    Invicta Moves to New Forums

I'll keep this short and sweet. Last March, Invicta moved to forums on ZetaBoards. They were OK, but they proved to be a bit buggier than we were willing to accept. So we decided to go with custom-made forums. These took a long time to get together, but they finally went live a few weeks ago. There will still be some tweaks and modifications to come, but we think they look great, and we're ready to have some company!

I'd like to invite all our friends to come visit us at our shiny new home!

What a wretched lot of old shrivelled creatures we shall be by-and-by. Never mind – the uglier we get in the eyes of others, the lovelier we shall be to each other; that has always been my firm faith about friendship. – George Eliot

Invicta has always been proud to call USN friend. And although our two alliances have long been tied together through the Common Defense Treaty, we each felt that we wanted to more fully express and codify our commitment to one another. A commitment that has lasted through thick and thin, even at those moments when each of us felt shunned in this lonely world we call Bob. Like outcasts. Like…

    Two Pariahs in a Pod

    Article I - Non Aggression

In signing this treaty, both parties agree that neither shall engage in hostile activities between the mentioned alliances.

Also in signing this treaty, it is agreed that neither alliance shall offer aid to the enemy of the other alliance.

    Article II - Mutual Defense

If a signatory of this treaty finds itself under the attack of a third alliance, the other signatory is expected to defend the alliance under attack by the form of counter-attack ASAP. Neither signatory is required to aid the other with military assistance in wars that are caused via an existing MDP with an alliance outside this treaty.

    Article III – Aggressive Warfare

Either signatory may choose to aid or engage alongside their fellow signatory in an aggressive war, following their standard protocols for war declaration. Such action is not required, nor expected, to be provided, and the declination of such shall not effect the standing of this treaty.

    Article IV- Intelligence

In signing this treaty, both parties agree not to conduct any form of espionage on the other.

Should the signatory alliances discover any intelligence that would expose a plot by a party hostile to either signatory, then it is their duty to hand over such evidence to ensure the peace and prosperity of the signatories.

    Article V – Precedence

The signatory alliances in this document agree that this document takes precedent over any treaties not requiring mutual defense of the signatory alliances.

Article VI - Article of Withdrawal

Should either party want to withdraw this treaty, 72 hours of notice must be given before the treaty is dissolved.

By signing this treaty both parties agree to all the above Articles.

Invicta's not a new alliance, as any experienced player reading these boards knows! But we have just moved to new, custom-designed forums, located HERE.

This project has been a long time in the making, and we're pretty excited about the finished result (well, OK, the nearly finished result – it seems like there are always more tweaks that can be made!). I pushed for big, splashy graphics saying things like NEW! and IMPROVED! and NOW WITH LESS POLYSORBATE 80! But I was outvoted. :)

We would love to invite any new nations or old hands looking for a home to come and check us out! We're not the biggest, but I can promise you a great group of people!

    Invicta's stats:

    • Number of nations - 167
    • Overall NS - 4.2M
    • Average NS - 25K
    • Score - 16.22
    • Trading sphere - Purple
    • Total number of slightly deranged Canadians - 2

I hope to see you there!

  4. Kriekfreak, the depth of it wasn't entirely clear to us until we investigated it fully. But yes, it now appears that this has been going on for some time. Evidently he was fulfilling just enough of the obligations to be able to cite satisfied customers.

As an aside, it seems clear from his PMs to me since expelling him that this was all just some sort of sociological experiment/joke on his part.

  5. Just as an FYI, he is actively reading his PMs. I received this from him:

To: Jorost From: DragonFyre Date: 12/2/2009 6:18:23 AM

    Subject: RE: Expulsion

    Message: Hello,

Please note that I won't be removing the Invicta AA. I'll be flying the flag until this nation is deleted. I could stay in Peace Mode for quite a duration, but it would effectively be delaying the inevitable. Therefore, deletion shall occur when my Foreign Aid slots expire.

You'll find that CN users like Crazy Matty from PC did indeed get CN payments for their real-life money payments. In fact, they got a better price than they otherwise would have. One could infer that taking CN payments for the incentive of a donation has at some point taken real-life money... it wasn't my direct intent though.

Unfortunately, the rabbit was out of the hat before my 90 days in existence... but I feel enough has been learned.

