Everyone needs to spend some time just laughing at the animals while poking their fingers into the cage in the hope they wont get bitten off, and now is your chance for exactly that.

theZoo is a new alliance on planet bob residing on the purple sphere and are always looking for new members to join our team of staff looking after the animals.

Alliance Charter:

TheZoo sets out upon Planet Bob to bring together a place for people to come and have fun while enjoying a trip around various animal enclosures. We look to live peacefully with our neighbours but bond together in times of conflict and show we are ready to fight eagerly. TheZoo wishes to offer its members stability and protection, encouragement and growth and a place to while away the hours with ice cream in the shape of penguins.

1) Chain of Command

A Board of Three Directors each charged with specific areas of daily alliance management controls TheZoo. The Board of Directors both works with and answers to the Chairman. The Board of Directors will be elected by the membership every three months.

The Chairman will have overall say on all matters relating to TheZoo. The Board of Directors is there to help with the management of both the alliance and its member nations. The Chairman is a permanent position, which at first will be filled by the alliance founder. The Chairman has the power to both create and remove positions within the Board of Directors to help best maintain the alliance. In times of absence, the Director of Strategy will fulfil the duties of Chairman.

The Board of Directors will consist of the following:

a: Director of Strategy. The Director of Strategy will work to ensure that TheZoo’s military is always prepared and ready for any eventuality.

b: Director of Finance. The Director of Finance will work to ensure the financial betterment of the alliance and its member nations, both during peace and during times of conflict.

c: Director of Marketing. The Director of Marketing will act as TheZoo’s PR guru and establish diplomatic relations around planet bob in the name of TheZoo.

The Board of Directors will appoint a Head of Human Resources. The Head of Human Resources will have no executive powers within the alliance. He will oversee recruitment and membership applications. The Head will also conduct all elections to the procedures set out in Section 4.

2) Membership

a: TheZoo accepts members of good standing that are currently engaged in no wars and are not on the wanted lists of foreign alliances.

b: TheZoo does not allow dual membership of alliances.

c: Applicants to TheZoo must correctly fill out an application, providing all details requested and will be bound by the charter. Violations of the charter will result in punishment up to and including dismissal from TheZoo

d: Nations applying for membership shall spend seven days as an applicant. During this time, the Head of Human Resources will send the applicant a questionnaire; on completion of the questionnaire, the Board of Directors and Head of Human Resources will discuss the application, where only a unanimous no vote will deny an application. The Chairman reserves the right to deny any application as he sees fit.

d: The Chairman can dismiss members of TheZoo from the alliance after a majority vote among the Board of Directors to support the action.

3) War

a: TheZoo is a somewhat peaceful alliance and wishes not to cause waves upon planet bob. However, it believes that tech raiding is a vital part of both growth and experience. As such, TheZoo allows tech raiding only upon unaligned nations and only after approval from the Director of Strategy or the Chairman.

b: TheZoo encourages the development of nuclear armament for the purposes of defence only. TheZoo does not subscribe to any first strike policy. Any nuclear warfare must first be authorised by either the Director of Strategy or the Chairman.

c: Any attack on a member nation of TheZoo will be deemed an attack on the entire alliance. This will result in, where possible, a declaration of war upon the attacking nation whilst diplomatic solutions are sought.

4) Elections

a: The Head of Human Resources shall oversee Elections.

b: Elections shall be conducted over a five-day period beginning the first of the election month. The Head of Human Resources will inform the alliance membership of the elections a minimum of one week before the elections are due to begin. They will also arrange for the alliance membership to be informed of the beginning of the elections. The elections shall be run as follows:

Day 1: The Head of Human Resources shall post a list of all members expressing the desire to run. On this day, all candidates are to post their election platforms. Anyone not doing so shall be deemed to have forfeited his or her place in the elections.

Day 2: Debates begin. The Head of Human Resources shall open a debate thread for each position. In here members of the alliance have a full 24 hours to post any and all questions they wish to pose to the candidates.

Day 3: This 24-hour period will be used by the candidates to respond to all questions posed to them during Day 2. Any new questions will be removed.

Days 4 & 5: The Head of Human Resources will create a poll thread for each position, listing all remaining candidates.

c: Candidates with the majority share of votes cast will be elected.

5) Amendments

a: All amendments to the charter must be submitted to the Board of Directors for discussion. Any amendment gaining majority approval from the Board of Directors will go to a public vote.

b: When an amendment goes to the public vote, it must gain a 75%+1 approval of votes cast to pass.

c: The Chairman may veto any amendment submitted before going to public vote.

6) Succession

a: When a Chairman decides that it is time to step down and pass on the running of the alliance, he will do so by appointing a successor. A shortlist of successors shall be compiled by the Board of Directors from which the Chairman will select the next leader of TheZoo.

b: Every 12 months the position of Chairman shall come under review of the Board of Directors. They must give a majority approval for the Chairman to continue in his position. If the Board of Directors cannot give approval, then the decision shall go to a membership vote. To stay in office the Chairman must gain a 50%+1 majority of votes cast to stay in office. The Head of Human Resources shall conduct a 48-hour poll for this matter.

c: In the circumstances that a Chairman is voted out by the alliance membership, a new Chairman shall be elected from the Board of Directors currently in office. The Head of Human Resources shall conduct a full election process in this circumstance.

d: The out-going Chairman may not run for any position on the board for one full election cycle after leaving office.
