Early this morning, word was received at the private residence of Prime Minister Maleatu Shakor that he had suffered a severe heart attack. Medical teams were on standby and promptly transported him to Pator Tribal Hospital, where after several attempts were made to revive the prime minister, Mr. Shakor was pronounced dead at 12:37 AM, MST (Minmatar Standard Time).

He leaves behind a loving wife, Karren Shakor, and their son, Sanmatar Shakor. Sanmatar Shakor, who currently serves as senior tribal representative, has been chosen to succeed the late prime minister for the remainder of his term. Flags have been lowered to half mast, and a national week of mourning has been declared as all government offices are officially closed in observance of this tragic passing of a national hero.
