The world has changed and we have failed to evolve with it. Gone are the days of diplomacy and reason. Now we live in the ultimate expression of a state of nature. A time when unprovoked attacks are praised and old friendships forgotten. We are not innocent in how this world has progressed... Sooner or later, the day comes when you can't hide from the things that you've done anymore.

We spent years fighting for our friends and we paid dearly, but we paid it gladly. Now we fight to defend ourselves from an unprovoked attack from those former friends. Relationships can dim, but we always have a choice in how we treat those that were once dear to us. A formal explanation for years of dedication might have been a good start, instead we were told our adversaries were bored.

We all stand on the twilight of this world, ruthless unprovoked aggression will only hasten the inevitable outcome. However we are not yet ready to go into that good night. Once more into the fray. Into the last good fight we'll ever know.

To the every lasting glory of The Phoenix Federation.

  2. All I got from this is that the donation bonus has exceedingly thrown out of wack the game mechanics of the game we call Cybernations.

To the point where you have nations whom have grown so large they can no longer entertain themselves with a massive nation advantage, and nations so small either realizing the futility of attempting to compete or offering suggestions of personal martyrdom of ~2-3 years of effort in exchange for what an uber-tier nation would make back in less than a couple collection days.

At the end of the day -- I'm a firm believer that CN's popularity and success is a result of the content and relationships it has generated. An overwhelming, astronomical amount of this has been due to the fairness factor -- forcing individuals to either work together to solve problems, make new ones, and allowing even the most base of individual to effect their surroundings through either the employment of manpower or individual strength. Given that manpower has been significantly weakened due to simply unpredictable end-game mechanics, and individual power also crushed and left to an extreme subset of individuals -- it's only natural to recognize that there has been an ongoing decline of content and relationships being generated. Does it still happen? Yes, but far less intense in content and effort.

There are really about four options.

    A. Do nothing

    B.  Introduce inflationary practices to diminish the simply unobtainable levels of cash, tech, infra, and land currently hoarded. Retroactively implement hard caps to money that can be held on hand. Introduce repair penalties to infrastructure levels over X amount. Introduce Tech Degradation over time.

    C. Introduce more wonders -- but introduce nation time clock requirements -- ex: no nation over 6 months or  1 year can purchase, etc. Allows for some measure (though incomplete and unanswerable to the relatively low inflation we have,) to give new nations a shot. Recognize that fairness plays a good deal in the willingness to play Cybernations, and that I would argue a good majority recognize (though not necessarily agree on how to fix/whether to fix,) there is a nearly insurmountable hurdle for a nation new today unless given extreme/extraordinary benefits (or otherworldly donations in combination with free cash,) are unlikely to even sniff a moderate level of significance in parity.

    D. Reset the game and revert back to 3m 50 tech aid limit. This could spark interest and cause a great boom, but admittedly drive others who donated time/money to their nations to become even more apathetic than they are now to disappear. I'm willing to bet newcomers will vastly outpace those who drop off and fill up the coffers faster -- and I think the people who say they'd leave grossly overstate so to discourage such talk. Eliminate the MP wonder for a year. It had a good run and the mechanics worked fabulously. I guarentee if this was rebranded by admin and re-launched it would have great success, but again admit it might prove so successful as to truly signal the death knell of this world.

All that is required is to allow more war slots per nation and allow multiple nuke hits per day. Extremely large nations leverage the limits of how many opponents they can possibly face. Increase the cap on how many wars and who can launch those wars and suddenly the balance would shift quite a bit. A global war or two would take everyone back to the stone age.

  3. When I moved from leading a tiny alliance to a sanctioned continuum size one, one of the coolest moments was meeting other high gov types. Slayer called me up and told me "this guy moo is a good guy, my one rule for you taking over is repay our debt with NPO, we owe them. You can count on moo." Now prior to meeting moo, I'd actually spent a good deal of time fighting against NPO and had even been zi listed at one point shortly after GWIII. Our first meeting was amusing, instead of sounding like intimidating figure he was in CN, he had a high, but kind voice, those of you that talked to him know what I mean.

So anyways I'll tell a story of shortly after I took over and we nearly broke away from Q before it became the cool thing to do, and this is what I always remember about moo. NPO was zi'ing one of our allies members because someone had figured out it had aided some fan reroll. I grabbed cj and we called up moo about the situation. We went back and forth for hours about it. Finally I said something about well I guess we'll have to re evaluate our treaties. Moo let out this shriek "hey hey heeeeyyy, theres no need for that." It was the way he said it that was so funny, it totally took a serious (internet serious business) moment and made it fun again.

We'd hang out daily on skype, always a good time. Moo was a good person, with a genuine good nature. Online people can be anyone, that can raise suspicion or be freeing. In the end, Moo was who he choose to be to us, and in the years I knew him, that is what he'll remain to me. A friend with a kind heart and I'll miss those times we'd hang out.

So that no-reentry did apply to TIO/TPF/OCN and NPO/IRON agree's to limit their involvement to GOD/Sparta?

Sorry just not sure if I'm reading this right.

TPF/TIO/OCN are free to do as we please. The terms were the conditions required for VE peace.

Must say I'm very disappointed in the resolve of an alliance we have considered friends for a long time.

    Alas,

"Friendship isn't about whom you have known the longest... It's about who came, and never left your side."

They were in a position similar to our deployments in Karma, after I ordered all reserves out of pm to take some heat off ml. I have not seen an alliance entering into a risky war like this in that deployment mode for some time. That said karma lasted 20 rnds of war for us and about 2-3 for VE. I'd expect to see them bounce back quite a bit quicker as a result.

As per our normal policy which we have had in every war since karma, I would just like to officially note that any Viridian nation who accepts these terms will be placed on our ZI list until their sentence is fulfilled. Given that we are rather occupied at the moment, I'm guessing this will extend into the post war period as well.

As I don't suspect any material number of Viridians will surrender, there shouldn't be any issues, but it's always good to be clear.

Also, I didn't get around to mentioning it in any of the counter declarations, but good luck to TPF, IRON, etc in the war.

On behalf of TPF I'd like to apologize for the coalition name.... Anyone that leaves probably wasn't adding much anyways. You guys will be fine.

Well we do have ~70% the members of ODN/NG and roughly half of your membership, so I'd say we're having a good time.

There isn't a need for our side to argue the intensity or deployments of those on VE. The simple matter is they are in for a hell of a fight regardless of statistics or datapoints. I can respect that as we've been there many times.

As the world continues on in this terrible business, we know of no other way than to stand with our friends and allies. Time and time again we choose to bleed with them as they would do for us. The fact that our enemy is compelled by these same intentions will not be lost on us. This is not the first time we have meet on the field, but perhaps it can be the last. In defense of the New Pacific Order, The Phoenix Federation declares war on the Viridian Entente. May our conflict be swift and conducted with honor.

Oh this? It's a Tumblr artist called "Ask Little Miss Rarity" . That's all I'll say since linking to it is a bit... well yeah. I wish it was me. Rarity is my all time fav pony.

Also your alliance's DoE was literally one of the only things that has made me want to leave GATO in ever. Unfortunately other alliances have dibs on me if I leave GATO. Unlikely for me to do since I have commitments to my alliance.

This was the coalition you decided to back, man
    [/quote]
We are not in a coalition. NPO was attacked without cause, we are defending NPO. I mean FAN gave a reason "war is fun" for why they hit our allies. I'm just looking for some reasoning here. Sure "bloc war", but if they didn't declare as a bloc?
