First, I would like to admit that my reply to Jason Solovsky was unnecessarily provocative and certainly not productive. I would, however, like to respond to comments you made, deligo. The general content of your [email- edited to say] post implies that I have never been involved in recruiting. That is not true. I simply didn't have one recruiting message, because I did not feel that such a practice was appropriate. I am a very busy person (I am writing this now while my computer crunches data for several reports), and I do not think that it took up an excessive amount of my time to do a quick spot check of the nation bio in question. For instance, how do you think it reflects on your alliance for you to send out a message to a nation leader who has made a note in their bio indiciating that they do not want alliance solicitations? That is only one somewhat minor example. I have also been around long enough to have seen a few bad situations/conflicts over inattentive recruiters targeting folks already in another alliance. Again, this doesn't take up too much time (in my opinion) to quickly scan a list of nations and see that the country is already in another alliance. That being said, recruiting is generally a time-consuming process with small rewards compared to the amount of time and messages that you put into the effort.
But let's look at the point of my response (and of this post). I responded to let Jason know how I felt about his message and was trying to give him some feedback for future consideration. In fact, my message stated,:
I said that the message insulted me as a nation leader (the person who will decide whether or not to respond to the email...). Not that Jason was a bad person. I did not remark about his mother. Or his alliance (more about that in a sec). I was using myself as an example of why his message did not apply to me in any way. I was trying to be...helpful? Which is sort of...nice and/or polite? When I got back this response,: - what was I to conclude from this response? That you want me to join your alliance, but you really don't care about me or my opinions? You really don't care about recruiting even though you have a Minister level position in your alliance? Some other interpretation? It really rubbed me the wrong way because I thought that I was doing something decent to take the time to respond in a constructively critical way. Being a person that acts on principles, I chose to make the post. Here is the pertinent information from your response that I am referring to:
I did not say anything horrible about FUCN in my post, other than this:
What I said is, to restate with the same message, be forewarned that this is how a top official in this alliance chose to act in this situation. I woud want such information before joining an alliance when all nations are subject to the consequences of actions taken by their respective leaders. I did not think that I was dragging FUCN through the mud, unless you think that shedding the light of day on this message exchange constitutes that. If it is a message that is embarassing to FUCN, then it should not have been sent in the first place. Would you have contacted FUCN again privately with a complaint or comment (since my initial response was private)? I did not see the point based on the tenor of the reply that I had received. But I felt strongly enough to post this. If what I have posted is confusing, let me say here and now: This message is not meant as a global comment on the entirety of the operations of all departments and/or members of FUCN nor am I trying to imply that I have an opinion at all about FUCN as a whole. This was posted for general consumption and is meant to be food for thought relating to my specific experience with this specific individual. Also, I am only an applicant of TORN at this time. These views or expressed opinions cannot be attributed to TORN members at any level, as they are being said by BigKat. BigKat is not being used as a proxy by TORN (or any other entities) to say these comments. (This part was written by my legal counsel. Since he is not a real "lawyer" per se, this may not be legally binding. But at least I tried). As to your comment about some alliances wanting to roll me for lulz if I was unaligned, that sounds like bullying behavior to me. If an alliance would not attack me when I was aligned, why would an alliance attack me when I was not aligned? I simply do not have respect for that type of behavior, and I am perfectly willing (and able) to protect myself should I find myself unaligned.
Short version: This is something important to me personally. People's opinions will differ. All are entitled to their opinion, but I acted on my personal morals, ethics, opinions, etc. My reports are almost done, so I will close. Thank you for the diversionary discourse deligo.
