Clara finally let out the breath she had and lowered her weapon and was about to speak when the sound of something screeching to a halt echoed through the hallways and she immediatly spun around weapon raised though her hands were shaking wildly in fear as she looked for what caused that dreadful noise.

Meanwhile two floors above them

"Damn it!!! The lift's stuck in place" roared the team leader in anger as he bashed his fist against the side of the lift before pointing at the two front men. "Get this damn door open now!!" he ordered before switching to the command net channel. "This is team one we are two floors above our level and our transportation has halted proceeding on foot now" the man reported trying to keep the anger out of his voice, just as he ended the two front men got the doors open and the team quickly jumped out.

"I think that was an elevator, train, or something else. We better hurry, I see that office down the hallway. It better have map directions..." replied Robert as he also looked toward the direction of the noise with a puzzled look. He then quickly while quietly started walking down the hallway with his pistol drawn.

"Let me take point. I'm trained to do this sort of thing," George said gruffly. Carefully, as quiet as a panther, he took the lead toward the office...

"Your call." replied Robert as he lets George takes lead. He then slows down and let Clara be in the middle so she doesn't have to watch the rear.

Clara couldn't be happier to be surronded by two men who seemed to be beyond fear and willing to protect her. She walked quietly as she could but compared to the other two survivors she sounded like she was a fog horn, at least to her own ears. To make matters worse she was sure she could hear someone whispering her name...

Clara wasn;t the only one who heard whispers. His heart pounded just a little bit harder by the time they reached the office, but he kept his cool...mostly.

"Alright, we should search the office quietly but one of us has to guard the entrance." said Robert while scanning the wreaked office. He then noticed there were faint whispers and realized that someone is in the office, or stalking them...

Lobby level of the facility.

The team of five black op soldiers had swiftly dealt with the few staff that had been in the lobby when they launched their attack and had just left their corpses where they lay in their own pools of blood. The men were just finishing securing the lobby when a side door opened and a man wearing a medical gown walked out slowly with a slight limp. Reacting immediatly the soldiers surronded the man and placed their weapon sights on his head. Their orders were everyone had to die. However, they didn't expect the intercomm system to switch on throughout the entire facility and then the screams began as before their horrified eyes the soldier's skin, muscle and equipment melted away until all that was left was five steaming skeletons in a very large pool of blood.

Paitent storage level

Clara was about to say that she didn't want to be left in charge of guarding the group when the screams burst out across the intercomm system and she dropped the hand gun and curled into a ball placing her hands over her ears to try and drown out the noise whilst her own terrorified screams joined those being broadcast.

Lobby level of the facility

The mysterious man turned away from his work and was about to leave when he heard in his head the cry of a woman. Turning around he stalked towards the nearest set of stairs as he mumbled the same words again and again. "My love, my love, my love...."

"Keep it down please!" whispered Robert after the intercom stopped screaming. He then looked around and thought, "Geez, who turned on the intercom anyways? My ears hurt."

One of the soldiers, Francis Har, exclaimed, "Jesus god of heck? This place is a complete bloodbath!" as he got out.

George, who was guarding the door, winced at the screams, but if they bothered him beyond being a mild annoyance, his companions wouldn't know it.

Debating with himself, he left his post at the doorway to check and see if Clara was all right. He first held up two fingers in front of her face. "How many fingers am I holding up?"

Meanwhile, Robert was searching through the files, drawers, cabinets, and desks, hoping to find something to explain why they were kidnapped and how to get out.

He noticed there were printed papers in the printer, and searched through it, finding something very interesting...

"George, you might want to look at these papers..." whispered Robert as he grabbed the papers.

After receiving and assessing Clara's answer, he quickly checked the corridor. Still no sign they were being pursued.

He then walked all of the five steps it took to get over to Robert. "What do you think I need to see?"

his senses were attuned to notice the slightest noise from the hallway. He could swear he was continuing to hear voices, but everything: sight, hearing, the coppery smell of blood; it all seemed so much clearer.

"These papers are basically about a research on "unlocking" human brains or something. Whatever it is, they were probably messing with our brains." said Robert.

Robert sniffed the air a bit, and then whispered, "Don't you notice that the smell of the blood is getting stronger every second?"

"Must be a side-effect of whatever experiments they did on us. That's undoubtedly what they mean about 'unlocking.' Heightened senses go with whatever it is, it would seem."

He thought he heard a footstep at the end of the hall, and quietly returned to the door to peek out, indicating with a single finger to his lips that absolute silence was required...

Seeing that George indicated that absolute silence was needed, Robert stopped talking, looked around, and noticed a paper taped to the wall. "Oh, there is that direction map. How did I miss that the whole time?" thought Robert.

Clara had managed to just reply with the word "two" and George seemed to be happy with the response as he walked over to Robert to talk to him and she began to uncoil feeling slightly better now that the screams had stopped. She was just reaching over for the fallen handgun when George walked passed and stopped at the door before telling them to be quiet. Terrorified at the thought of something coming their way Clara snatched up the handgun and stepped back so that she was up against a wall her weapon ready to fire.

