The Power of the Spiral Races

OOC: This is a RolePlay closed to only Lynneth and me. Sorry ladies and gents~.

IC: Emperor Kim sat on his beloved sofa while resting from yet another day of tedious work. Another day of meeting after meeting about the future of Korea, restructuring cities, and rebuilding lives. Too much had happened. Hopefully, all of their hard work would not be in vain. Hopefully the generations to come would choose a new path to live--a path of understanding and of harmony. But until then, he had work to do. As much as he wanted to get away from it all (even though he had been "killed" multiple times), Keehyuk simply couldn't. At long last, he had resigned himself to his fate. However, the middle aged Emperor had something else on his mind as well. Through a number of his adventures and excursions, a foul mishap had resulted in him somehow having a very low sperm count. Too low to have any children. He had none. His "son"--Seho--was an adopted son whom Keehyuk had found in the rubble of Old Hansong during the War of the Houses. Perhaps he simply was destined to not have any children of his own. Or perhaps not.

"Sire, I apologize for interrupting your rest but our agents have confirmed that Canada does indeed have the world's most advanced Spiral Research Program in the world. Their feats have been astonishing and their knowledge is to be feared."

"Canada, eh? I haven't called ol' Leclerc in ages. I hope he hasn't forgotten me."

"Sire?"

"My phone please."

"At once."

His chamberlain scuttled over and handed Keehyuk his phone. It was a Samsung Victory--a model specially designed for him. It was more of like a Swiss Army Knife than a mobile phone but it did what it was supposed to very well. Almost lazily, Keehyuk called up Leclerc's number and clicked talk.

Hopefully his friend hadn't changed his phone number.

The number had, luckily for Keehyuk, not changed.

How would it? It was the Chairman's private number. Always the same, all the time.

After a few seconds - the call was long-ranged, around almost half the planet - the phone was taken off and someone put it to his head to talk into it.

"Chairman Leclerc, with whom do I have the pleasure?"

"Ah my good chairman. This is Emperor Kim from good ol' Korea. Have you been in good health? You have? Wonderful. Ah yes, the reconstruction is going very well. We cannot thank you enough for your assistance. From what I've heard, a number of communist organizations within the Empire grew after your generous aid. Haha, yes of course, of course. Is it still snowing over there in Canada? It is? My, don't we have a long winter this season. Yes, yes."

The conversation continued on for a good few minutes more before Keehyuk got down to business.

"So Chairman, I bet you are wondering why I called. In truth, I have heard that Canada has advanced very far in the Language of the Spiral. Yes, yes. I have a request and a bit of a challenge regarding that topic for your scientists. Is there any way we can meet in person and with those who know of the Spiral?"

"The Spiral, spira-...Ahh, of course. Yes, I happen to know a person who knows about the Spiral. Several, actually. In fact, you are talking to one of the people I know who know about it, my friend. As for a meeting, we could easily arrange one, I currently have more time than usual.

When would you like to meet?"

See you then."

"Will do."

He pressed the red end button on his phone and stood up.

"Ready my jet. We head to Ferinh in half an hour."

His chamberlain bowed and scurried out of the room. Keehyuk grabbed a jacket and headed out himself.

The jet bearing Korean Imperial colors touched down in Ferinh. As it came to a stop, a number of Imperial Guardsmen appeared out of the plane in various locations to ensure the safety of their sovereign. Keehyuk stepped out and felt the cold Canadian breeze. It was time to talk about some very tricky business.

OOC: :awesome:

IC:

Leclerc was already waiting, wearing nothing too heavy, as he was used to the Canadian weather, at the Ferinh Airport. It was as if he had a natural +5 resistance to the cold, speaking in Roleplay-game terms.

"Emperor, welcome to my humble country." Leclerc not only shook the Emperor's hand, but bear-hugged him, as well, with strength that one wouldn't think he has.

"Let us get into the warmth of a good car and then we can talk, yes?"

He pointed to a black limousine, currently guarded by two elite soldiers.

Keehyuk was slightly surprised at the Chairman's greeting but he had nothing against it. He got into the car after waving his guardsmen down. There was no threat here. The warmth of the car was indeed comforting and Keehyuk was thankful for it. Sitting, he began talking to the Chairman as he felt his car move.

"So, you probably have not heard, but I have no offspring whatsoever. I haven't had the time to settle down and have a kid and one of those damned secret operations left me with a low sperm count. The reason why I am here, except for old times sake, is to take you to use your knowledge of the Language of the Spiral and give me a child. A girl in fact. A girl that is more surpasses all in wisdom and in beauty. Let us call it a mad project I would like to call the "Eve" Project."

"I see, I see. Secret operations aren't always great. Aside from beauty, wisdom and intelligence - and, of course, common sense - you will obviously want more, if I understand right? Probably some specific hair-color, skin, and the like?

Ah, don't tell me right now. Once we're in the hospital, we shall talk about these things in more detail, yes?"

The car continued, at a quite high speed, towards the Ferinh General Hospital. Once there, the two would go to the highest part of the building, using an elevator. Up there, Leclerc would bring the Korean Emperor into the office of the Director of the Hospital, Dr. Samuel Velver.