    Etc.

    Kind Regards,

    DF

So it seems unlikely that any of us will get satisfaction in terms of comeuppance for DF. It looks like he's just planning to let his nation sit in peace mode until it deletes.

    Presidential Flag of Invicta

I am sorry to announce that a member of my alliance, DragonFyre, has unfortunately been perpetrating a donation-selling fraud. Targeted nations would send him $3M in exchange for a promised donation that would never come. Be assured that such behavior is not tolerated in the Invicta Alliance, and DragonFyre has been duly expelled. He has been given 24 hours to drop the Invicta AA or face military action from us. By being expelled, he forfeits any protection from Invicta.

I warn all denizens of the world of Bob not to deal with DragonFyre. I hope that anyone affected by this former Invictan's behavior will accept my apologies. Invicta will refund all monies sent to DragonFyre as a part of this scheme to anyone who can provide proof in the form of screenshots that a deal had been made. Please contact us at our forums (forums.cn-invicta.com) or our IRC channel (#invicta on Coldfront).

  7. Over the past week or so the situation between SLCB and Invicta got out of hand. For myself and my alliance, I can say that we acted in a manner that was, to put it charitably, not always very statesmanlike. Others might use a word that rhymes with "massfat." :)

I wholeheartedly apologize for any and all actions by me or any member of my alliance that contributed to the rancor and the ill will. And I am happy to accept the hand of SLCB in the spirit of statesmanship, and the hope of future friendship.

Let us consider the hatchet well and truly buried.

    o/ SLCB

  8. Look, I answered the question to the best of my knowledge. And the full logs have been posted anyway. The full logs, I hasten to point out, that say fundamentally the same thing that my quotes did. All I was trying to do was illustrate my point with a supporting quote. I believed they were accurate. The words were, but as it turned out they were out of order. Why would I deliberately (and clumsily) alter a log when there were many, many people with access to the correct one? That wouldn't be very smart. I mean, I've never claimed to be a genius, but I'm not that dumb! No matter what my mother said when I was a kid.

We did apologize for the mistake. But I didn't. So I will now. Ahem. Please accept my apologies, on behalf of myself and my alliance, for posting inaccurate logs. I did not deliberately alter them, nor do I have any knowledge of any member of my government doing so. And if I were to discover that a member of my government did deliberately alter them there would be severe consequences for that individual.

Frankly, as fun as this has been in some ways, [OOC]and as good as it has been for interest and activity[/OOC], I'd like to put it behind us and move on.

  9. Pleasopleaseoplease let this post make it to 30...

Look, I was in IRC, I was composing the post, I said "Somebody give me the relevant quotes from the logs," someone sent them to me in query, and I copy/pasted them. That's it. Of course others are free to spin whatever dastardly conspiracy theories they want (and I'm sure they will). [OOC]Oh, and 9/11 was caused by a cabal of Zionists, too.[/OOC] ;)

It's interesting, though, how these Stickmen alliances always fall back on the "We were quoted out of context" defense. Seems like I remember them doing the same thing back when the logs about their intent to move to Purple were leaked.

Maybe if they don't want to be quoted out of context they shouldn't speak the actual words. :)

  10. Logs doctored to make another alliance look bad...

LOL. You give me too much credit.

Besides, in my experience the Stickmen alliances don't need anyone's help to make them look bad. They seem to do a fine job of that all by themselves!

(I'm sorry. That was just too good an opening to resist!)

    Oh, and...

    No U.

    :)

EDIT: Dammit I was sure that would bring us to 30!

  11. I can't believe this thread has gotten this long. I figured 2-3 pages at the most, and then something new would come along to capture people's attention. WTF?!? Is the situation in Bob so dull right now that this is the best we can do? Or is this "Purple Cold War" just a lot more interesting than I think?

At this point it would be a downright shame not to make it to 30 pages!

  12. Give me a break.

I posted those log snippets exactly as they were given to me. I didn't make any edits. It turns out that apparently there was a line out of order. But it's not like it changes the fundamental meaning.

I refer you to the words of Mark Twain, who said "Never ascribe to malice that which can adequately be explained by incompetence." In other words, I'm not a scoundrel – just an idiot!

    Wait... That's not really better...
