King Irwin
Can someone tell me what the formula is for calculating land purchase costs? Or at a minimum, are there any "land jumps" like there are for infrastructure costs? It has been a long time since I've bought land, and I can't remember how to determine the costs. Thanks! Viluin
Whatever it is, it's way too expensive. There's a land calculator floating around somewhere.. so obviously someone has figured it out. Edited February 22, 2010 by Viluin
Baldr
http://www.cn-utilities.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=LandCalculator.aspx I've only bought land when I was getting a "Your population is way too crowded" warning. It hasn't come up often, at least for me.
azidhak
I remember when I passed 1000 miles of land, there was a jump. But I do't know the formula.. There are definitely "land jumps". The above link doesn't working by the way!
King Irwin
Thanks...that calculator was exactly what I needed! (the link worked fine for me, azidhak) This confirmed what I was afraid of...there is an absurdly large jump at 8000. I'm at the point where infra is no longer profitable, and I just got an event that reduced the price of land, so I thought it would be a good time to stock up. But I've just managed to acquire enough land to put me over 8000, and with the price going up by over 1/3, I'll have to reconsider whether it's even worth it. King Irwin
In case anyone else is wondering, it looks like there are jumps at 20, 30, 60, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, 800, 1200, 2000, 3000, 4000, and 8000. If I reverse engineered Syzygy's equations properly, it comes out as: L>8000: L*$75 + $400 (~36% jump) L>4000: L*$55 + $400 (~22% jump) L>3000: L*$45 + $400 (~12% jump) L>2000: L*$40 + $400 (~14% jump) L>1200: L*$35 + $400 (~16% jump) L>800: L*$30 + $400 (~20% jump) L>500: L*$25 + $400 (~24% jump) L>400: L*$20 + $400 (~31% jump) L>300: L*$15 + $400 (~44% jump) L>250: L*$10 + $400 (~76% jump) L>200: L*$5 + $400 (~27% jump) L>150: L*$3.5 + $400 (~9% jump) L>100: L*$3 + $400 (~8% jump) L>60: L*$2.5 + $400 (~6% jump) L>30: L*$2 + $400 (~4% jump) L>20: L*$1.5 + $400 (~8% jump) L<20: $
Fizzydog
Off topic, but from now on put these kind of questions in the "Question box", as this clutters up the game discussion forum. Thank you.