Dr. Velver was currently staring into two files, holding one in each hand. Only when the door closed with a noticable click did he raise his head and look at the visitors.

"Oh..? Welcome, welcome. Chairman Leclerc, and...?"

"That is Emperor Kim Keehyuk, from Korea, Doctor."

"Ahh. Welcome, Emperor." Velver bowed as deeply as he could while sitting. "What brings the two of you here?"

Leclerc smiled. "The Emperor would like a daughter. Intelligent, wise, beautiful. But I believe it is better if he describes it himself."

Samuel nodded, then looked to Keehyuk, curious as to what he wanted.

"Well Doctor, I feel that I will give you a bit of...ahhhh...creative freedom, I believe it is called. I have a rather vague outline of what I would want my child to look like and be like. She must be clever, intelligent, wise, and more beautiful than any other on this planet. A number of medical precautions and the like have been prepared by my doctors so I am going to leave you scientist types to those. As far as outer appearance, she would have light skin--as Koreans do--though not light enough to be considered white. A bit tan but not too much. More or less, I would like her to appear distinctively Korean but even then, I do not have any qualms with eye color or hair color. Perhaps a gradient of blue and light gold for her hair and something to match with her eyes. As I said, you would have some creative freedom so these are just basic guide lines more or less."

"Hmmm..."

Velver got up, walking to one of the room's windows. The office was quite high, easily 200 meters above the surface, thus giving a very nice sight of the city, as the Hospital was in a part where few buildings reached more than 150 meters into the sky.

"Separated, these things would be easily done. Together, however...It will be somewhat hard. We will, of course, need a donation by a woman, preferrably stem cells or eggs. From you, we'll need pure DNA, as well." He turned to the Emperor. "How would you like us to acquire it? The most easy way would be - despite the low production of reproductive cells - to take a sample or two from your gonads.

It'll take some time and patience, but we can certainly do it, Emperor."

Velver nodded. "Very good. Before I call some nurses that'll bring you into a single-bed room, would you happen to already have a volunteer, or can we just take the DNA of a random woman with korean heritage?"

"Ahh, I see." Velver nodded again. "That is good, saves time. When will she arrive?"

Meanwhile, the Doctor pressed a button on the InterComm, "Please send a nurse here. We've got a special patient, scheduled for CD-GT."

A short 'Yes, Doctor' could be heard, and Velver shut the InterComm off again.

"Excellent. Meanwhile, a nurse will escort you to your room."

And, with perfect timing, a nurse came into the room just then, after knocking. She smiled at the Emperor and gestured for him to follow her after Velver nodded to her, signalling her that she could take him to his room.

And thus, she would quickly be brought to the hospital, faster even than the Emperor when he and the Chairman drove towards it.

Soon after, the girl - and the guardsmen, if they requested accompanying the girl - would arrive at the hospital and brought into the same wing as the Emperor, who would by now be in a hospital room. As he was at full health, he wouldn't be asked to lay onto the bed or change his clothes.

The room itself was decorated with a few pictures, mostly of beaches and had, aside from the pictures, a Television and some other minor "Luxuries", if they could be called that.

The girl would later be put into the room adjacent to the Emperor's room, but not before they were brought into another room, where Dr. Velver and another doctor - Dr. Generosa - would be waiting. They owuld ask some things and explain a few things.

The girl walked silently and gracefully into the room with the doctors. Emperor Kim was waiting there as well.

"So good of you to join us Luna."

The three men were already sitting - the two doctors behind a long desk, Kim in front of it, with the chairs looking very plain, but well-built, and good for the back. There was a fourth chair for her to sit down in. "Please, have a seat...Luna, right?", Velver said.

It was Generosa's turn to speak. "Now, you are, according to the Emperor here, the lady who will donate DNA material, is that right? We will thus need to take some ova - reproductive cells from the female - out, which is, thanks to modern technology, without any kind of danger, though it does take a few days of preparation for the patient. In essence, we'll do a modern In Vitro Fertilisation, though we'll insert a step between selection and transfer of the fertilised cells. That step is where we will do our job as Emperor Kim asked and treat the girl."

He leaned forwards, towards the two. "After that, we have two choices. One is an artificial womb, which is possible, may have some benefits, but has the inherent risk that the child will simply not grow, misdevelop, amongst some other things. Even we have some problems with them, though they are quite useful for...specific applications. The other possibility would be putting the embryo into the womb of a woman who volunteered to carry the child. The best thing would, of course, be if you volunteered for this, Ms. Luna, as half of the DNA material comes from you, making it much easier for the embryo to settle in. With someone else, we run the risk of the embryonal cells not being accepted."

Luna sat down quietly and remained calm and silent while the doctor spoke. She knew what she was about to go through and knew the importance of it to the Empire. To have an heir would be a great boon to the Imperial house. However, she had accepted the fact that she would never be known as the mother of the Emperor's daughter except in private. Thus, she decided to go with the option that would allow for her to conceal that fact even more.

Speaking quietly and calmly, Luna answered the good doctor.

"If it pleases my Lord Emperor and the Doctors, I would prefer to opt to have an artificial womb used."

Emperor Kim, who was thinking on the same lines as she, nodded in agreement.
