The King today unveiled a new farming program to the people at the major city of Krakow, this program involves using advanced farming techniques which were developed over the years by advanced researchers at the Jagiellion University, these top researchers headed by Lukas Oblascki and other dignified workers realized after much hard work three major agricultural ideas. These ideas were being slowly brought to full public use and the rivers and flatlands of Poland were being brought to full use to turn Poland from a simple society to a fully independent Agricultural producing state.

1.Development of a sophisticated system of irrigation using machines such as norias, water mills, windmills, water-raising machines, dams and reservoirs. With such technology researchers managed to greatly expand the exploitable land area in experiments that were completed.

2.Widely practiced cash cropping, where only crops that were of high value would be planted to be sold to make the highest profit and the modern crop rotation system where land was cropped four or more times in a two-year period. Winter crops were followed by summer ones, and in some cases there were crops in between. In areas where plants of shorter growing season were used, such as spinach and eggplants, the land could be cropped three or more times a year.

3.Heavy plough
The heavy wheeled plough with a mouldboard first appears in the 5th century in Slavic lands, is then introduced into Northern Italy (the Po Valley) and by the 8th century it was used in the Rhineland. Essential in the efficient use of the rich, heavy, often wet soils of Northern Europe, its use allowed the area's forests and swamps to be brought under cultivation.

Defences were next on the King's mind, knowing his researchers from the University only had so much material and information at hand the King knew he had to work with what he could. Starting out in the regions of Poznań, Kalisz and Płock and continuing down the frontier of Poland facing Pommerania, Austria-Hungary, and Brandenburg. Great Walls surrounding the cities shall be built of the sturdiest stone that shall be mined, in addition barracks and towers shall be built around the frontiers to protect them against invasion as well as other forms of strife. A final touch to the warning and defence systems shall be the installation of beacons of straw which are to be lit with a torch to warn the wall posts further along the line. These posts are guarded at all times in case an invasion does potentially occur.

OOC: Remember your tech limitations. Big stone dams, no. Smaller, earthen ones with minor stone support, yes. I'll bring down the GM hammer if I see the Three Gorges Dam.

501-1000 tech
Low quality weapons and armor
Recent, but not quite modern, tactics (1350-1400)
Wooden forts with stone supports
Primitive artillery
Max 10% men armed with gunpowder

Wood with stone supports. Your construction should be mainly wood with thin stone backing and supports, etc., not solid stone.

OOC: The rules aren't supposed to show history 100% historically. They're meant to ensure an RP that is fairly historical and not a free for all.

How is proper defense of my nation against "advanced artillery" as you have so given the excellent class in anyway unfair to them?

OOC: Remember your OOC tags. Higher tech confers higher advantages.
