  1. I think people are missing the point I was making when I said this wasn't any fun. I wasn't implying that recent actions or events had MADE Planet Bob un-fun. It was more a realization that it has NEVER been fun. The reasons are many: 1. People are taking this crap SERIOUSLY. I mean like, life-or-death seriously. This applies both to baawing and to gushing about the New World Order. The truth is, I don't think people had completely "figured things out" back in Year 1. It really wasn't until the first full-scale Great War broke out that the current mentality emerged. And frankly, I don't think it's possible to go back to those mythical early days. 2. I'm not alliance leadership, nor would I ever want to be that involved in my alliance - I simply don't have the time or the inclination. The pinnacle of my commitment lies in tech-farming, the occasional IRC chat, and attacking at update. I wouldn't know the first thing about this political maneuvering, and frankly, I'm starting to not care anymore. 3. This vacuum won't last long, and pretty soon, people will be whining and complaining about the new people in charge. It might be different people complaining, but it will, in essence, be the same BS that I find irritating about the game today. If anything, Karma takes things even more seriously than NPO does. Ugly words will be exchanged, alliances will be on full alert all the time, being in an alliance will STILL feel like a second job, and the whole experience of CN will still be the same - perhaps even more of the same than it was before (if that makes sense). Bonus points if a few schmucks decide to launch a DDoS attack on the enemy forums. 4. I don't see how this maneuvering will lead to anything other than more !@#$%^&* and contrived pseudo-drama manufactured by people with nothing better to do. About 50% of OWF (and 90% of this thread) consists of cookie-cutter stock arguments at about the level of sophistication of "NO U!" Then there's that long, wordy signature that lists NPO's crimes and talks about them like they were describing Nazi Germany. Yeah, that's my idea of fun right there. It's the same crappy soap opera with new actors. Forgive me for not sharing everyone else's enthusiasm. Perhaps I'm just in a cynical mood right now. Maybe it's just the summer classes I'm taking. At present, I have obligations to certain friends of mine to stay in the game for at least a few more weeks. After that, whether or not I stay depends on what kind of mood I'm in.
  2. Honestly, if you want NPO to disband, I suggest you go out and say it instead of offering peace terms you know full well they won't accept. As for you, NPO - like you should be surprised. You should've known this was coming - to complain about this (particularly on the OWF, which belongs pretty much exclusively to Karma) is simply not useful. They have no sympathy for you at all - and as far as they're concerned, they SHOULDN'T. I won't comment on the "justice" or "injustice" of this situation, because frankly, I'm sick of this BS and don't care about it anymore. OOC: Honestly, sometimes I wonder why I still play this game. Between the NPO baawing and general all-around mean-spiritedness from everyone in the goddamn thread, it causes me to realize something really important: THIS ISN'T ANY FUN. Remember that? Fun? It's just starting to feel like a second job - a job where every damn person takes every damn thing you do or say personally.
  3. That's sad news. I hope he recovers quickly and completely.
  4. The twin shadows of Ivan and Dilber, and the way they've affected Planet Bob, still linger to this day. And lest we forget that Moo has been the target of so much hatred over the last year and a half or so, and presided over the Order's downfall. Seeing as how virtually the entire history of CN has revolved around the NPO, I don't see how anyone in any other alliance could possibly be at the top of this list, for better or worse. It's like Time's Person of the Year - it doesn't matter if you LIKE them or not. It's how influential and important they are.
  5. Disclaimer: The views presented in this post are not necessarily the views of IRON leadership. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, would be very strange because this is a forum post and does not resemble a human being at all. NPO: I would like to see our alliance move away from NPO. It was good for a while, but then boundaries were overstepped, mistakes were made, and when all was said and done, NPO wound up screwing the pooch so hard, that the dog decided it had had enough and bit its dick off. Even after it $%&@ed up so royally while generally treating its allies like meat shields, we still honored our treaty (eventually). And now that treaty is canceled. I think it's time for us to move onto something else. IRON: I'm not going to lie - we aren't blameless. We associated with them, we allied with them, we go down with them. It's only fair. When all is said and done, we still have Duckroll to fall back on, and I feel confident we can find a new place for ourselves in the new world order. Bottom line, I'm still damn proud to be IRON. I've served it when times were good, and I'll continue to do so now. And I'm gonna help us pay the HELL out of those reps. Hey, thanks. Maybe you guys aren't so bad after all.
  6. Well, we gave it all we had. As much as I hate to lose, I have to hand it to the nations I fought. They fought honorably and well. Gonna need to wait two days to decommission my soldiers.
  7. Multipolarity won't last long - eventually there'll be a power that emerges victorious from the inevitable conflicts. It may take a year or so, but it'll happen. And whoever emerges should know that they won't last forever, either. I suspect their "reign" will last longer than the interim period, however. I predict it'll either happen one or two Great Wars from now. CN is quite different now than it was three, two, or even just one year ago. Imagine what it'll be like a year from now.
