404 was notable in his time, but he just doesn't jump to the front of the line when I'm trying to come up with five players who've had a lasting impact. And it's not just personal distaste for the dude (I've traditionally not gotten along with four of the five people I pitched), I just don't think he rises to the same level of personally driven impact the other five players I listed have.
You got a lil' focused into 404. He's an example of subjective view points.

I absolutely get what you're saying, but if we did a vote of the most legendary players in CN, complete with bios who credit players such as 404 to Sponge, it may not be perfect, but it could work.
I'd be fascinated to see to read the bios

Sponge endured as a central figure in the course of CN history from the Great War Era right on through NoCB/WotC, making decisions, for better or worse, that reverberate to today. 404 was, by comparison, a flash in the pan who had the good sense to hook up with the Orders, lost the first major war GOONS got into without Pacifica's backing, and then quit.

If you're going to produce a list of "legends" it'd have to be extraordinarily short, restricted to those who played and personally impacted global politics across multiple eras of history. Ivan Moldavi, Sponge, Archon, Bilrow, and Grub are the first five names that come to mind. That'd probably be my first ballot.

I'm glad you see history so clearly. :smug:

I for one like it. We might as well try.

The date should be later though... maybe start it after this war is over?
The topic is too subjective. What is Electron sponge with out 404? It depends on your view point for who is what. This would turn into a popularity contest in current format.

For a hall of fame like this to work, it would have to have era time frames in which ALL notable members of that time were inducted. It's politics. With out one there can not be the other.

I think some other members nailed it on the head so far when they broke up their selections by time and alliance.

    Ivan
    Dilber
    New Reverie
    Sponge
    Egore
    Archon

Same as most people have mentioned but the reason everyone lists them is because it's true :)

I think the line between legend and infamous is very blurry here. Take it a step further maybe another description can be used, Famous, historical, influential, hall of fame, etc.

[s]Well, conSidering there wasn't a valid reason for GOONs to attack nPo in the first place,[/s] it SeemS a bit hypocritical to puniSh Someone for actually following their treaty, [s]be it an optional aggreSSive[/s] or mutual defenSive clauSe. Either way, it'S a treaty nonetheless. Then again, I[s]'m teaching cOmmOn sense to a GOONs memberS[/s](common sense from a dude who uses acronyms wrong? ), so I'm basically pounding my face against the wall because some goon is laughing at my frustration and tearS.

So being on the EoG list means anyone can attack them without fear from their current alliance??? Seriously??
ooc Your post needs more question marks. /ooc

Yeah , really. If your alliance accepts a nation who is on our EoG list then you in turn accept the consequences.

    Everything Hidraca said too.

Also, our current method is a far cry from what it used to be and what I think it should be, which was; Accepting a EoG into your alliance with out approval from GOONS is an act of war on GOONS.

So it was oA and =LOST='s treaty did not demand that they absolutely have to enter. Again =LOST= has full right to enter this war, they just can't say they were forced to do so by a treaty.

Funnily enough he did. Well he said it about NPO anyway.
Yeah, Sardonic told me we were not getting involved either. I guess the only way to know what REALLY is in our leaders head is our leaders.

I take it Cortath told you NPO was getting involved in the war?

There was a CB, you might not agree with it but it is there. The fact you don't agree with it, was even addressed in the DoW. The fact won't be argued-- so you will continue to see it your way. This is okay and acceptable by us. The outcome will not change.

    Yeah very different situation...

NEW attacks DF without any RATIONAL reason.
DF's allies attack NEW in defense.
PC and iFOK claims it is an agressive move and don't activate their oA treaty clause with NEW
    You:

    Now:

DH attacks NPO with RATIONAL reason.
NPO's allies attack GOONS in defense of NPO
=LOST= active oA treaty clause with GOONS and attacks Legion
    You:

And you guys still be mad when I call you hypocrites, I really can't understand.
fixed your logic.

  10. There is an extraordinary amount of built up intimate frustration between PC and \m/. I see it all the time with old married couples. \M/ and PC need to @$%^ and make up. And by (*&^ I REALLY mean @#$%; as is get after it-- no holds barred @$%@-fest.

You'd be surprised how easy it will be to talk with each other afterward.

Are you !@#$ting me? I guess some inconsequential alliances will hitch their ass to any old turd as long as it will make them feel cool.

    You're not flabbergasted. You're mad.

Schatt, while I usually like your posts, in this case your head is so far up your rectum you're making Invicta and Legion gape in awe at your ability to put your head so far up an arse. The only reason this treaty wasn't signed ages ago was because GOONS had a very steep dislike of FEAR and was unhappy when Europa originally signed with us. The fact that this treaty is now finally being signed shows that the friendship between Europa and GOONS, which has long been there, has grown stronger over time, and old wounds have healed. Furthermore, if you really felt Europa was that inconsequential, you wouldn't have gotten as morbidly butthurt as you just did. Quite frankly, I'm pleased to see our allies putting to words the friendships they've made over their time on Bob.

NEVAR! GOONS is next! Then Europa! Then France!
