Zoot Zoot
General Montgomery was still in Pretoria waiting to join his lead elements in Tanzania when an airfield was captured when the message arrived from Egypt. As Governer, he was authorised to respond to the letter and act on the British Governments behalf. He quickly penned a response confirming the arrival of the letter, and that if Egypt wishes to send a delegation to Mbeye, a border town in Tanzania which was the most forward and secure British settlements in Africa. Montgomery would make best speed to the town on a DC3.
