  1. I got out of alliances because all they did was war for stupid reasons. guess Ill have to find another one though...

As you're surely discovering with the Viridian Entente, many Alliances don't start wars "for stupid reasons". Other examples are IRON, the Green Protection Agency, The Grämlins, etc etc (and of course AHEAD). You only needed to find the Alliance that suited you.

IRON is the cream of the crop.

This is unquestionably true ---------> IRON

  2. We, as everybody that loves Peace, feel encouraged by these good news. Shall the GPA prosper under its new administration.

While not intending to interfere with others' foreign affairs, we also humbly encourage the Alliances that withdrew from the GPA's DoN to examine the possibility of negotiating a new signature.

We also publicly encourage the GPA to start the works for a new improved version of their DoN, that may better help them to stay in within the Neutrality they devoted themselves to.

(These two points would of course benefit one of the other.)

    Good luck to everybody involved.

  3. In game stats can lie. ICON's were decent, but the majority of the people with the AA were virtually nonexistent on its forums. This created problems whenever the government tried to do anything to grow the alliance (ie aid, recruit, elect more people to government).

We wish to express to you our utmost solidarity. We are leading a much younger Alliance and we already found that those are some of the toughest tasks.

We hope that you will find wealth and evolution in your new homes. Good luck!

  4. The AHEAD finds the Original Poster's statements to be very respectable.

Wheter the GPA is going to follow his suggestions, or not, we hope that all of this will be solved peacefully. For Peace is one of the most valuable gifts, and the GPA has been an example of honourability for a long, long time: they're an asset we would be sad to see disappear (or, worst, to be degraded to something less valuable).

We wish good luck to the forces that are working for the good of the GPA, and for the stability of Cyberverse, both inside and outside of the GPA itself.

(We want to specially thank Shan Revan and DarkMistress, for their encouraging words: they're even more important, because they come from an Alliance that has been damaged by past faulty GPA actions.)

    [Edited for typo]

  5. As a member of FOA I would just like to say you attacked members that were inactive for the most part, you hurt players that never posted on our forum, and you provoked us while our strongest player was away.

I read in this thread that you had crushed all of the nations, yet mine was never defeated. I made the initiative against a member of your Alliance as soon as I found out that the war was on. I may have only won one of the attacks, but none of the retaliation attacks even made a dent in the bulwark of my forces.

I would however like to thank Smurf. They have started the mobilization of the FOA command, and this was is going to bring FOA together and isn't going to tear it apart like you had hoped. This war will bring out of it a stronger FOA than there ever was.

FOA's Resolve and Strength has never been greater than ever before, and now that I hear others are attacking your alliance as well, FOA Members will raise it's flag proudly when this war is over knowing that it fought off an unjust attacker and will see a sound victory at the end of this war.

Congratulations to the author of this epic, well written post. The word "writer" should be used here. :awesome: *clap* *clap* !

On the IC side of the events, let me express the fact that my Cyber Nation and my Alliance are in no way involved in this, and they wish to stay uninvolved. Only, the post above is that good that I couldn't avoid public congratulations to its author. :)

  6. My .02:

    1. Diplomacy

    2. Internal Stability

    3. Organization

    4. Economically

    5. Military Strenght

    Reasons:

    1. Without Diplomacy you're doomed even if you had 100% in the others.

    2. Having active, dedicated and friendly members is a must. No one can lead a successful Alliance alone. Dunno why you called this "stability", though.

    3. You need a project. If not: what are you doing here?

    4. Prosperity is necessary to grow in power and importance.

    5. The idea is to avoid virtually "any" Alliance-wide war. As for block-wide wars, you just need to be in the best block (see point 1). Also, without the remaining points, your military strenght can even be dangerous for your Alliance (you attract enemies, you build up bad karma, you give casus bellorum, etc).

  7. I am not now, nor have I ever been, interested in extending the autonomy or security of the PPF to any outside party.

[OOC]Not every Alliance you can find protection from will try to dictate your Alliance affairs. There's nice people out there, you know...[/OOC]

  8. e: Jerdge is incorrect, you cannot get the messages back, they aren't backed up for Invisionfree.

I wrote that because I remembered this:

    3. Can my board be backed up?...

We perform frequent backups that are free and automatic. They are not available to download though.

    Also, this:

Backup my Board, How can I get a board backup?

In short, you can't, because there is no need. InvisionFree automatically performs backups for you, although you cannot directly access them.

If you ever need your board restored, because of damage due to cracking etc., you can request a restoration by sending a support ticket:

    Admin CP ›› Support Ticket

There might be a fee involved in a board restoration, and it may take a while to complete.

Please note that at this time, we are not completing Board Restorations until after the release of Zetaboards.

I didn't try this personally, and maybe I don't read them correctly, anyway. The second one (that can be very outdated) can also mean that no restorations are available at this moment.

Once and if the root admin is given back control over the board, a support ticket can be tried, anyway (it does no harm).

