It's more than fair not to punish parties since it wasn't made very clear; ex post facto= not good

But, wouldn't it make sense to tell the parties that violated the terms before the clarification to 'withdraw their actions'? They're free from trouble with staff on that, so it's only fair imho.

Admin said explicity in that post that the parties that have done it recently weren't going to be punished, it's a for future reference kind of thing. What are you confused about?

It was a rule that needed clarification. It would be quite unfair for us to punish people who did not know the rule existed, but now that it has been clarified by admin we can safely say that ignorance is no longer an excuse.

I agree with this. This rule has been around for awhile, now and while it may not be fair to take action against those who broke the rules before the warning was posted. You can still retroactively demand any real world items taken illegally be returned to the greatest ability of those who took them.
