Well, did any of you watch it? Most of you, I'm sure, gave up on it after the record-long 6 hr 22 min rain delay! Anyway, here is my recap:
Things started off well for the Joe Gibbs guys and Kurt Busch, all of them leading laps. Paul Menard led at halfway, which is not necessarily a good thing, because practically no one wins leading at lap 100, if you look at the stats.
Kyle Busch pulled a "Sponge-Brad", as I like to call it. He took the airgun from his pit stall and had to serve a penalty. Aric Almirola also did this, taking the jack with him. That, to me, was horribly entertaining.
The battle for the lead in the last 20 laps was epic. Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Brad Keselowski, and Denny Hamlin all got in on the action. In the end, Jr took the checkered flag! He got tape on the grill on lap 197, and tried to get it off using the pace car. Paraphrasing, I'll quote Dale here:
"Actually, I think the tape helped us. It gave us a much-needed distraction. It kinda took away the stress and gravity of the situtation."
Austin Dillon, as he said, "showed his yellow stripes" last night, and got into several wrecks, causing two of the three. (I think that stat is right, look it up, fellow fact-checkers.) Most of the wrecks in the 500 were major, taking out some pretty big names, like both Busches, Kevin Harvick, Danica Patrick, and others.
Kyle Larson, the one of the other favorites for Rookie of the Year, made most of America question how legit this really was, and hit the wall twice, and was finally taken out by a wreck that Dillon caused.
So, Jr takes the checkered flag. He is almost guaranteed a Chase berth. Opinions, anyone? I'll be the first to say that I was screaming with joy!

Hey, everyone! Glad to see you! I am doing a survey to see what you think the best songs of 2013 in country music were! Here are the rules:
    1. The hits MUST BE released in 2013. For example, "Blown Away", by Carrie Underwood, was a 2012 hit. Not eligible. (Her only eligible hit would be "See You Again".)
    2. The songs must be sent to me through the Messenger system on here.
    3. Submit before January 15, 2014. I don't want to be at this until the end of next year!
Have fun picking out your favorites!

Just if the Worldwide Artist thing confuses you, that wasn't a nomination thing.
Look for the aterisks to see whether or not I agree. Not that my opinion matters, it just is what I think should've been changed. (You'll notice FGL's wins all stripped away! Bwah-ha-ha!) Okay. So, I put all of the aterisks near Taylor Swift's name. Sorry to the fans. It isn't the music that bothers me, it's her ego. If any of you strongly disagree, I'm more than happy to discuss it with you.

Well, we have our new Sprint Cup champion, my friends! It is JIMMIE JOHNSON! So, here's a basic recap of how everything went down.
Denny Hamlin won the race. Really, it was a dead heat between Dale Earnhardt Jr and Matt Kenseth, with Hamlin, of course. (I feel bad for Kenseth, because not only did he lose the championship, he even came in second at the race. Ouch.) Jimmie got shoved around by everyone during restarts, and had damage when everyone was racing 5 or 6 wide during the restarts for positions. Kudos to you, JJ!!!

Well, well, well. That was certainly an interesting night. Here are the winners!
Video of the Year: "Highway Don't Care" by Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban
Musical Event of the Year: "Highway Don't Care" by Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban
Song of the Year: "I Drive Your Truck" by Lee Brice (awarded to songwriters)
Single of the Year: "Cruise" by Florida Georgia Line
Vocal Duo of the Year: Florida Georgia Line
Vocal Group of the Year: Little Big Town
Album of the Year: "Based on a True Story" by Blake Shelton
New Artist of the Year: Kacey Musgraves
Male Vocalist of the Year: Blake Shelton
Female Vocalist of the Year: Miranda Lambert
Entertainer of the Year: George Strait
The Pinnacle Award was handed out to Taylor Swift.
Here are my opinions. "Highway Don't Care" is a decent song, though I really don't think it deserved Video, or even Musical Event, because for me, there was always someone to outrank them. Song of the Year was a shocker, because I kind of figured it was going to be "Mama's Broken Heart" or "Pontoon". Unfortunately, Single wasn't a shocker, because of course FGL was going to have to get something. Same with Vocal Duo. (I think it should have been Miranda Lambert or Darius Rucker for Single, and Duo should've been Love & Theft or Thompson Square.)
I certainly wasn't surprised by Vocal Group; kudos to LBT for their win. It was going to be them or Lady Antebellum. Album of the Year was a well-deserved award for Blake Shelton. (Anyone but Taylor!) New Artist wasn't a shocker, because Kacey Musgraves has been doing plenty. Male and Female were actually kind of surprising for me, because it is rare for that many consecutive titles. Miranda now ties Reba McEntire with 4 consecutive Female Vocalist awards.
Entertainer, that is a different story. You see, Jason Aldean was on GAC talking about what goes into that award. You need good character, must be well-liked by your peers, give back to your craft, and put on a show when you tour. If the nominees were:
    Jason Aldean
    Luke Bryan
    Blake Shelton
    George Strait
    Taylor Swift
then you would automatically have to cancel out Jason Aldean. (If anyone watched Mr. Two-timer Aldean cheating on his wife, then you know what I mean.) Taylor Swift isn't all that well-liked, and the character is a bit lacking, so she's out for the running. That leaves us with Luke, Blake, and George. Blake had already swept 2, so that kind of took him out, and.... I don't know. He just wasn't going to get it. Luke and George were the only two options. This was King George's last time on the ballot, so that kind of makes him the champion, with Luke as runner-up. Good job to both, though. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
Well, congrats to all winners, and if anyone would like to comment, feel free to do so. Goodbye for now!