  9. Rules about spy slot filling: Intra alliance spy operations are not permitted. This is deemed as spy slot filling and nations involved will receive an in-game warning. If nations are caught using spy operations on nations in an alliance they are allied to in the course of an inter alliance war they will receive an in-game warning for illegal spy slot filling. This is detailed in the Cyber Nations forums Game Rules Thread as well as line 15 of the site Terms and Conditions.

What is exactly "being allied to" (or even "belonging to"), with regards to ghosts?

    Scenario:

Alliances A, B and C are at war with Alliance D and E.

A Nation of Alliance D temporarily changes its Alliance Affiliation to B and then conducts a spy operation against a Nation in A. Then they change their Alliance Affiliation to anything choosing among A, C, D, E or none (or even F, a not involved Alliance).

This is done to generate confusion and duck/delay retaliation, in case their spy operation is exposed.

Does that Nation get a warning for "spy slot filling"?

(Of course, more complex or simple scenarios can be imagined).

  10. In the movies and such.. It was always easier to move Up then to move down.... Cause its always been the case where a Nation gets scared it goes to Defcon 4 or 5 to put up maximum defense.. and because they they are nervous and uneasy about the maximum alert at that point they slowly lower it not wanting to be too hasty.

Also any Nation at war should be able to hit Defcon 5 regardless of previous defcon levels

Propose a possible immediate jump to level 4 or 5 and then 1 day each to back down to peace.

    This is another point.

However, good friend, you messed up with the numbers: DEFCON 1 is highest preparedness, while DEFCON 5 is peace-time status.

I think that your point is anyway clear.

  11. Not that many will care about this, but...

AHEAD has a Neutral stance and will not take an official position about this war. This, expecially because we hadn't the time to really check the events, the documents and the evidence available this far.

However, we wish good luck to our good friends of IRON. May their campaign be swift, and may them all come back home, unscathed.

About all the belligerents, we hope that the human losses, and especially the civilian losses, will be kept at the minimum possible. We encourage all the Nations, Rulers and soldiers involved to exercise their right of not engaging in crimes of war.

We supplicate all parties to avoid targeting civilian objectives and infrastructures; of all the threats for humanity, shall the Nuclear Holocaust be avoided at all costs. Shall non-lethal weapons and tactics be instead used whenever possible.

We humbly offer our help in finding diplomatic solutions that can help in reducing the human losses, and in containing the conflict.

    King jerdge of Gaela,

    as Provisional Autocrat of AHEAD.

AHEAD loves peace. For this reason, our opinion is that ideologies based upon superiority and domination eventually lead to aggression and destruction; therefore, we unofficially state that nazism must be expelled from CN, either through diplomacy, education and evolution (preferred method) or through direct violent action (when and if absolutely needed).

Thus, we unofficially support the objectives of the current war.

    King jerdge of Gaela,

as Ruler of the Nation of Gaela.

  12. So let's say that I spend four days building up to DEFCON 1. First thing my enemy does is send spies in to change my DEFCON back to 5. By the time I'm back at maximum readiness, the war is almost over.

Spies' ability to change DEFCON must be disabled before this takes place. If a government can't change DEFCON more than one level per day, how is a spy supposed to be able to do it? Magic?

Also, this is a MAJOR change to game mechanics. Such a mjor change should not be, in my opinion, implemented after barely twelve hours of consideration.

This is one of the most far-reaching changes proposed yet and there is no reason that it should be implemented on such short notice.

What above about spies, and this. A longer waiting period must be set before this takes effect.

    - You can still initiate a surprise attack. It just is slightly less effective. Also, if it it really is a surprise attack, your enemy will also be at defcon 5 and so you will be on equal footing. You will actually likely be on slightly better footing as you will be a step ahead on getting to defcon 1.

    - Alliances can have people switching in and out of higher levels to have a standing force. Should be a natural part of improvement swap cycles anyway to not collect for long periods.

    - You can still fight at levels 2-5. The penalty isn't that huge. Just like you can still collect at levels 1-4, the penalty isn't that huge. I don't know how people get the idea that you can't fight at defcon 5. You just don't now because it would be stupid not to switch to 1 to attack, as it isn't a big deal to switch to 1. And its stupid to collect not in 5 now because its easy to switch into it before update and switch out afterwards. But just because its stupid not to be in 1 to attack and 5 to collect now due to the ease of it doesn't mean it won't kill people to not do it once the change happens.

    - It is realistic. You can still fight a war on the fly. It just takes time to be ready to your maximum advantage.

All of this is true (good points). However, if DEFCON has to be realistic, let's face that RL DEFCON doesn't affect a Nation's happyness/income (if anything, it's a boost to them, due to the people feeling protected, and due to the increased public expenditure).

DEFCON must be made affecting military maintenance costs, rather than Nation's economics, before this change comes in effect.

As it is now, this change basically ruins the spy system, the war system, the economic simulation of this game. I voted NO.
