President Obama just after his speech.

In a move today regarded by some analysts as "soft against colonial aggressors", President Barack Obama held a conference where he declared that he has put his name on a treaty that would end the ongoing state of war with the Golekh Empire. The Empire, known widely in Carthage for being ousted from Africa after their colony was liberated by Carthage, has been hovering on the brink of being invaded by Carthage for close to a year now. Files have leaked out from the Romano administration stating that a move must be made to "purge the world of the menace" that is Golekh, resulting in a severe public relations backlash against the previous administration. Although most of the administration is believed to have been killed in the nuclear attack, all of their decisions are still binding and thus the war with Golekh had never ended.

With the destruction of the Carthaginian Navy, many experts were puzzled as to why the state of war wasn't ended right then. However, President Obama said today in a speech that "we must move forward instead of looking back" and that "some might say this is too late - and I disagree - this war never should have been started". The island of Socotra, now owned by Novak, a key ally of Carthage, was the first in a series of campaigns to rid Africa of foreign imperialists. It culminated in the Aphrike treaty, which has been remarkably successful in staving off a war in Africa as evidenced by the quick and decisive defeat of the Johto Empire last year.

If the Golekh Empire signs the treaty, an official peace between the two nations will exist and Carthage will, for the second time in her life, not be at war with any nation or state.

It is official, then: Carthage and Golekh are no longer at war with each other. Seven soldiers who refused to die but were incapacitated on Socotra who were being held as POWs (they didn't say anything and we didn't interrogate them) have been released to Golekh and are being flown over as we speak.