Okay. THAT was freakin' hilarious. I loved the "ObamaCare By Morning" joke. (Who wants to guess the singer and name of the song? Come on, people!)
Duck Dynasty was good, and the "Why Can't We Be Friends" parody was awesome. (Kelly and Reba feuding. Aye aye aye you guys are sick!)
So, anyway, tell me how you felt about all of it. Arrivederci, my friends!

Well, Jimmie Johnson took home this week's trophy! (For those of you who watched, watching him shoot the guns was AWESOME!!) So, here are the current points standings:
    1. Jimmie Johnson
    2. Matt Kenseth
    3. Kevin Harvick
    4. Kyle Busch
    5. Dale Earnhardt Jr.
    6. Jeff Gordon
    7. Clint Bowyer
    8. Greg Biffle
    9. Joey Logano
    10. Kurt Busch
    11. Carl Edwards
    12. Ryan Newman
    13. Kasey Kahne
Jeff Gordon went out in a blaze, and not one of glory. Kyle blazed out with a tire, too. He also went too fast on pit road. So did Kenseth, actually. I think the massive losers of the race were JG and KB.
Jr came in second, just short of a win.
Carl Edwards started pole, but blew his engine. Logano finished 3rd. Biffle, Newman, Kahne, Kurt Busch, Bowyer, etc. didn't factor into the race, like, at all. Massive eyeroll at Kasey Kahne. I like him, I really do, but -133 is sad. It's not all his fault, but the racing isn't going good for him. Biffle ticked me off last week when he tried to get into it with Jimmie, but Jimmie Johnson smoothed it over. Anyway...
It's a 2-man race, my friends. KH is back -40. No one has won that far back. Jimmie and Matt would need to roll over for a race for him to take the lead. :/ So, Johnson or Kenseth is the question. Who are your picks?
  12. Candor
Okay! It's that time of year, my friends! So, this year is a pretty interesting group of nominees for the various categories. Any favorite artists you'll be rooting for? I know who I am.... But, I won't say anything. Yet.
  13. Candor
Today was a bit of a points shakeup, my friends! (Still waiting on "the big one", for the record.) Jeff Gordon won his first short track race since the 10/05 Martinsville race. That took him from 5th to 3rd in points. Kenseth and Johnson are still in a dead heat (no surprise), and Kevin Harvick is still at fourth. While Gordon gained two positions, the opposite happened for Kyle Busch, who traded spots with Jeff Gordon. Here are the standings as we leave Martinsville, Chase Race #7.
    1. Matt Kenseth (2294) LEADER +1
    2. Jimmie Johnson (2294) TIED -1
    3. Jeff Gordon (2267) +2
    4. Kevin Harvick (2266)
    5. Kyle Busch (2258) -2
    6. Clint Bowyer (2239) +2
    7. Dale Earnhardt Jr. (2238) -1
    8. Greg Biffle (2236) -1
    9. Kurt Busch (2219)
    10. Carl Edwards (2218)
    11. Joey Logano (2209) +1
    12. Ryan Newman (2188) -1
    13. Kasey Kahne (2170)
So, I have some things to say about this race. Now, I have a bias in these next parts. I'll state the facts first, and then I'll spin them.
First of all, this win helps JG's chances of the Sprint Cup title immensely. Jimmie gave up his non-existent point cushion today. This was NOT Kyle Busch's best day. Bowyer gained some ground, as did Logano. Jr, Biffle, and Newman gave up some ground today, as well. Now I'll give you my opinions.
Kudos to you, Jeff! That was a nice run, and a well-deserved one after some of the things that have happened. Johnson, Kenseth, you both have to work if you want this. Kyle, you need to learn how to lose like a big boy. I mean, seriously. Bowyer, you are going to have to do some miraculous things to win back your fan base after the MWR incident after Richmond. So not cool. Biffle, whine all you want about Jimmie Johnson, it's not going to change the fact that you are too far back in the standings to be a chase factor anymore. Kasey Kahne, aye. Please work harder to get a top 10 finish. Two weeks in a row you've been lapped infinitely. You made it this far, it seems like a shame. But, someone needs to come in 13th.
Here are my opinions on who to look out for going forward. Kenseth and Johnson are in a dead heat. Anything can happen at this rate. I really think the race is limited to Kenseth, Johnson, and MAYBE Jeff Gordon. Here is why: statiscally (and yes, if you watch ESPN and trust them, than you can trust me here) no one has won a Sprint Cup without being -24 or less behind. JG is -27. So, adios Kyle Busch!* Anyway, I'll see you all next week at Texas!!!
*Sorry if I offended any fans of his with that comment. He is one of those drivers that you either love or hate. I happen to be part of the latter group.
  14. Candor
Well, folks, Talladega really wasn't all that it cracked up to be. "Yeah, we're going to have a HUGE crash!" Not so fast, my friends. The only really major event was Austin Dillon's crash on the last lap. I was in pain watching that. It reminded me of Tony Stewart's crash. Very sad.
We've had a points shakeup in the Chase! Jimmie Johnson now leads Matt Kenseth in points, with Kyle Busch in third, Kevin Harvick in fourth, and Jeff Gordon in fith. Jr. is in sixth, BTW. So, feel free to post your Sprint Cup opinions!
