face stared at her grimly, seriously, their eyes being the same color now. He rises from his chair and takes a few steps closer to her bed, then his gaze appears to soften right before a smile is seen on his features. He moves some of her hair out of the way of her eyes and smiles knowingly, he can tell that she has already changed.

"...Welcome back."

She squinted her eyes as the Kaiser walked into the and stared down at her, turning away for a moment just to gather her composure she breathed in heavily. To be honest she wasn't sure everything that had happened to her, but the world was changing in front of her and as she turned back to the Kaiser she placed her head in her hands and shook herself trying to gain her bearings again. "Everything is so different now Your Excellency, everything's so bright so different." She looked down at the bed. "I had the most vivid dream, I saw my parents again and my brother and all my people it was all so beautiful." She sighed and reached out taking his hand. "I want to thank you for doing this to me, for helping me, I realized in the dream that I have a duty to my people and that with this new strength I will be able to accomplish this."

Sarah was quiet for a time as the two sat calmly when her stomach rumbled and she laughed. "Three questions though. How long was I asleep for? When will I be able to go back to Brisbane? And can I eat something please? I'm starving."

He nods, listening, knowingly.

"Those dreams. They are very common. Some say those near death experiences are the sources of myths such as Valhalla, the Valkyries and Einherjar. You did see some dead people after all, heh. Do not worry. Your people will thank you a million times..." He cannot help it but to laugh once she mentions the food.

"I guess that means you are indeed healthy. Heh. It's been a week almost. We can leave anytime. We do have after all all the time in the world! Let us go"

Sarah had often heard that soldiers who had gone days without food and found themselves abandoned and starved, in eating their first meal were able to taste the most minuscule parts of bread, meat, and even water had a taste. She was not starving, but the beer and the meat that the doctors placed in front of her tasted absolutely new to her. Indeed, Michel was not joking in the least when he talked about her senses being enhanced her abilities changed. As the two of them sat at the table eating and conversing, she tried to hide the fact that she was having an almost impossible time trying to listen to the Kaiser's words from all the other talking going on in the room around her. She heard constant meaningless news and the literally sounds of men chewing their food. This all began to build into a massive migraine.

For most of dinner she held her head and didn't talk much, it would be hard to get used to this, to get used to this new found ability, this new found strength and the power that was inside of her was demanding to come out. However, she was a lady and that was no way for her to behave. After dinner, Martens and the medical staff took her back to her room for her to change out of the hospital gown and back into her actual clothes. When she was changing, she couldn't help but glance into the mirror and she jumped slightly back at who stared back at her. It was her, but she looked so different. Sarah's sapphire eyes shown now like bloodstone, red, as a sharp contrast to her pale skin. She could also see the small little features in her face and on her body that unless with close attention she would find. In addition, she found that though the serum had not altered her body to a great deal, her arms and her bodily structure was a tad bit more defined.

After changing she stepped back out to where the Kaiser and the staff were waiting and with her makeup back on she felt much more presentable and smiled as they escorted her back to the top surface.

Reaching the Antarctic she immediately shielded her eyes from the blasting sun as they neared her jet. She turned to the Kaiser as they stood alone before she boarded. "Michel, thank you, thank you so much for meeting with me here. I hope that we will be able to see each other again very soon." She looked into his red eyes and smiled. "And thank you for this gift, you've transformed me into something much more than a weak girl, I hope that I finally can become a shinning star for my people and the world." She leaned forward and kissed him and smiled in the cold Antarctic sun.

He simply stands there, looking into her eyes for what seemed to be a long while. The wind continued to move, although it was surprisingly calm for the region. He merely states after blinking once, "Now our eyes are the same."

A pause.

Martens takes out some elegant yet modern black sunglasses from one of the inner pockets of his jacket, and places them onto her to shield her eyes and her new identity from the sun. It was slightly funny, as the head sizes were different indeed the glasses didn't seem to fit just right, but they did their job regardless.

"I have a job to finish."

He looks towards the north, narrowing his eyes, as if he could see his enemy from so far away. He is determined. Then he looks back towards her and the usual little smile returns. "I'll see you later. Once it is all over Týr and I and everyone can gather together and have some food. If things go right, there'll be unprecedented peace. I feel that this is the last battle of the era. I feel that things will change for the good after this. May we fight with Odin's help."

He nods until the nod turns into a very respectful little bow. His own Jet not far from there was started up by a helper, the engines spat out their fire. He looks towards Sarah's ready plane and waits for her to board it before walking to his own plane and towards the Destiny of the Norns.