John McHalster bolted upright. And promptly swore as he felt a sharp stabbing pain against his scalp. He put his hand to it and drew it away when he felt wetness. He looked at his hand and nearly panicked as he saw blood. He looked around and saw a bloody needle lying on the floor. He looked down at his body and dozens of needles sticking out. He gingerly pulled them out and cursed at the pain each time. Once he finished with his painful task, he looked around and gauged his surroundings. He was in a white room. Across from him was a few monitoring machines. He looked up and noticed where all the needles had come from. A rack while dozens of types of IVs hung over him. In one of the walls was a door. He was about to leave when he noticed he wasn't wearing anything.

He looked around and noticed a tray with medical scrubs, along with a scalpel next to them. He donned the scrubs and grabbed the scalpel. Any weapon is good, right? He tried the door. It was open, which surprised John. He exited the room into a hallway. To the left was a dead end, and to the right, the corrider took a left. He strode down the hallway, turned the corner, and stopped. A slaughter house displayed itself infront of him. Mangled bodies lay in pools of blood.

John spun back behind the corner and forced his mind to think. His name was John McHalster. He was taking a test to join the Eggman Armed Forces. He scored 100%. The administrator brought him to the head office after words and accused him of cheating. He asked for a second chance and they gave him a completely new test. He scored 100% again. Then some officers and scientist from the Eggman Army came and put him through a bunch of academic and medical test. When it was over, they told him he could serve his country far better if he came with them, rather then joined as a lowly privade. They took him to a Guardian APC and they set of for somewhere. Before they made it, John remembered a loud exposition and he blacked out.

Now he was here, and the only way to leave was through the bodies. He drew a deep breath, and strode through the bodies. He'd almost made it when he tripped at knocked over a cart of medical supplies. It sounded like thunder, the noise echoing throughout the halls.

"Another banging, what the heck?..." thought Robert as he slowly tears the taped map direction off the wall.

The steps stopped at the same time he heard the racket--which happened at the same time he peeked out into the hallway. He didn't see anything, but that wasn't a comfort. The hallway turned a sharp corner about ten yards away to the left of the door. Motioning silently for his companions to remain where they were, he stalked the distance between the door and the corner.

He would have used the mirror hanging above to peek around the corner, but what wasn;t shattered was covered in blood, so he had to do it the old-fashioned way--by physically looking.

He saw another person in scrubs that had tripped over a fallen cart that had been loaded with medical supplies. Stepping around the corner fully, he scanned carefully to make sure no one else was in sight.

"Do you knw where we are?" he finally asked, quietly. "And did you hear fottsteps a moment before you tripped?"

John looked up and saw another man staring at him. He jumped to his feet and brandished the scalpel.

"No, I just woke up. I have no clue where we are. Who are you? And what's with all...this." He gestured to the carnage around him. "Name's John, by the way. From Eggman Empire." For some reason, John just KNEW that this man was A. From Promised Land, and B. Military. "And who's your friends?" He added.

The sounds of conversation flowed into the room through the open door and Clara was able to relax, lowering her gun to her side before she shook her head violently from side to side. "This isn't happening, I can't be here I was suppossed to be getting married. This isn't fair" she sobbed to herself as she watched tears fall from her eyes and splash onto the floor disappearing just as she felt her hopes were. She sobbed quietly for a few seconds before wiping away her tears and moving over to where Robert was looking at some kind of map.

"Maybe we can take the elevator on our left, enter the lobby and get out of here using the emergency exit. No, no, an elevator would attract unnecessary attention from anyone dangerous here, we might have to take the long way by using the stairway on the right..." mumbled Robert as he continues to examine the map of the building.

"Hm? What are you looking at?" asked Robert when he noticed Clara was right next to him also looking at the map.

Clara looked up and shook her head softly. "Nothing. Your plan sounds dangerous. You'l keep me safe won't you?" she pleaded looking straight into Robert's eyes fearfully.

"I am trying to decide the safest route. There isn't any 100% "safe" route, since we might bump into someone hostile. Besides, the longer our route, the more dangerous it is. At the same time, the elevator would attract hostile people. The shortest route is the stairway, the other stairway's route is noticeably longer, and the emergency exit doors and stairway is out of question, it probably has an alarm system with it." replied Robert.

He turned around and slightly opened a dented closet he forgot to look through, and found a few assault rifles, automatic shotguns, pistols, and ammo.

"At least we have some powerful guns with us..." whispered Robert.

Clara shook her head at Robert and walked away to the door, he hadn't promised to protect her, probally out to protect himself. She leaned out through the door entrance to see where George was and found him talking to some person who had made the earlier noise. She was about to go back inside when she was sure she heard a voice calling to her from a nearby door and it was so instinctive and clear she had to follow it didn't she and slowly step by step she began to walk towards the nearby room, labelled Operating Centre, ignoring the blood that she stepped in she reached out one hand oblivious to everything else. Placing her hand on the door handle she pushed it down and opened the door....
